I totally agree. My family immigrated (legally) to this country years ago. They busted their humps working any job they could find. They helped build the beautiful (or what once was) city we live in. They would never ever think of going on welfare, breaking the law or taking advantage of any of the other systems which are offered to them. They were farmers who worked hard before they immigrated and appreciate what our country was able to offer them... a better life. It did not come easy. They were spit on, ridiculed, taken advantage of, beat up and down... nothing was "handed" to them, nor would they "take" it if it was. I despise what I see nowadays... and despise the people who are taking advantage of the system who do nothing but complain. Don't play the race card crap with me. The way I look at it is if you are in our country illegally then you should have your *** kicked out. If you break the law in this country then you should pay the price and have your *** kicked out. I'm sure there are many law abiding and hardworking people who would do anything to come here for a better life. We should stop wasting our time on the deadbeats and work on making this a beautiful and better place to live again. Be appreciative of what we have and don't take it for granted. Just my opinion.

The race card is over played. When one side says I am against illegal immigrants, someone has to respond back with why do you hate Mexicans. I agree with Sashie, this is about upholding our laws. I am for legal immigration. Legal immigrants deserve any form of amnesty before an Illegal immigrant does. Legal immigrants are screened and do not have to put up with any form of inhumane treatment like illegal immigrants do. If they just came here legally there would be no slave wage jobs available and Americans can get the jobs, health care benefits that they so rightly deserve.

people who say that this country was founded by illegal immigrants have no clue what they're talking about. these people do not understand the concept of legal and illegal. If you break the law of the land by moving there, you are illegal. Since there were no established laws in this country before it was founded, the founders were not illegal immigrants.

To be honest, the race card is thrown around here on both sides of the equation. I think it has to do with the way people ask their questions. I tend to insult if insulted. I stand for pro-amnesty because in my business it is the immigrant who has the work ethic, and all the race cards pulled will never change my view. We provide an immigration attorney to make them legal, and we bring them in legally via the Labor Department, pending their approved visas. This has been ongoing in California for years. That it is out of hand, it is. But insulting eachother in this forum accomplishes nothing but hatred, which is quite prevalent here.

It's not about race that's just another example of how extreme the issue has become. Mainly we just want people who are here illegally out of the country and we could careless what race you are. I just don't think the illegals have helped their cause any by all the protests with Mexico flags and demanding things they are not entitled to. The Mexicans have made it a race issue with all this brown pride and the land deal is how race became an issue.

People are intolerant of opposing views; the race card is used by both sides for lack of a better argument; aggressive approaches never work and brings the worst out in people. The interrogater should have a consciousness of the probable results to a loaded question. It's also a semantics game when the issue of lawbreaking gets placed on the table and there is no way out.

People really need to stick to the issues and quit the name calling. Immigration reform is such an emotional issue for many; we need to work at getting our Congress on the right track. It is after all their one BIG drawback, among many others.

If we are really honest, we must admit that racial barriers have always existed. In my field of real estate, no one with a real estate license can discriminate and we learn to work and be tolerant of all nationalities without judgment. We learn discipline in a sort of respecting manner or we don't get to use that license.

In this forum the issue is a very emotional with many complexities; there will be very few willing to accept our differences, whether it is ethnicity or political preference. My stand for anti-illegals does not include bashing those people who likewise oppose me.

Maybe we should all have our moral license taken away when we are disrespectful to others. I live in a city full of illegals, but who am I to blame them? Our Congress needs to get off their butts and represent this great nation and maybe then our social services won't be damned.
