Good question. They are too lazy for stuff like that. They'd rather work behind a counter or at a construction site than start a political movement in there own country. |

Someone said it before-they could but they don't want too.
And the corrupt government issue is getting old. Many countries have that problem. |

there are not as many chances, and the people in the government steal a lot of money, and a lot of other things make people want to go to the US |

Corruption in all branches of government; the 'Haves' are few and very rich (bribery)! The 'have nots' really have not..poor wages, if any, little or no health care.
No real constitutional foundation to maintain a balance of power.
It would take a major revolution to change the status quo, and there's no way it's ever going to happen. The USA would never stand for it. Would start yelling 'pinko' and stir up all the old Socialistic bunk..because the US wants to keep Mexico under it's thumb! They are trapped! |

Corruption, that's why. No stable economy, no jobs...and the majority of jobs there're are low-paying. But, the way of life in México is a little cheaper than in the U.S., so everything balances out.
México it's not such a bad place, we have everything you guys have, we just also have proverty in different levels than you do. All due to corruption.
Another point is, I think the U.S has acomplished a lot by going to war (just bombing everything you don't like), we don't like war and we don't like killing inocent people. |

America was literally built on people like the Mexicans/Irish/Italians etc etc etc. You guys have such short memories it really annoys me. Who says America has stopped building? Who says the evolution of America has come to an end? Plus Mexico was ravaged my invaders and civil strife. Two things America has been lucky to avoid so far. It's also simple mathematics. Try and follow me here : more jobs in America and less jobs in Mexico. Mexico is trying. It is. Cut them some slack yeah? |

It can, but apparently has no incentive to.
I started out totally against the North American Union idea (except with Canada, since they have their own education and health services and are unlikely to flood our country seeking ours). However, now I am wondering if there might be some good in it, if and only if handled right. Maybe we could hold out a carrot. We look into starting such a thing with Canada, but Mexico, who is otherwise welcome to join, can only do so AFTER they have had universal education and at least health care for indigents mirroring ours up and running, for 5 years. That would give their rich a reason to push for those services and would make it less likely our own services would be a magnet pulling their poor across here.
They are not a poor country. They just don't consider their poor people to be a priority to spend money on. I wish that would change. |

Most of the people there only have a basic education and few go any further than high school if that far. There are only a small amount that go to College and they do not have the same standards of Education there that we have here. There are many poor people there that have never seen the need for their children to go all the way to college to better themselves and their country. One of the things that keeps the Children and families poor is that the education is poor and there for there is not the commerce that would raise the country up. There people work for much less than the Americans and their homes are not much more than huts in some areas. There are some homes that are made of block with a tin roof that is not always without holes in it. If you could see this for yourself you would understand that in these conditions it is hard to build what you do not understand. |

They have all the tools too build their nation. Land and natural resources aplenty.
But they don't want to work with what they have. They want more now!
They do have a corrupt government-who doesn't. They do not have strong Leaders to follow. And this is easier than fighting their own-much easier. If we were to cut them off -they would have too. Until than they want more NOW and do it the easy way.
I wonder why our sick and poor don't flood up to Canada for free health? Maybe they try to do the best they can with what they have. A lesson for many. |

Corrupt government, unstable region (drug gangs have actually taken over some cities down there), and an elitist attitude. I mean elitist worse than American belief. Their is not a belief in the sharing of wealth that we have here, in other words if the price of the product goes up, then the company keeps the profits, they don't trickle down to the worker.
In theory Mexico should be prosperous. They do have the resources and manpower to be so. But the societal effects in that country are keeping economics from flourishing as they should. |

America has more resources. Also, Mexico has a history of corruption. But one thing that might have made the difference is that the Protestant church pushed literacy when it was not a popular idea. This helped the average person to be better educated. |

Well maybe in a perfect world, Mexico would be equally as powerful and strong as USA, are you sure you really want that???
Have you ever been to say, Mexico City? I suggest you go there and see what Mexico is all about. You won't last a day there. Maybe you will get a 'clue' as to what Mexico all about. |
