MANY Would Rather LEECH Off The US TAXPAYERS- A Majority Of ILLEGAL ALIENS Live And Work In This Country And Then Send Their Money Back Home To Their Families (Whatever Nation Their Families Live In) Therefore DRAINING The Economy Even Further.
When The US Dollar Leaves The US... Its GONE From The American Economy.

Dear President Bush:

Iâ€™m about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like
to ask you to assist me. Iâ€™m going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico,
and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.
Iâ€™m sure they handle those things the same way you do here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that Iâ€™m on my way over?
Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driverâ€™s license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I wonâ€™t make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and donâ€™t enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox wonâ€™t mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

It is all about teaching an old dog a new trick. Most older immigrants will live in a community that is made of their peers. They function in the community and have no need to learn the language. Most immigrants do expect their children to learn the language and be good at it.

If you live in Little Italy, you don't need to learn English. Just use Italian. Those that want a new career and more opportunities will learn English.

Most learn English. The sad thing is, some of us think that immigrants don't know English. Some do, but their pronunciation is not as good. But grammatically, they are better than most American students.

How many of us are able to speak two languages?

Well, aren't we (and when I say we I mean you) the intolerant one?? If you've ever paid attention to the English language, it's (in my opinion) one of the most difficult languages out there. If I were moving from Asia or Mexico for a better life for me and my children, I definitely wouldn't halt my trip because I didn't know the native language, especially since the media portrays the USA as such a tolerant place to live and start a business (anyone need their nails done...hungry for some authentic Mexican food). If at least one person in your family can speak English and that doesn't prohibit you from getting a liquor and/or business license, why learn English. Like they say...only in America. :)

because, for example, say an immigrant from mexico (just saying this cause there's a lot of them where i live) come to america, they come because of whatever their reasons are, but they want to still pretend they are living in mexico while they are really living in america... i also think that if enough of them will move here that they will take over as the majority, we might as well start wearing sombreros and eating tacos and talking in spanish...

I have no problems at all with anyone wanting to go/live in a country not their own, but I believe they should learn the language or at least have a good command of it. I do understand that English is one of the hardest languages to learn as an adult but our country offers free classes to all who want to learn so there should be no problems at least making the attempt. The problem is that quite a lot of these people have little or no education in their native countries so the capacity to learn has not been cultivated. I pray they get the help they need =)

Nobody is required to learn english in order to become a citizen. They ask you simple Questions and they tell you ahead of time that you are going to be tested.It is very easy .I think foreigners living in a country not their own should learn at least basics. For their sake..Schools , Doctors,Employment...etc...But why would it bother you if they speak their native language? Do you think they are talking about you?Believe me , you are not that important. Lighten up .

They choose that way of life. Its easier for them not to speak English then to have some one to translate. Don't worry I heard that Spanish will be our second language and it would be mandatory for you to learn their language then for them to learn ours. Knowledge is power. I guess that they are to lazy to learn English

I think they are lazy. It's the same in the UK. They come over here and know they are in for a good time at the expense of the hard working indigenous population. They sponge off the state and give nothing in return. They clog up the health system, they put pressure on an already fragile societal structure and they annexe themselves from the majority and cause resentment wherever they go. There has to be, however, some apportioning of blame and culpability on the state. The governments allow this kind of thing to keep on happening and they are too soft on immigration laws. Every country should tighten up its entry rules to avoid problems in the future!

Yeah, because it's completely easy to go into a totally foreign country, get a job that pays well enough that you aren't spending all your time working and a place to stay, magically learn what "English Learning Course" means and hop right into school where, you know, everyone of your classmates will speak the exact same language as you!

English is one of THE hardest languages to learn, and I dare you to go to another country in hopes of bettering your life and stay away from people that can speak your language, understand, and help you survive in a country you know very little about.
Because classrooms aren't filled doesn't mean they don't want to learn how to communicate with other people, it may mean they just don't know HOW to get into a class to learn. Between working low-wage jobs in a city that's filled with people speaking a language completely unlike their own and being given no help to get pointed in the right direction, it's a bit hard.

Why did those who invaded the US and stole it from it's indigenious people- the native american- not learn their language instead of making anyone who survived speak English?

I believe that the support of the community is also important. Wouldn't it be nice if you would assist an immigrant to go to the services where they can easily access it and do tutorials. Some citizens in the USA don't spell words correctly though..Just look and read most of the questions here

I disagree with you. I believe that most immigrants who come to the USA do try to learn English. As with all of us, as we get older, it is often harder to learn new things (old dog, new tricks, and all), but I think their children generally pick it up quite well and quickly and help their parents and grandparents. However, when the new immigrants are working for sub-survival wages and so having to work 2 or more jobs to make ends meet, maybe they have a hard time finding room in their schedules (let alone energy after all that hard laboring work at 2 or more jobs) for regular ESL classes. As well, like one of the other responders said, people learn best what is needed in their lives and until not knowing English affects them negatively, they may not have the motivation to go to ESL classes.

who's really an immigrant. you don't call your so called "immigrants" a nuisance when there helping out America's economy. its the immigrants who preform the American building blocks of labor. maybe you should think about a world without immigrants. you wouldn't even be on this website right now. 500 years ago "immigrants" against their will built this country for free. go read a extremely educational book!!! you need it.
