and to all for these people that are saying that they go to the ER for free.. how do you know! Usually when someone goes to the ER you don't pay for the services up front, you receive a bill and when you don't have insurance you have to pay for it, and most of them don't have insurance, medicaid for the same reason explained above, so how are they receiving free health care, welfare and all of that when it is NOT possible for an illegal to qualify because they have no SSN or 2 IDS. Think about it before you get brain washed on all of these incorrect answers.

Because it is illegal for a state-run hospital to refuse service based on ability to pay. Illegal immigrants go to those, refuse to provide an ID, and refuse to pay.

They do use our emergency and trauma center rooms for their health care plan.
The local hospital in my area is closing down the trauma center because of it, now we (the legals) have to travel 170 miles to the nearest one.

When an illegal gets hurt they go to the hospital. The hospital dosent care where you come from, if you need help they give it.

Then they go back to Mexico, and the US taxpayer is stuck with the bill.

You cite no sources at all with your 'most' so I won't bother getting my sources together, either. However, women walk over the border to border hospitals pregnant, knowing they won't have to pay if they say they can't pay, and knowing their kids will then get food stamps and 'aid to families with dependant children.' This has happened to the point where some hospitals on the border have closed and others have dropped their maternity wards. In Lodi I saw a statistic that one hospital had over 70% of births to illegal immigrants who didn't pay.

There are not fake Social Security cards? There are not fake ID's? There isn't identiy theft? Not one illegal uses the ERs where they can't be refused? It is possible, it might not be a wide spread as some claim but it is possible and is happening, it has been proven. There are criminal charges and deportations to prove it.

1. English as a second language programs paid with Federal funds.

2. Outreach programs to the illegal Hispanic community paid by Federal funds.

Because John Peter Smith Hospital in the FW area released their financials for 2005......the one fact that sticks in my mind is 75% of the births were to non-paying illegals.....the other thing is they are trying to stop all non-emergency care to illegals or risk bankruptcy....

Because in many states are laws requiring institutions to provide care, no matter of the financial status of the patient. In other words, it is illegal to deny anyone medical treatment and a case in point is Florida. While the staff labor to prevent admission and attempt to transfer the patient elsewhere, the fees are carried by the hospital/ city or state. On the contrary about they pay dearly in all places as well...many farms in Florida provide housing, while it is marginal, it is housing. Additionally, food and other services are provided by churches. One famous strawberry farm privides many things for his field hands, and even holds a Christmas party for them, gives gifts...and has been generous ot many....Isn't that taking away from others?

I live in NJ and by me they have clinics run out of the hospital JUST for illegals.

I can understand getting chilidren healthcare, but the clinic is overflowing with adults. They do not have to pay anything. I have a co-pay when I go to the doctor or hospital, maybe they should have a co-pay to offset some costs.

I went 4 years without healthcare, but I never freeloaded off of the system. I probably would have been denied if I went to that clinic anyway.

By the way, in Denmark, they do not speak Dutch!!!!That is Netherlands

They do reveive free health care via Medicaid or just simply not paying. If you are within 250 feet of on ER they must treat you, they cant turn you away.
Not only that why would they turn you away, when most county hospitals recieve monies from the county, local/state government specifically for illegals to be treated.

I have had friends who live in border towns in Texas, they have seen the pregnant mothers sitting on the border and when it is time to deliver they come into the US and deliver a child in a US hospital. So they can recieve food stamps and medicaid, there kid is now an American citizen.......

Why would they spend money on doctors when usually most every cent they make goes make to their families in Mexico???

It has become a hardship on America. Yeah they do do jobs that Americans WONT do for minimum wage. It isnt an issue of being too good to do those jobs, but who can support a family on min wage.. Not ONE legal american citizen can do that.
I am a single mom, with two children..I work 45 hours a week and I still cant make my ends meet.......... so I applied for services from my local Health and Human service department..........guess what they told me.. I make too much money... how is that?? When I can barely manage to make ends meet???

However, if I wasnt working at all... I would get assistance.. limited assistance that is....

The difference is my money is TAXED and an Illegal's money is NOT.. that makes a BIG difference.

You are only partly correct. When a pregnant woman goes to the FIA or welfare office they CANNOT be turned away irregaurdless of citizen status.I am not saying that they should. An ER CANNOT turn people away. You CAN go there and you CAN not pay if you choose. If you were illegal it would be easy , if you are not documented they can't find you. Some of them do go to clinics , those who are VERY poor. Others have insurance. You can buy a VALID social security # for about $200.00.Those who don't know English seem to be the worst off , but those who do seem better off.

Because they do!!! Lets say an illegal alien is driving a car and has no auto insurance or drivers license (which legal citizens are forced to have). He pulls out in front of a family of legal American citizens (who can't afford medical insurance). Theres a terrible collision and all of them go to the hospital. The illegal alien gets the same treatment as the American citizen. Everyone is treated and spends weeks in the hospital. The American family's life have changed forever. They are facing huge medical expenses that they will be held responsible for the rest of their lives. The illegal alien will leave the hospital in disappear into American society or cross back over the border and will never be held responsible for his medical expenses. Or the cost of the accidents to the legal American family. Ask yourself is this fair?

When David arrived in Charlotte last month, he went looking for a job carrying a fake Social Security card.

It worked: He's now cleaning rooms at a hotel, sending much of what he earns back to his wife and kids in Central America.

David, who's in his 30s, knows he could go to jail or be deported for using the authentic-looking card, which he bought -- along with a fraudulent "green card" -- for $140.

"It's worth the risk," he says through an interpreter. "It's the only way for me to get a job in this rich country."

Getting a nine-digit number that can pass for the U.S. government-issued ID is often the first order of business for illegal immigrants who come to boomtowns such as Charlotte.

But after Sept. 11, the same fake numbers are increasingly tipping off security-conscious agencies looking to track down people in the country illegally.

After auditing employment records at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, the Immigration and Naturalization Service announced last week that it had identified more than 260 illegal immigrants. Among them: 65 indicted on charges of using false information to get access to secure areas.

The Social Security Administration is also cracking down, sending letters to Harris Teeter and Food Lion in recent months that resulted in the firing of dozens of undocumented Latino employees of their N.C. stores.

Late this year, Social Security also will begin sending letters to every company that has even one employee whose name and number don't match. Before, only businesses with a high percentage of workers with bad numbers would get letters.

The change doesn't mean federal agents will soon be swooping down on every grocery store, hotel and lawn service with illegal immigrants on their payroll, says Buster Williams, an Atlanta-based agent of the Social Security Administration who participated in the investigation at Charlotte/Douglas.

Before homeland security became the nation's watchword, many businesses were so eager to hire Hispanics, who had a reputation for working hard for little pay, that they took little notice of obviously fake documents. Deb McLean, vice president of marketing at Charlotte Metro Credit Union, even heard of some Latinos who tried to open accounts with phony Social Security numbers supplied by their companies.
Sept. 11 has quieted such talk. And the airport sweep, one of several around the country that snared mostly Mexican janitors, has re-ignited the Carolinas debate over illegal immigration.

No one can say how many undocumented workers live in the two states, but North Carolina has the country's fastest-growing Latino population; South Carolina ranks sixth.

First of all, why are you advocating illegal immigration? Do you believe that its okay? That its perfectly fair to legal Americans? The reason Americans are upset is because there ARE underground businesses out there providing false identities to illegals so that they may apply for welfare. Problem is, if you can go through the humiliation of applying for government assistance, why not do something as honorable as apply for citizenship??
Regarding medical care, I am in the industry and I've seen first hand what illegal immigrants can do to a county hospital. Its incredibly sad to me when an illegal immigrant who has provided the hospital with false identification and a false social security number so as to never be liable for any services rendered, surpasses as perfectly legal American citizen who is equally or moreso in need of medical treatment. Imagine it yourself; You are a legal citizen and you take your two year old child with a fever of 103.7 to the local e.r.. Immediately infront of you is a man who has the flu. He is seen before your baby. Okay, so first come, first serve right? Well, then you find out that this man is here in the USA illegally and has just provided the hospital with a fake id. He will never be held responsible for the care he is about to receive, but bet your *** you'll get a bill! Along with the $400/mth your paying for insurance. Its enough to really upset a lot of hardworking US citizens. Think about it.
