I'm from Scotland but i certainly don't think of your country the way you describe it, it would not be my first choice to live in,good for a holiday tho.not that britain is any better off as well there is the highest unemployment rate here since the place began and is in a bit of a state so your not the only one's,that's why i'm getting the f**k outta here!!!

I recently asked a person from Sudan why come to the US. I asked because I see the poverty here and the racism and corrupt politicians, etc etc etc.

He said that I do not know what it is like to watch your neighbors woken in the night and shot in the street, to fear for my life on a daily basis, to see your children threatened, to have friends and family memebers murdered before your eyes.

It humbled me!!!!!!!!!

Its mostly propaganda. In the 50's, 60's, etc, there was a huge polulation of blacks who would probably beg to differ with the rosy outlook you were led to beleive in. One of my friend's fathers (who grew up in the 40's and 50's in America) had to pick cotton each day after scholl at a rate of $2.50/per one hundred pounds of cotton. I wouldn't call that the land of milk and honey. there may be other forces at work, but I do think there is a tendency to glamoruize and idealize the past and make it into an Eden that was never there to begin with. Listen to some Woody Guthrie and you might understand that the typical American was always dirt poor and taken advantage of by the rich, but before now had more land resources to manage with and needed less education to nmake a living.

America is what you make of it. If you go to school and get educated, or start your own business then you will go far. If your only aspiration is to make enough to "hang out & party" or buy, buy , buy! you will be 1 paycheck away from the poor house.

Okay, that may be your financial report, but there is no way that you know the rest of ours. Mine is certainly not in that shape. If we are not the land of Milk and Honey, why are people still keep coming and sneaking across borders and many from everywhere wanting to live in the US. Yes, we are the best. The INS study? I did not see you post it. Mexican immigrants are a burden on US, they need to go home. Illegals are a drain every where they go. People like you that post nothing but words and have no idea of what other peoples finances are, just have to much time on their hands. Get a life, a job and pay your bills. Others do, I do.

The land of milk and honey is Canaan. In the US the streets are paved with gold (or cheese, I don't quite remember).

One report isn't enough to base your entire philosophy on. America is still the best chance anyone has to get ahead and out of their station in life. We do not have a caste system or a corrupt government stealing food and supplies from the people. The 5% unemployment here is better than almost any other country and our $13T GDP is at the top.

Economically, the US may not be perfect, but it is the best option.
