Because they are talking to each other in their own language, they don't think in English, so why would they talk in English?!
If you and your family went abroad, say france, and started talking, would you talk in French? Of course not, shut up and get over it. |

Like the U.S, they're not expected to integrate. I would say that Britain is such a melting pot, there seem to be more foreigners than Brits. Especially, in London. |

America is pretty much the same. spanish speaking people tend to make us feel uncomfortable in our own country |
|

Centurion

It's the same in Texas. The illegals speak spanish exclusively and since they outnumber the real Americans, we feel alienated. This diversity crap is what is fueling that. Instead of immigrants trying to assimilate into the society they have moved in to, they try to change it to make our countries into the crappy place they ran from in the first place. I feel your anger all the way across the pond! |

Don't come to America to get away from it. We have the same thing here. |

Come to the U.S., especially Southern California, and observe. It will make your situation in Britian seem minor by comparison... |

Probably because they are UNABLE to speak English, and can't even be bothered to learn! Why would they, they have no intention of integrating with anyone but their own kind, so they can babble away!!! |

Had the British babbled in the Indian language when they were there??
I can't understand why a lot of people refuse the difference.
Imagine a world with the same landscape, with only human race, they speak unique language and live in the same way.Whats exciting??
Being different is proving his existence. so let's each other exists if we want really to prosper. |

I've lived overseas, and when there, when interacting with other Americans, I spoke English as it is necessary and convenient.
Of course, I didn't expect the store clerks or taxi drivers to speak English, so I always started off in the local tongue, hoping I would be understood. |

Speaking a second language comes with wealth of knowledge and power and opens doors and opportunities that Only English Speaking people will not understand. Its cultutral and has rich heritage, it's about a people, food, dance, music, family, it's not just a language it's a culture. Most people do it unconciously, no one is out to hate you or talk about you. |

It's funny how the "world" hates English speaking countries--yet that's where the hell everyone migrates. Look at the idiots radicals, denouncing Xianity, imperialists, etc... yet the enjoy the freedoms and comforts in these nations.
What the heck are we doing wrong? |

I am a Brit in the US and I have worked mainly with Hispanic people, the majority of which really do want to learn English and even go to classes to do it.
In Britain however they really don't care because nothing is done to make sure they integrate, they do not have to learn anything about Britain as a pre- requisite to becoming a citizen, and of course it is against human rights to do that or some other dumb *** Euro legislation, moreover you have to change your culture to accommodate them!!!!! |

Dude.. Wake up to reality.. English speaking population is a minority in Britain now.. Guess you're not used to looking up statistics... |

Why? Because they are generally more comfortable speaking to one another in their native tongue. Would you not want to talk to a fellow Brit in say Paris in English - or do you just automatically switch over to French just because you are in France?
The truth is that most cities around the world are becomming more cosmopolitan and international - whether we are willing to accept it or not. If you don't like it, perhaps you could move to a remote township or island and perhaps you can avoid it there.. |

Because they would rather speak their own language than to learn English in your putrid accent. |

We are not terrorists يا عيني

yeah, why???
Why do British and American who live abroad continue to babble in their own language????
Sit on a train or bus and you really feel like YOU are in a different country!!! |

I am sick of this shallow mindness.
somethings to ponder
If you travelled to a foreign country with your mother lets say China would you stop speaking English and start speaking Chinese?
You are travelling in Germany with your high school friend... and travelling on a train.. do you speak English or German to your friend?
you are sent to France to work for 1 year.... you work with French people who are fluent in English and French... but you are more fluent in English. do you comunicate in English / French or both ?
wake up ...its a global world... embrace the differences |
|

Because it's what they are used to. I'd probably do the same thing if I went to another country. |

What a stupid waste of time is this question, only answering for the points!! They have their rights to speak in their language!! Do you travel? Do you speak Spanish if your go to Spain or Latin America? No, surely you expect people to talk in your language right? Well they have the advantage of talking about you without you noticing or knowing. What a xenophobe! |

I hear a lot of Americans and Brits speaking English outside their country; in fact, of the entire planet, those are probably the two nations that are least likely to grow up speaking a second or third language and adapting to whatever culture they're in. |
