If a Mexican is stopped for a traffic violation, when asked they must provide the following: Driver's license, proof of registration, and proof of insurance. Why do they have to do this? It is the law. If people are so concerned about racial profiling, why don't they pass a law that all Mexicans do not have to carry their Driver's license, proof of registration, and proof of insurance with them ?

Do those protesting Arizona’s newly enacted immigration law feel it is unjust for law enforcement personnel to ask to see a driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance upon being stopped?
What is their solution to lower the number of illegal immigrants in Arizona, a number estimated at 460,000?
Why belittle or lambast Arizona and its governor for taking a stand against those who illegally enter the U. S.?
Other border states should follow Arizona’s lead. America is a country that offers many opportunities to its citizens.
How can any law-abiding, honest American citizen look the other way and ignore illegal immigration influxes that shall only continue to place burdens upon human services and the work force if left unchallenged?
If immigrants want to be a part of the American dream and live in a land of opportunity, then why not do so legally as many have done in the past? |

The problem is that Mexicans are above the law. Anything that is done to enforce the immigration law will be called racial profiling. |

Although racism exists there is nothing in this law that is racist. ANYTHiNG can lead to racial profiling and I've been a victim of it myself but then so has my fiance who *looks* White but is mixed native American and European.. just like many of the Mexicans.. Same blend.. Euro and Native American somewhere down the line. I am 4/4, meaning 100% but people STILL think I am an immigrant, so it can happen anywhere.
Actually GoGo Girls, a lot of Mexicans *are* part ~white and look it too.

Your asking to pass a stupid law also. why ask a stupid question then? racial profileing is going to come when people like you start saying stupid **** on the street. But that being said i dont worry for the mexicans in arizona. i would dare for anybody to tell anything to a mexican when there the majority. Ive worked in prisons and detention center. Seeing how these gangs operate i would worry more if you were trying to tell them anything. anybody can talk tough when there just typeing. |

Well I think it is racist because the police is going to take advantage of the new law and stop every single person that looks Mexican and ask for those documents. Why? Because they don't like Mexicans and they want to get rid of them so they will stop them for no reason. |

The question is why individual police officers may or may not choose to stop a specific person in the first place.
All people, including citizens and illegal aliens alike, are protected from random stops by the government that violate the 4th Amendment. As long as a stop is permitted by the 4th Amendment, there's no problem in asking for documents. But attempting to define where the line is, and how officers will create this line, is where the controversy lies.
Some say illegal aliens should be stopped anytime anyway and should not have 4th Amendment protection. But a police officer doesn't know ahead of time whether the person is legal or not, hence the stop to find out, and therefore US citizens who do have rights will have them violated as a result of police officers making stops based on improper reasoning. |
