Why do so many people say there is no such thing as "Irish illegal" immigrants living in the U.S.?
|
The prime minister of Ireland today is appearing before a joint session of Congress to make a plea on behalf of illegal Irish immigrants after disclosing that he has spent the past several months wrangling with individual members for a special visa deal.
Irish immigrant groups have been pushing for a bill that would create a new set of visas available only to the Irish, including those living in America illegally, ever since a bill that would have created a path to legalization for illegal immigrants of all nationalities collapsed last summer.
With significant political clout thanks to the well-established Irish-American community and a relatively small request — the number of Irish coming to America has dwindled in recent years as Ireland’s economy has expanded — the groups are hopeful lawmakers will be sympathetic to their cause.
Why are we OK with these illegal immigrants?

Well, if we were all that ok with illegal Irish immigrants, the Irish ambassador wouldn't be wasting his time lobbying with Congress. Life is different for the Irish now that the former speaker of the House Tip O'Neil is gone. He was one of the ring leaders of the Irish mafia in Congress, along with Ted Kennedy in the Senate. Together they passed the Diversity Visa Lottery program to allow illegal Irish a path to legalize. To do it, they had to extend the same priviledge to others around the world though. If you look at the program, you'll note that the United Kingdom isn't eligible, however Northern Ireland is. For the purposes of this program alone, Northern Ireland is considered separate from the rest of the UK. However, there aren't that many Irish minded votes in Congress so to get it done it had to be offered to others as well. I think it's unlikely that they'll get a special provision for Ireland alone, unless you think our president is Mr. O'bama. |

Well for one they are educated and are as qualified as any regular American. They speak English and have not been know to cause trouble. True they are still illegal Immigrants but with such a large Irish American community there will always be people standing up for them. |

yes there are illegal irish in the U.S. I'm old as hell and never met one, but I'm sure there are a couple roaming our country. If they sold drugs, joined gangs, waved irish flags, protested for rights they do no deserve, and demanded amnesty for their crimes they would stick out more. |

I think they should be deported back to Ireland. |

I'm okay with it.
The Irish are not like the Mexicans, who comprise most of the illegal immigrant population. The Irish don't run massive drug cartel operations; the Irish aren't prone to criminal activity; the Irish do not join gangs. Basically, the Irish are like us.
I don't see any reason why the illegal Irish immigrants shouldn't be given a chance to reside in America legally.
But the illegal Mexicans, on the other hand, should not be given citizienship, as they breed prolifically, cause crime, join gangs, are promiscuous, abuse welfare and consume more in social services than they pay in taxes. |

An ILLEGAL Immigrant, the name describes it, illegal.
They have broken immigration laws, that's a crime, what law will be next?
Would they allow a person with a criminal record in another country into the US or are there different degrees of Illegal, like Irish illegal isn't as bad a swedish illegal or mexican illegal |

We have people from all over the world in this country illegally. Some come across the border illegally. Others enter on work, student or visitor Visas and just stay. Either way, they are still in the country illegally. |

I think all illegal immigrants should be treated the same regardless if they come from Ireland, Mexico, India, or any where else. The problem of illegal immigration is one that was created by the federal government. It was created through the ignoring of immigration laws for the benefit of business and the beauracratic red tape necessary for legal immigration. Congress must revamped the entire immigration policy. |

Who says we are OK with these illegal immigrants, I'm not! Illegal is illegal and has nothing to do with country of origin. |

We are not. The base problem with the illegal aliens is not their source... the base problem is over population of the United States coupled to the proclivity to do crime. Sadly, a LOT of Mexican Nationals that made a run for the border were also running from the Federal Police. They wound up here and they are not doing the communities they live in any good.. and certainly will wind up going home. Per the Irish.. they don't seem to collect welfare when they get here.. know the language.. but they are illegal aliens just as the rest are. They should be deported.
But no one.. no one at all doesn't know they are here albeit in small numbers. |

As an Irish person I am deeply ashamed of Irish Illegal immigrants in the USA, they have no right to be there, they are all Criminals and should be deported. What Right has the Irish head of state to ask for special Dispensation for Irish Criminals? Mexican,Chinese, Irish if they commit immigration crime they are Criminals. But it seems the US administration turns a blind eye.I feel sorry for the American Patriots who try to uphold the law in that respect.
I believe there may be 100,000 Illegal Irish immigrants or more in the USA if they were all deported and sent home, perhaps there would be less need for parasitic Nigerians to Migrate to our country to fill the supposed population gap, in other words Irish Illegal Immigrants in the USA are contributing to the Cultural and ethnic death of Ireland.
No amnesty for 'any' Illegal immigrant in the USA!!! |

Ya heard me
 |
I don't see the Irish spawning kids left and right that they cant afford, I don't see them shacking up with 15 plus to a two bedroom, I don['t see them rushing in line to get any freebie they can, I don't see them doing what some illegals do, so thus, you won't ever get the anger about them. But in the end, ANY illegal should be deported. But those in the U.K. should deal with their own things and leave the U.S. alone, get me...... |

I believe they also need to be deported, or required to carry a green card/visa. You see, I'm half mexican, but I can against illegal immigration from the south, from the north, from anywhere, you name it. We now have laws to protect our nation from people who are documented. BUT, the government does not enforce these laws, they need to be enforced. In order to keep security, and keep out those that can do harm. Take care. |

Well, could it be; unless you come over in a plane or a ship, you're not going to get here. Your Passport must be stamped, then you and your baggage must be checked, and all your papers must be verified. I've yet to see anyone at the Mexican border doing this.<p>
Your source is flawed. |

Yes there are Irish nationals as well as nationals from all countries in the world residing in the US (I guess).
All are breaking US law and so should be deported - they have no respect for the law - by definition? |
