Why do immigrants come to the UK ?

There are many reason to come to the UK. They may be fleeing war or famine or poverty. They may want to find a better job or they may just like England, but at the end of the day what does it have to do with us. If we needed to move else where we would expect the same right.

Yeah but say asylum and you get a house , benefit payments you get to work in the black economy for cash, you get free NHS treatment despite never paying a penny into the system in high areas of influx you usually get your own counter at the benefit office with an interpreter guiding you to claim for even more, then when you have got loads of our cash you go back to the country you escaped from for a holiday to give your relatives some nice English taxpayers money.

Will someone, someday make a distinction between immigrants, illegal immigrants, asylum seekers and recognised refugees?
It can't be right to lump every newcomer to the UK into one category.
In answer to your question: God knows! Wouldn't recommend it to anyone legal or illegal. I got out while the going was good. Never looked back.

Yep it's all here in the answers section, they get housing, and money for nothing. As for the bleeding hearts that say they have it tough well I know several people in this situation who work on the side get free housing and claim benefits. they all have cars and mobiles and do plenty of drugs. makes me sick. we should be much tougher on who comes into our country and how long they can stay.

If you are an immigrant you only need two weeks proof of earnings and the government will get you a mortage(sad but true). Plus most immigrants have come from war torn countries, They have probably seen there families killed and raped, It is get out or eventually die!
Some (30%) are criminals that have been exsiled or on the run and in there countries you get no benifits(the doll, council house) if you don't work. They may not be able to buy houses but at least they are not living in poverty. Plus we have a great education system and it's free, They have no education(how many lawers are from Iran of other african countries)apart frm the ones who learnt there trade here!

Have you been to some of the places they come from? There might be nice weather, but feeling like your breathing in an oven can wear thin after a while! Also, living in a wood hut or shanty town with little or no running water or sewers doesn't appeal to all. The West is still portrayed as a land of milk & honey, even if we take it for granted.

People immigrate because it is natural. People has been immigrating since the very beginning. Why do you eat? why do you breath? you a have a natural right to do that. It is the same with immigration.
Who invented the idea that a place "belongs" to the people who were born there? all the planet belongs to all the human beings.
As long as poverty exists, people will be searching for better opportunities. ItÂ´s simple, just economics.
Besides, why do you complain about it? think that the UK is rich thanks to all their former colonies.
You, UK people, immigrated to those countries first, you took everything you liked, and now you donÂ´t want all those immigrants? why donÂ´t you better thank God for not having to pay all the damage your country did.

Because they know they'll get free housing, free healthcare, free schools free everything else and some stupid liberal will always stick up for them. They come here just to sponge off us even though they hate us and our country like the 7/7 bombers did. Meanwhile oridnary decent British people who have worked and paid taxes for years get **** all.

A pakistani immgrant recently beat my bf's boss over the head with a truncheon and caused a wound which needed 10 stitches over a row about the family cat! The immigrant is NOT being charged because he played the race card, whilst my bf's boss is going to be charged with allegedly making racist remarks. So its ok to beat someone unconcious with a truncheon just because you're a Pakistani?!?! This country has gone to the dogs badly.

Immigrants get a ot of the same benefits available to UK residents - housing, food, transport and the best chance of never having to go back to their "homeland"

The Government cannot control the tide and we're left with disgruntled citizens who see all their benefits being taken by people who may have no right being in this country in the first place. Having said that, EU residents such as the Poles are free to enter the country at will ... They're usually hard working and at least semi-skilled (plumbers, dentists, lecturers etc.) and take jobs here because the money's more than they would earn at home.
