It is a very good question and a reasonable one.
There are many countries, international organizations which help countries in need; countries like Mexico, India etc. They sometimes give help directly to the needy government or to the NGOs. These programs help in creating jobs. But not in the pace that you and I would like to see.
Finally, the main reason that the US or other countries do not give as much as they can or want to, is because the recipient government ministers are usually very greedy and put the money in their own pocket instead. If you are a Mexican citizen, you are aware how bad the corruption is there, right ?
I hope this helps. |

We are spending 68 billion a year in services to support those illegals who turn around and send over 54 Billion back to support the Mexican economy. I think we are doing more than our share. Let the deportations begin. |

And what about the more than 40 Billion sent to Mexico annually in U.S. dollars? Who the hell are you kidding!? |

Maybe the horribly corrupt government of Mexico should stop pocketing the billions of pesos and help their own people. |

we do pepe 60 billion a year but the money dissappears in corrupt hands,,,We don't know who to trust down there, wE WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER OFF TRUSTING THE MONEY WITRH THE DRUG MAFIA DOWN THERE, they have proven to be more generous in countries like Peru which experienced a economic mirale in the last 8 years thanks to mafia power shift |

There are a lot of rich Mexicans. Ask them why they don't educate their own poor instead of sending them to sponge off of us and our children's education funds. |

We would have to seize the government, and that would be considered "bad." The problem with Mexico is a corrupt government and a populace who's culture accepts it.
Mexico has plenty of resources and hard workers.
And no, I am not extremely rich. |

We do, not to mention the billions sent from people here.
We do not have alot of money....we are trillions in debt....it's not our job to fix another country when they seem to think all is well as long as we leave the border open and let their people keep sending money back and the drug trade keeps going well. We've had some of our businesses move there. Mexico is not a poor country. There's plenty of money for their own people to fix their country if they wanted to. It's so corrupt there's no quick fix for what ails them. |

I think the mexicans should come here and work for free. I mean, mexico has no shortage of strong men so why not come here and work for room and board.
Sound stupid? So did what you said. |

USA is billions in debt. Plus they have Iraq conflict to worry about before they can help Mexico. |

Please try and filter through the ignorant rantings of the previous responses. You have a legitimate question. It is not our policy to help unless there is something in it for us. It is easier to rape a country of its resources and cry when it turns. Be patient. There is a seed sprouting in the south of Mexico and all will be well. Mexico doesn't need our charity, just a change of philosophy. In six years it will be apart of the new revolution and then unemployment in the U.S. will be zero. Oh, that's right. The immigrants come here because most americans are too lazy to work. They don't qualify for welfare. If they stay here they have to work. Nationally speaking they put more $$ into the economy than they take. The only drain is locally. Tax their income - problem solved.
Jackie S. why don't you form your own opinion? Typical sheep mentality. |

what do you think NAFTA did? I can tell you it hurt all the way up here in Illinois were our frameplant shutdown. We built frames for GM's truck lines. Used to be made in Rockford,Illinois but NAFTA shut our plant down. Jobs moved to mexico. now mexico builds GM's truck frames and ship them up to Janesville, Wisconsin. I know it was 750 employees we lost to mexico. I know Ford makes cars there too, so you can't say the US isn't helping. Its the mexican gvnmt , they are corrupt. |

The costs of importing goods that are made by the Mexican people with rock bottom wages and importation costs are what our Corporate entities pay money to our politicians for regardless of the consequences. Immigration being on of them. Their not even satified there, they are encouraging foreign nationals to become and illegal because the piss poor wages they can earn here are still better than what's offered in Mexico. They don't want you becoming like us, they want our labor market to represent yours!! The more time we spend fighting amongst ourselves is less time we spend fighting the bigger issue. |

Unless you havent listened to the news Americans have helped mexicans so much it is ruining our own economy. You sound as greedy as the rest of illegals. |

We are already helping the Mexican economy.
They are comming up here illegally and then the last I heard they are sending an average of 12 to 15 MILLION DOLLARS per year back to Mexico.
Plus American companies are already down there, Look at where most of our vehicles built, and that is just one type of business.
Those that say a fence would be cheaper,Congress has already authorized the fence but explain this how would a 700 mile fence for a 2000 mile border do any good? |

I agree with Dar it is Mexico responsibility to take care of their own people, their government is so corrupt and the rich don't care about their own people, they do not provide social services for their own people. Mexico has been our neighbor for over 200 years, and they still cannot get things together to help their people. They have had the same amount of time to build their country as the United States. It is not our fault their government is corrupt. |
