Because it's unfair and cruel to keep them as second class citizens by having laws that allow them to work here or go to Lousiana but at the same time always keeping a "illegal" card to be used to reduce their salary, benefits and rights.

Do you think that illegals who are given amnesty are going to continue to work for low wages. There would be no reason for them to continue to do so. So all those jobs would go to the next wave of invading illegals. Some think they are only trying to make life better for themselves. So are a lot of others around the world. Don't you think there are thousands upon thousands of impoverished people in Africa, Asia, and elsewhere who are trying to get into the USA legally, but can't because our country can't handle absorbing them into the economy because of all the illegals already here. To the person who sais we are all immigrants, at one point or another that's true, but my ancestors came here LEGALLY. I'm all for Mexican's (and others) immigrating, if they do it the legal way and want to work. Otherwise, they are only draining our economy. The ones not on welfare are taking the money they earn and sending it back home, what good does that do for the USA. As for the Senate compromise, what a joke. Do you seriously think that an illegal who is here for less than 5 years is going to just come forward? or less than 2 years. Send them all home, give them 6 months to do it, then throw them out if they are still here.

Definitively they don't deserve an amnesty. The've done something illegal, they are illegally in the US and they should be expelled. Send them back to where they were born.

After they are gone probably a lot of unemployed americans will fill their jobs and life will continue as it always should have been.

Someone argues that for the wages they receive no american is going to work? Better, the employers should pay a fare price for the jobs.

Someone argues that deportation of 11 million people is too difficult? It should be a challenge but it will be a good exercise so you will be prepared to move 2 or 3 million people next time a hurricane reaches the continental US coast.

Someone argues that they are coming back? Build not one but two or three walls in the border with Mexico. Or even better , bulid a channel and fill it with cocodriles.

Their countries don't want to receive this people back? Well, send them to Castro, Cuba should be almost empty by now.

They are only a couple of tiny details. Probably after that it will be a little dangerous for americans to go to Puerto Vallarta or Punta Cana or places like that. But, who cares?

And at the same time probably the number of children in school will also drop and you will no need so many teachers. But, who cares? These teachers will dedicate their lifes to house clening and be happy.

And finally, inflation will go up (lots of jobs will become better paid) and dollar exchange rate will drop so probably your real income will also drop and you should have to sell your car because of the prices of gas and take public transportation. But again, who cares? For sure they won't be any ugly illegal aliens in the buses.

It's a good point. We have a system for allowing foreign nationals into our country (legally) to work. If you don't follow that, I think you should get sent back home. There ought to be a statute of limitations though...if you've been here 'x' years illegally, you should be allowed to stay. I saw an article where a family who had been here for many years...and had become pilars in their community...were deported. That's wrong.

Just as wrong, though, are the programs on Mexican TV that encourage you to, if sick, call an ambulance to take you to the ER because they "have to take you."

If they want to come in, document themselves, work, and pay the same taxes that I pay, more power to them. But we either need to enforce the existing immigration law, or change it and enforce the changed one.

Why does paying a fine and having the offense listed on your criminal record count as amnesty?

I haven't seen any proposed law that says "let's ignore the fact that people entered illegally".

What I have seen are proposed laws that say "let's treat this more like a speeding ticket, and less like an axe-murder". Getting and paying a speeding ticket is still a violation, and it still counts against you. It isn't amnesty, just because you don't go to jail.

Come on, they are humans. Every body tries for a better life. Just because we are already in USA doesn't make us better than those that are outside USA. They are less fortuante and want to come and work in USA for a better life for theirselves and their children. Yes, they do a lot of low-paid labourious jobs that normal Americans don't want to do. No one wants to go to a country as an illegal alien unless they have no choice. Believe me, it's not easy for them to leave their country and take a big risk.

In fact, all American's (except Native Indians) are immigrants in USA whose ancestors came to this land for a better life. So, if it was ok for our ancestors, why isn't it right for those who come now? At least they don't come and shoot the other American's like what our ancestors did to the Indians.

They don't "deserve" it, but even Many American Citizens who are against illegal immigration have trouble being responsible for ripping people out of the lives they've made here and ripping families in half, since some are here legally, some were born here and some are here illegally. It's not our faults they came here, but it's not their fault that "our" government has looked the other way for 20 YEARS!!! and in doing so has "allowed" them to come.

You want proof? I can tell you that my father lost his house painting business. He passed away three years ago, but he never got over the fact that people were coming here, and taking his work. Why could they do it? They could afford to do it because they didn't have to pay for a business license, a contractors license, a driver's license, car insurance, and liability insurance....all of which my father had to - BY LAW - purchase. This is what puts illegal workers at an advantage over legal workers...and for anyone who says white people WON'T do these jobs because they're lazy, either doesn't know $h!t or is a racist or both!

Remember that it's not just the strawberry picking jobs that they do. The Illegals are also taking good construction jobs that pay well. I think that the Illegals should be deported. If they want to come into the country they should come in legally. Legally the way my family did 100 years ago!

Thank you Yo!, that was my point on another question. Everyone thinks illegals can't own a business. Got news, they don't carry liability insurance or workers comp, and without sending a payroll report to the state, no one knows who or how many are working for them. The bids are to low, work is sub standard, ( how do they know building codes if they cant read or speak, how can they apply for building permits). They are running illegaly and endangering people as well.

Absolutely no amnesty should be granted to these people. If things in their country are so bad then they should change them not come here and try to change our country to suite them. I saw a poll a few weeks ago which said that the majority of Mexicans believe that Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California are or should be part of Mexico. Is that what they are trying to accomplish. And for you folks out there that keep saying that we should be nice to the illegal aliens because our ancestors were immigrants also, my Great grandparents came into this country legally as did most of the ancestors of legal citizens of the USA. If you soft hearted liberals who feel differently don't like how the majority of US citizens feel about illegal immigration the you can go to Mexico with the illegals when they are deported. Oh that is right Mexico has tougher immigration standards than the USA does they might not let you in to stay.
