I agree with you that they are comparing themselves to the civil rights movement and that is SO WRONG! The way that black people were being treated was awful and they were just as much citizens of the USA as the people who were treating them so badly. Illegals are not being treated badly, they are being asked to leave. They should all burn in hell for comparing themselves to that.

It they want to legitimately compare it to our civil rights marches, they first have to go to their own country. We were not trying to change the laws of another country to fit our own agenda. We only wanted what was fair as citizens of our own country. They should protest the Mexican laws that made them feel that it was better that they emmigrate elsehwhere.

Ihaftaknow is totally correct ... the civil rights marches were to correct a horrible wrong in THIS country .... and the protesters were American citizens demanding to be treated as such .... illegal aliens HAVE no such rights ... and to do what this illegal woman in the Chicago church is doing, to compare herself to Rosa Parks, is nauseating .... :(

I am Mexican and I agree. If you are illegal you don't have the right to demonstrate, much less to compare your struggle to civil rights movement.

It is true that the US needs our labor, but at the same time it is not right to enter a country illegaly. I understand is not always a matter of choice, but of dire need. It is sad that our country does not give Mexicans the opportunity of having a well paid job like in the US

I have wondered where the Black Americans have been on this issue. If anyone has a right to complain they do.
Black families have been run out of my town by Mexican gangs. These Latino leaders that are organizing these dumb *** marches should take a clue from Dr. King.
Not that it should matter, they are not citizens,and should get nothing. We need to take care of our citizens, no matter what color. We should not have to take care of illegal aliens. Thank you for your intelligent question.

i agree, it is an incredibly annoying and disrespectful comparison. similar to the illegal that holed up in the church to avoid deportation comparing herself to Rosa Parks. i think it would be like a slap in the face to all black people who fought for their civil rights. my only guess though is that they need to try and identify with someone who fought for something worth while, because they are just grasping at straws, they know they have no rights here

I agree, you have to be a citizen before you can have your rights violated and the illegals are not citizens and should not be comparing them selves to the civil rights movement, it doesn't come close, black were not try to change our laws, they just wanted equal opportunities and rights as American born citizens. The illegal Mexicans come here wanting citizenship or (demanding) citizenship I should say, and saying they have a right to be here, they absolutely do not belong here or deserve rights as a born citizen. But they showed their true colors when they marched and flu the flag of the country they are loyal to and love, they are just here for jobs, their beloved country can not provide and will not provide they don't want them their anyway.

Because many of the illegal La Raza and other pro illegal political movements are not just against immigration laws. They believe they are natives. They believe they are oppressed by the law. They believe they have rights because they are workers and have taken over the job market in many areas. They are anti-American as well as ANTIWHITE. Since this can also be said about many modern black civil rights groups (that they are against whites and american society as is) they think they can mimick things that worked for blacks in the past and achieve solidarity with other non white groups. In other words, in my experience in CALIFORNIA, most blacks and most Mexicans have been taught to categorize, mistrust, and hate whites and associate American society with whites. When overthrowing American law, they are also overthrowing what they perceive to be corrupt white rule.
I've never known an illegal immigrant that was lynched because he was illegal. I've also never known a black person that was every lynched nor a white person who ever lynched or believed in lynching anyone.
I've never know an illegal immigrant that had a cross burned in his yard because he was illegal. I've never known a black that had a cross burned in his yard or a white person who has done this or would do this.
I've never known a illegal immigrant that had a fire hose put on him because he was illegal. I've never heard of this happening to blacks as individuals, but remember seeing this on the news when students rallied against the war in Berkeley. This was not racial. It was authoritarian.
I've never known an illegal immigrant that had to sit at the back of the bus because he was illegal. Illegals consider riding the bus a symbol of their past and most drive cars. Cars are a status symbol and they will drive them legal or not. I've never known a black who had to sit at the back of the bus or a white who would tell them to do so. However, most of the people who willingly go to the back of the bus are the dangerous young black males who everyone is afraid of including the bus driver.

It seems you don't know many illegal immigrants.

You claim that BLACKS were for the rights of all citizens born and emigrated to the country LEGALLY! How sad and shameful that you don't know black history very well. MLK wanted unity and equality for everyone, legal & ilegal, black, white, brown, yellow, red, and every other color. MLK never said "I only want this for us Blacks, and screw everybody else", so why do you hide behind his and his colleagues' work and his struggles and shout those things yourself?

Understand that they are both civil rights movements, and that although different, they still depict a peoples' struggle. It is a shame that a 40 year gap in struggles is enough for some people to forget the true reason for civil rights.

If you want to jump on the illegal immigration bandwagon, feel free to do so, as it is your right. But don't do it with the guise of civil rights and struggles.
