There are no jobs that Americans won't do if they are paid at least minimum wage and are protected by American labor and employment law.
Cheap labor allows businesses to not hire naturalized americans and to outsource jobs. within a generation there will be no jobs for actual american citizens and then the economy will tank because no one will be able to buy anything.
Why do people assume that illegals are only doing the manual jobs? They are doing restaurant, hotel, construction, childcare, and any other job they are offered....not just produce pickers.
if Dynacorp can hire someone for 1 dollar, why would they hire you? or your son? or daughter? |

Your question is phrased wrong. There are absolutely no jobs that Americans won't do. Americans however are not stupid enough to take jobs for pennies a day. Americans will not do the jobs for the wages that illegal Mexicans will accept. |

The Americans who think that are, in most cases, wrong.
Illegal immigrants are taking the jobs that no one else wants to do, are not insured, and if they get killed on the job it's possible that no one would even know about it.
Blame the companies and corporations who hire the illegals--they are the ones who don't want to pay a decent salary or give any benefits. |

Naturalized Americans, even if they are from another country, I have no problem with, if they have something to offer this country. Other countries expect the same!! We as Americans need to care for our families through jobs that we need permits to have and taxes to pay. Illegals get all of our freedoms and rights with none of the sacrifice. That's wrong. |

In states that have few illegal immigrants, the same jobs are performed by Americans. Americans can't compete against illegal immigrants because not only will the illegal immigrant work for less, if he is being paid under the table the employer too is not paying employment taxes and benefits they have to pay for legal workers.
The people most upset about illegal immigration are the poor who would take the jobs if they paid what Americans consider a living wage. |

Because Americans have swallowed too much socialist propaganda. There is not a set, limited number of jobs. When more people come here, more jobs exist. It's silly to think of new immigrants (legal or illegal) taking jobs away from someone else. When new people come to the country, they also buy stuff here, which creates manufacturing jobs, food service jobs, healthcare jobs, etc. In a free enterprise environment, growth leads to more jobs. What is hindering growth in the illegal alien communities is that they can't create legitimate businesses because of their status. That's something that needs to change if we're to find a prosperous future. More freedom, not less...that's what America is all about.
I have the greatest respect for the people who are coming here for jobs. The ones I'm concerned about are the ones coming here for welfare handouts. However, I'm not keen on the idea of illegals getting here before the people who have applied to come here legally. I have no problem with deporting all the illegals (although it would be a logistical impossibility), but i would only support that if we simultaneously allowed the same number of thousands of new LEGAL immigrants to come in and replace them. Otherwise, we'd probably end up shutting down a good segment of our economy. You simply can't uproot millions of people and expect it to have no real effect. The only reason why the socialist-inspired Mayday protest had such little effect is because most immigrants are not blind followers, and the value their jobs and their families more than they value the confused protest movement. |

I do not think Americans think illegal immigrants are taking their jobs since illegals do low-paying jobs; it's the opposite view that is prevalent as the feeling is that they do jobs that Americans do not want to do and thus they are an economic necessity.
There is another view that they are oversupplying the market with labor and thus driving down wages which is hurting American workers.
Different people have different views about this and therefore these views are only expressing different schools of thought. |

Its not the fact that there taking our jobs.Its that there doing it illegaly.Any human being should have the right to provide for his or her family.But doing it in a fashion that under minds the way of the country thats providing that job aint right.Do it right,pay your taxes,spend some of that money you made in that country in the country it was made as to keep its economy thriving so the next man or woman has the same opprotunities that was bestowed upon you.And by all means do it legally |

I lived in California for a long time and found that for the majority of the time illegal immigrants work jobs like picking fruits in horrible hot weather. Did construction jobs for about $1 an hour with no benefits. Basically the job really nobody would want to do. I feel they are not taking the jobs, But that they should not cheat about coming to this country. All I know is that I have alittle Native American Indian in me and I thought they were here first. So that makes most everyone in this country immigrants, right? Maybe everyone who says that they are taking the jobs should go out and get a job like they get, get paid nothing, try to feed their family and give their families a better opportunity. You know with out them doing jobs like they do alot of things that you like you just would not have. |

Because the immigrants are working for an illegal wage. Like a normal trash collector earns a good wage, but illegals can work on half the wage easy. They are happy being paid. Here in America we want benefits and good pay; which is another reason jobs like telemarketer ar being outsourced. |

Personally Most don't (the ones that are educated anyway) I feel that this country is capable of allowing someone to start somewhere and provide for their family and prove themselves and become more stable and make a difference. If someone is willing to work for a wage than more power to them. |

Illegal immigrants are taking jobs away from Americans by not only working for lower pay but also by not working on the tax roles which can save business owners tremendous amounts of money in FICA taxes, health benefits and other things which hiring someone who is a legal resident does not allow them to do. The devalue the work of the lowest paying jobs which continues up the line so that all other jobs also pay less. |
