You're absolutely right. The true cost of this cheap labour is far above what it would cost to pay a Brit a decent wage to do the same job.

If you include the cost of keeping the person they displaced on the dole, and the extra burden on national services, immigrant labour is incredibly expensive. Why not just give a subsidy to low paid jobs so that British people can afford to live on the wages and get off benefits?

The crime rate, housing crisis and standard of living for British people would all improve no end.

Its not the natives who are too lazy to work or do menial jobs its the employers that are too greedy to pay a fair wage, given the choice go on the dole or work in McDonalds for 12 hours a day including weekends for minimum wage and get treated like crap i know which i would choose. When the economic boom hit Brown opened the doors to everyone unskilled and skilled. It should have been a matter of "great we'll train our own up and only allow in the skilled from outside"

Gordon Brown is to Economics as what i am to brain surgery, not very useful! he never thought of damage limitations after the boom was over. Thats why skilled natives are in the bookies picking horses and their noses. Oh yes he made lots of revenue from immigration but where is all of the bank of Englands money now? thats right bailing out the private banks!

I'm a third generation immigrant and If I had no choice I would work 80 hours to pay my mortgage and bills, but everyone has a choice....I chose to study to better my life and hence I have no need to do 80 hours a week.

My Gran, a first year immigrant was not unskilled when she came to England, she was a nurse, my mother a 2nd generation immigrant is a teacher.

It's nice to know that we are appreciated!!!!

Because it's the only argument big business has to get workers that will work for pennies instead of dollars. They also use the racist claim (that you just don't like people of a certain color or nationality).
More money in big business pockets and none in yours is the goal. Many countries citizens are going through this same thing.

I think everyone can read, but that doesn't mean they're obliged to agree with you.

For a start, it was the British - both government and private industry - that invited the immigrants over to do the jobs they couldn't fill. Wimpey, McAlpine and and all the construction firms opened offices in Ireland in the 50s and 60s to recruit Irish labourers to build the road network and railways. They said at the time "We can't get British workers to fill the positions". End of story.

In the 60s the British government ran major recruitment campaigns in the Caribbean, because once again they couldn't find British workers to work on the public transport systems - the buses, trains and tube systems.

In the 70s, Asian people came across and made successes of small businesses that British people said were uneconomical - corner shops, takeaways, launderettes, etc. They did this by opening earlier, staying up later and employing mostly family members.

The history of Britain is the history of immigrants working harder, getting up earlier, going home later than the indigenous population.

As for it being the children and grandchildren of immigrants who are on the dole, it's not brown or black faces you see going to the (usually Asian) corner shop dressed in their pyjamas and a housecoat. The vast majority of the long-term unemployed are white trash, milking the benefits system. The current government facilitated these home-grown slackers by moving hundreds of thousands of them onto 'disability benefit' when their primary disability is being unable to get dressed in the morning.

Notice as well that the knucklescrapers in the BNP play a very finely nuanced game with the pyjama constituency. They encourage the belief amongst them that they will throw out all the immigrants and all fine Anglo-Saxon folk will find jobs at Â£50 an hour. If you read their manifesto, it says no such thing. It says that they will get throw the slackers off the dole and let them work or starve. You have to admire their chutzpah though in being able to make a 'they're taking our jobs' pitch to a group who wouldn't work in convulsions.

You are not taking your analysis far enough.. if these policies were reversed, UK businesses would become uncompetitive or move abroad, less jobs in the UK and lower standard of living for everyone. So whats the difference?

These immigrant children get educated so they can preform higher skilled jobs, but someone still need to work as cleaners, fast food servers etc. and there aren't enough people in Britain willing to work for long hours and little pay when they are more qualified than that, as it doesn't make sense for people who are trained scientists, accountants, people who have spent 12 or more years in education, to do what essentially anyone with no education can do etc. This is called the specialisation of labour where people do what they are best at.
The reason that some of these immigrant children grow up to be welfare sponges, is that they grow up in rough areas, and are influenced by those around them who have an easy life living of the state

Totally agree with most of your comments except your statement that many who are on benefits are 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen immigrants. You cannot possibly prove that fact.
Yes, wages are massaged by the government I believe to keep people under control, because if everyone was earning a huge amount of money and there were no poor they cannot control people who have a strong voice (money) so if there are many on low income or being supported then they can control the masses that way. People would be frightened of revolt for instance because they would be afraid their benefits would be stopped............of course we know this will never happen and you know it won't change!
The government are lining their own pockets whilst pushing everyone else into the gutter.
I do not blame the immigrants for wanting a better life than the one they have left behind in their own country.........but I do blame the government for pandering to their every whim, one day the UK will have a big problem and it is not far off.........

In some cases it's true. Look at the NHS. Without immigrants and descendants of immigrants, who will do your teeth, operate on your hernia, hips, etc. But we don't need the Poles to build our stadia.

immigrant provide a lot of hard work and ofter suffer a lot of discrimination and all kind s of problems.... for just being an outsider...

they are just here for a better standard of life.... be kind and a little more sensitive to others...
