Why do people assume that Muslims are guests in the UK?

Good point well made but not all Muslims like to class themselves as British and as such they don't identify themselves as being British. This causes friction in the towns as you in essence have 2 communities living alongside each other and there in lies the problem.

I have to remove my motorcycle helmet to go into a shop or pay for petrol. Muslim women defend their right to wear a veil at all times and get away with it. Why do shop owners believe I am more likely to rob them than a Muslim woman is?

If I went around everywhere in a black balaclava and refused to take it off because it was my lifestyle choice, I'd soon be ostracised and probably arrested too. It's pretty selfish of these people who insist on wearing full face coverage when it clearly goes against all common sense (as in the case of the teaching assistant), it's clearly not necessary for their religion because so many in the same faith do not wear it.

Any ladies fancy going over to Iran and wearing hot pants and a bikini top in the street? You'd be stoned to death!

My point is that they do not make an effort to fit in, they act like guests themselves, so people think of them as such. You don't see most people complaining about people who perhaps have an Indian accent but do not wear the full face gear, because they've accepted this country and it's traditions as their home and made an effort to fit in.

It's not the fact that Muslims are here, it's the fact that a lot of them want to change the British way of life. We are told so many things are offensive to Muslims and we must stop doing them but why should we? The UK was not a Muslim country and it is understandable that a lot of people don't want it turned into one. We don't want our sky lines to be filled with Mosques. Muslims have their own councils, why not just try to integrate instead of demanding special rights like this? It's not the fact that we assume Muslims are guests, it's the fact that they segregate themselves. If a school has the same uniform rules for everyone, then 'everyone' should include Muslims. They should wear the same things as all the other children. Just very recently a Muslim school teacher has been suspended for wearing the veil whilst teaching in class and anyone with any sense can see that this will make it harder for the children to hear and see the teacher's facial expressions. If Muslims tried to fit in a bit more then they probably wouldn't be regarded as guests so much. Although a lot were born in the UK, there are still a lot who don't even speak English and make no effort to learn the language. If I went to a Muslim country, I wouldn't expect things to be changed for me and I would expect to have to learn the language. I certainly wouldn't demand translators and want English schools funded by the government (yes there are Muslim only, government funded schools in the UK). This hopefully give some answers to your question.

The Islamo-Facists in the UK (or Muslims, as you refer to them) are only guests as they bring hate, intolerance, and death to the UK same as they do to other countries. Look at Thailand, Dufar, Sudan, US, France, Spain, etc. Wake up and see what is happening. These 'muslims' are invading the free world to attempt to change it to their freedom stricken lands which they enjoy. They are guests as the smart brits will hopefully send them back to Iran soon.

I disagree.

The lifestyle that Muslims follow is definitely not the British way. If you want to be accepted, you must conform. If I went to a Muslim country, I would be expected to fit in. If I didn't, I could expect to be arrested. At least here you can express yourself freely, as you say, and have freedom of speech, etc, but you must always bear in mind that these are privileges, and not rights. If yoiu abuse them, they will be taken away one way or another.

Act like a guest,get treated like a guest!! I am British,and do not consider Islam/Muslims part of MY culture! In fact, I would rather it was not here at all!! You people assume/demand far too much. Perhaps thats the problem!

They are until they or their kids speak with a British accent, and support the national team even over their originating country(don't care which sport).
They must also be willing to fight in a war for Britain, or at the very least fight for no-one else. But lets leave that till the time comes.

It's not values, culture or lifestyle that Britain's fear losing. It's Britain itself. And we may need reassuring.
Staying in one community, not socialising enough to take on our accent, and supporting the Pakistani Cricket team when they play England doesn't reassure us.
For most it is not about Islam, race or values, it's about not participating.

When they come to the UK and speak in their own language amoungst themselves. I honestly believe that if your coming from another country to live in UK you should at least have the curtosey to learn the language. My partner works in a place where he deals with a lot of various cultures - and 9 times out of 10 they have to put their children on the phone to translate the call as they cant be bothered to at least attempt to learn the language

I am not saying all muslims etc do this - so dont think I am putting everyone into a bracket. But - thats the one thing that grates me. As I think it does quite a few people

I don't assume anything.... so don't make assumptions about that's how we all feel, or you are no better than the people that you are condemning.

My motto is live and let live, whatever creed or colour you are..... I love the ethnic diversity of this country and I hope it continues.
But I do think the Muslim community need to integrate like they did when I was growing up in South west london... these days it seems that they have shrunk back into their own communities, and I suspect its because they have been chased there by the media in this bloody country.

You are not guests. The word guest implies that you are welcome and you are most certainly not. If you were interested in being welcomed to the UK you would try to integrate but you dont. As soon as England has its first Nationalist government you will see how welcome as guests you are.

Muslims are not just guests in this country.....they are Unwanted guests in this country!! It will remain that way until they try to integrate into our society and stop trying to force their way onto US! If we moved to a Muslim country we would be required to integrate and follow Your customs.............So Why Won't You Do That Here!!!!!!

As long as it harms no one? Well sadly it has and 7/7 is proof of that.

Muslims seem to want a complete change in the British way of life, a change to their islamic way. This is becoming apparrent in todays climate of troubles caused by these terrorists who are more than proud to claim the Muslim way.

I am still amazed about the Muslim protest in London earlier this year, about the Danish cartoons, where Muslims held banners claiming clearly that more terror was coming to Europe! And you want me to allow you to change Britian to an Islamic state???

Is it any wonder we have reservations about peaceful intentions and form an opinion that Muslims are dangerous?

I only react to what is actually happening in our society. It's one thing to debate the ethics and philosiphy of intergration and whats best for us all, than have people who actually create terror AND murder innocent members of the publics, people of all faiths for that matter!

a lot of muslims who lived in India actualy supported Pakistan during the war(Indo-Pak )and to make matters worse the bloody yanks gave them (pakis) fighter aircraft.
