Why do so many Mexicans seem to actually believe the SW USA belongs to them?

Why do so many Mexicans seem to actually believe the SW USA belongs to them?
|
There is post after post on Answers from Mexicans claiming they have a legal right to be here because this land belonged to Mexico. They are Mexican, therefore they make some sort of illusive connection between the two. But what I am noticing is that some of the land they claimed belonged to Mexico never did. And in truth, the SW USA is just that. So SERIOUSLY please. Are they taught this somewhere that the SW USA is still disputed territory? Or are they just making this statement to try to make enough people believe it that it could be true someday?
Serious answers please. Additional Details No, those of you who haven't read my q and a and haven't read my blog and seem to have really poor reading comprehension skills, no, I am not trying to start a race war in yahoo answers. When I came here it already existed. I am trying to understand an opposing view. You seem to lack experience in what I am talking about. Please don't project that onto me.

Its because of egg heads like La Raza that's imply the thoughts in thousands. The mentality of the Mexican people in Mexico equals the mentality of a sheep. That's why the country is all messed up.
I tell you the British where also here and proclaimed this land, do you honestly think that they also have some say? Its a case of you win some, you lose some.
Oh and to the "FAKE" Baby F. (2Hrs) ago I see you still admire me how sweet. HA HA
Mexico's economy is very vibrant, their vibrant in selling Popsicles and oranges. lol |

You just want to incite race wars, no?
We are ALL immigrants, legal or illegal.....They will always come to this country.....You cannot have a all white America, sorry, its not going to happen.
If you want an all white America, go to another country, perhaps somewhere in Europe, GOOD LUCK! |

Actually at one time, the SW part of the U.S. did belong to Mexico.
It was sold to the U.S. I believe or some such thing in the 1700 or 1800's.
Go to Wiikipeda and look it up |

it belongs to the us, but it used to belong to mexico. honestly, does it really even matter if they think that it belongs to them or not. This whole country was founded by immigrants and the only real Amreicans living here are the ones that some of our ancestors put in reservations. |

They are uneducated and believe anything they are told. It's common for them to make up facts as well. They also believe they are Native Americans, lmao. They try to live off of Native American legacy. They don't stipulate that they are "South of the border jumper who speak Spanish" tribe. |

Well, whoever used to own what and when is an argument ... but it doesn't seem to hold water.
Technically, the entire U.S. is stolen. Spain took some, France took some, Britain took some. Parts of it may have used to belong to Mexico, but most of it belonged to Native Americans. The entire nation was illegally occupied at one point, but the problem is that the Natives didn't have courts of law and so could make no legally binding claims. What happened, then, was that the Brits and the Spaniards gobbled up the land and claimed legal ownership.
I, personally, have no idea whether Mexico ever legally owned parts of the now-U.S. I do know that Mexicans inhabited parts of the U.S.
But anyway, it's all a wash, legally speaking. Today, the borders of the U.S. are internationally legally recognized, so any other countries' claims to any land herein are moot points.
People may have open disputes in their minds, but the disputes are closed in matters of law. This is not to say that anything I'm describing is necessarily fair, but it is what it is. |

I would assume that since the southwest united states use to be part of Mexico, some still claim it. If they keep running across the borders and multiplying in the United States, those states will legally belong to they again--majority rules. Take a look at the census. |

Many Mexicans believe that parts of the Southern US were actually the homeland, Aztan, spoken of in their ancient myths. Read the link I've provided for info. Look under Aztlan Interviews for the best explanations. |

they eat cactus; and we all know mesquite cactus is what mesquline is made from, That is why they are mental inferior and capable of surviving in the heat, they are drugged all the time. I am in Arizona am we got the land legally we killed the native people and took it. That is the way land has been acquired from the dawn of man. |

Most mexicans are barelel literate and have little education regarding history. They believe what they are told.
Then they support their corrupt politicians who see the current immigration problem as a chance at the biggest land grab in history.
While our own corrupt politicos could care less about we legal residents,as long as there is profit for them in it. |

Pay attention folks
these are the enemies
and you had better get your head out of your ***
and wake up
before you wake up
and your country isn't your country anymore!
The media estimates that almost
One Million Illegal Foreign Migrants and their Advocates
Militantly marched in the streets of America
Under the Flag of Mexico.
Their agenda is for
Our Federal Laws to be Ignored,
and their Criminal Trespass into these Sovereign United States
to be Rewarded with Unlimited Benefits
that include the Rights of American Citizenship!
As these large mobs of Foreigners
marched Proudly Under the Flag of a Foreign Country
to demand the Right to live and prosper in the United States,
they claimed that the issue is Immigration.
But their own actions reveal what is in fact
a Determined Effort to Force Americans
to accept Large Foreign Colonies in our midst,
and to Pay Handsomely for the Privilege of doing so.
We have both the Right
and the Moral Obligation
to Defend America,
and “Just Say ‘No'!!"

They openly state
they have "The armor, the infantry and the artillery"
to wage war here.
Beyond any doubt,
the people marching in our streets
under Mexican and other foreign flags,
over pending immigration legislation,
are engaged in a WAR against our nation.
The U.S. Government has failed its duty
to protect this land from these invaders;
invaders who are openly stating
they intend to takeover a portion of this land
and carve out their own "Mestizo nation of Aztlan."

Some Latino Protesters Support 'Reconquista' Of The Southwest USA!
Posted on Tuesday, April 11 @ 07:56:47 CDT
Topic: Illegal Immigrant Gangs Terrorists
The true colors of many Latinos
have been on display in the past week of protests,
and they weren't just red, white and blue.
They were also red, white and green (Mexico),
yellow, blue and red (Ecuador),
red, yellow and green (Bolivia),
blue and white (El Salvador, Guatemala)
and red, white, blue and black (Anahuac).
The Mexica movement claims Olmec ancestry
and aims to take back the continent
from "racist thieving" Europeans
on behalf of the "Nican Tlaca," or indigenous people.
Closer to the mainstream is the Aztlan movement,
which claims Aztec and Spanish ancestry
and wants only the western half of the U.S.
for "La Raza de Bronze."
A leading Aztlan group
is the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan,
known by its Spanish acronym MEChA.
Like many other Hispanic groups,
MEChA came out of the "Brown Power" movement
of the late '60s.
Its founding motto was,
"For those in the race, everything.
For those outside the race, nothing."
Many of California's leading Hispanic politicians
were "Mechistas" in college,
including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa
and former Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante.
Bustamante's refusal to condemn MEChA
contributed to his defeat by Arnold Schwarzenegger
in the 2003 gubernatorial race.
Posing As a student group,
MEChA tends to be dominated by immigrants' children
and descendants, not immigrants themselves.
But the views of most Mexicans (75 Percent)
aren't far away from MEChA's.
The major players in the Hispanic lobby deny any racist motives. |

I am under the impression that they are taught this in there public schools system. There is no disputed territory, there is only latinos that are so completely dissatisfied with their own corrupt countries they have an idea that if they fight for different land they will rid themselves of their cultural biases. This is not the case at all...The people have the same social structure (or lack there of) no matter where they are or where they move to, these people don't seem to understand that changing their venue doest mean that the problems will go away. |

I understand that the history books in Mexico printed before Fox's adminstration actually said that. Polls conducted in Mexico confirms that the majority of Mexicans ACTUALLY believe that and therefore ACTUALLY BELIEVE that they have a right to come here and have us pay for their children's education without any permission from us whatsoever.

Mexico lost a war with the United States 150 years ago. Read about the Treaty Of Guadalupe-Hidalgo. Any claims against US territory are specious. Mexico's economy is not as vibrant as ours, hence the pressure to use ANY sob-story to try and carve off another piece of america. Mexico's not alone in that, but as neighbor and hopefully ally, they'll be saying things to their own people about all of that, and put a cork in the Reconquista thing...
but, even if they don't, we can start teaching more US/Mexico history in schools, and lay it out in black-and-white. It's easily available for reference, it boggles the mind why it's even a discussion topic...but, like I said, ANY sob-story is fair game...
There's 110 million people in Mexico, apparently a majority now think it's america's responsibility to give them money for all perpetuity. |

Have you not heard of the immigration numbers yet? If it is not theirs now, it will be to morrow, so it makes little difference. The Latinos have the majority. America is Latino now. Adios |

how u gonna say it didnt belong to mexico..... it did used to belong to mexico, well not exactly mexico, umm i think it was called new spain back then. and then with santanna and everything (he used to be president of mexico) well a lot of mexicans think that they had a opinion about mexico selling part of the country to the usa, but they never told them until it was already sold. it has a lot to do with that. some people think that if it wasnt for him, this part would still be in mexico, and probably is true. cuz if it was for mexicans back then, they wouldnt of gave it to your country.....
and hey, u r trying to make some big race war in here in yahoo answers... there r enough of those wars already. please, i know that a lot of mexicans come to ur land, but still... they only doing it because ur country doesnt help mexico with tradings and stuff.. so there r not jobs in here.... anyways, please dont cause a lot of problems in this place, its pretty nice and having racial conflicts is gonna ruin it. thank u |

im not realy sure why they think that ........but some........because i have asked them ....... believe that because the grass is greener that they have a right to the other side of the fence..........not all though .........others think that we are here for the taking and if there is enough of them here that we'll just give it back...no kidding about 15 of my friends told me that |

The Mexican people are desperate to come here. They have no future or hope to rise out of poverty in their own country. In order to do this they will make any claim - from this was really our land to the US couldn't make it without us. The Mexican government will back it up, because it is extremely dependent on money sent from the states to its citizens.
I do not judge the Mexican people for saying radically dubious things in order to stay in the US. I've never had to watch my kids go without food. |
