Why did European rejects never learned another language when they migrated to America?

It can be for many reasons. maybe they were too lazy to learn another language, maybe they didn't have the brain to learn another language. They only wanted to impose their language and their customs.

Early immigrants did not, because there was no common language to learn. Once a common language was established, later immigrants did. It's called English. You may be vaguely familliar with it.

Most of their children were bilingual. Most of the adults actually worked on their farms and rarely went to town so they didn't have a chance. It wasn't like they could take a college class or something. My grandmother only made it through the 5th grade. After that they needed her in the fields and working.

I can name the Spaniards, Italians, English, Portuguese, Danish, Norse, Morrocans, Dutch, Irish, Germans, and French. How many can you name besides those?

In their time, they were worldly scholars. So I am positive that they knew many other languages before their trek to America. On top of that, most adapted to learning the Native languages, even if they learned the sign languages. It wasn't until much later when the country became a new country in itself, and started to grow when the English language was adopted as the defacto language.
