Why do so many asylum seekers deliberately head of Britain?

Because they KNOW what they get BEFORE they get here.This Government loves giving out taxpayers money, to just about anyone that wants it,except of course, to the indigenous people that NEED a helping hand!

As of December 2004, Spain had an estimated 1.2 million unauthorized immigrants. In May 2005 Spain granted 700,000 illegal immigrants amnesty.

In 2006 there are 200,000 to 400,000 foreigners living without authorization in France.

161,780 foreigners became British citizens in 2005; 70 percent were from Africa and Asia. About 29,300 foreigners and their dependents applied for asylum in 2005-2006.

This question is just an excuse to encourage racism. We need immigrants in this country to do the jobs for which we have a labour shortage. We need people to settle here and to raise families that will provide the taxes that will pay for the pensions our own ageing population will demand in a few years time. The demographics here are that, with people living longer, there will be, in about 20 years time, more retired people than young people entering the workforce.

And don't talk about foreign nationals importing their own cultures - look at the way the Brits have colonised the Spanish costas.

Most asylum seekers head for UK because we have an open door policy on asylum. We have a long history of taking care of refugees [asylum seekers]. Ask yourself a question. Does having a big population lead to problems? If you think it does then I would ask you to think about this question. Q: Where is the most heavily populated place on earth? A: Downtown Manhattan. It is also the richest by the way. People work, people save, people spend, people pay tax. Money makes the world go around. The more people you've got, the more you can do and the more gets done.

the country is a soft touch. they (asylum seekers) are looked after better than the natives. you can see for yourself, look at the way the burden has ruined our structure of the economy. NHS and pentions and pentioners have and are suffering.
We have the "paved with gold" still linked to us.

sadly this country has been come a soft touch and they know it ....the other country's don't hand out money and houses to them as soon as they arrive ... we need to be abit more like them then we won't have so many here don't get me wrong if the persons risks being killed in there own country because of there views and beliefs we should help... but not when its just to get a free ride

Because the government makes it so bloody easy for them. Think about it, you're an asylum seeker. You come to Britain and the government says to you 'Here, have a house'. What are you going to say? No thanks?? Course not. Then they say 'Here, have a car'. What are going to say? I don't want one thanks?? NO! COURSE NOT!! It's not entirely their fault. Yes, they are supposed to stay in whatever country they first arrive in, but if they keep getting moved along to other countries until they finally arrive here and our GOVERNMENT makes things so very comfortable for them, what else can they do? They're only going with the flow. It is the governments of this country and the others in Europe which are to blame!

One big reason is that our language, English, is really the international language, so if you want to start a new life, where better than a country where people can understand you. This is a bonus to all the free handouts, if you do not like it have Â£3000 and go back!

Because other countries, like France or spain even though they take a lot of asylum seekers on, have more strict regulations on who comes in and out. For example, in countries such as the USA you have to have a specific reason for going (ie wanting to live, not just going on holiday) and something to offer the country such as a trade or skill etc. Britain is one of the places where these people go towards due to the large amount of wealth and benefits that Britain will offer them. Many of them (depending where they are from), will graduate towards the wealth aspect, ie being paid more... However, if this is what they are aiming for and they are not causing anyone any harm, then I don't see anything being wrong with that or if people are fleeing war or geniunely here for a good reason.
