Why do people get so fired up about illegall immigrants 3 years ago noone got this fired up?

let's see...the soviet union collapsed, leaving communism discredited, so they had to find someone to hate...so they picked on gays for awhile, but that's played out, so now they're picking on illegal immigrants...if you wanna mesmerize the people and get em eating out of your hand you have to give 'em someone or something to hate and fear...it's the GOP standard

fixing the illegal alien problem would help fix the education system , the healthcare system , dirty air and water , and unemployed americans to name a few

Um actually I was fired up about 10 years ago wishing more people knew about what was going on in America.
UM Education AND Healthcare are all going down the sht hole due to illegal immigrants.

I for one was making noise about this when the 2000 campaign was going on, I said then I would support W but he needed to get serious about the illegals sneaking across our un guarded borders problem.

its bad when you are born american and cant find a job in the Texas area you dont see many white people working in goverment jobs or in low income housing or in city jobs there was only like 3 white people at my job on my shift now theres only 2

The problem has always been there but this administration has focused on it in an attempt to distract from its other failures. And yes, the American people are media driven. But it doesn't change the fact that illegal immigration has long reached a crisis in this country. Most of the things you mention in your question are directly connected to the problem, and would be that much easier to deal with if the problem of illegal immigration was dealt with.
Vice versa, as well!

This is not three years ago and we're talking about millions of illegals almost got amnesty. We don't want to support them! You showed your true colors when you used the word politicos. He*l we aren't illiterate! Stolen pensions and healthcare fiacos are just the tip of the iceberg. We, the middle class Americans are tired of taking up the slack for the whole d*mn world! Especially in our own country! Wise up, we're onto you!

I think so. I think it has been an effective way to distract us about this meaningless war we are fighting and losing. It is a scapegoat for not supplying the necessary tools to educate our children. It sidetracks us from our whithering pension, corporate America misappropriating funds and getting the "out of jail, free" card. It is a means to justify why health insurance and free college education is not offered to everyone. They are trying to promote that illegal aliens are taxing our economy...not the poverty, overpopulated jails or the criminal corporate CEO that commit incredible acts of fraud and end up with fabulous pensions and/or severance pays.

I think it's because certain politicians are trying to make a name for themselves by backing certain issues. In Connecticut they tried to get a law to make "them" here legally. If my grandparents had to abide by the rules and HAD to learn English, so should it be for everyone else who wants to be an American. We are the land of the free and we WERE based on hard work and a strong backbone; don't let it get ruined now!

The american people are just jealous and even though the immigration reform did not continue, to all those senators that voted not to continue, they shall suffer the lack of votes in 2008 when reelection comes around. It is then we will see who has the louder voice the MEXICANS or the americans. This is when politicos will suffer the consequences of not supporting the non-white culture... There were 2 hispanic radio stations that gathered up over 2 million letters together in support of the immigration reform, no white people did what the radio hosts did because they just whine and complained over the phones...

Thank you razor jim. there has always been people fired up but now more people are just getting fed up already. Who do you think causes all the problems that you talk about> Notice those problems have gotten worse along with the growing immigration? its not a coincidence.

You are just seeing it covered in the mainstream media now, people have been fighting to close our borders to all but legal traffic for years...

But if you want a defining moment when in my opinion most citizens said ok, that's enough - the marches in our streets demanding amnesty... Education is ALWAYS at the top of my issue list.....

I will say it is because we citizens are tired of them working here, not paying taxes, getting free health insurance, food stamp assistance, etc. There are thousands and thousands of american citizens that cannot afford even basic health care, and some get food stamps (some get a lot because "they know how to work the system"). There are also some employers that allow illegal immigrants to take up to three months off to go "home" and know their jobs are still here waiting for them. How many americans can do that? We feel that if they work and live here, pay taxes and buy health care and get the usual vacation time. Illegals get a lot of freebies. It just isn't right or fair.
