It's amazing to me that this is such a big issue today. This nation was founded by immigrants and was made great by immigrants. If anyone should be pissed it's Native Americans who were shafted from the moment the Spaniards landed in the New World. Immigration is an issue clouded by racism and outright bigotry pure and simple. |

Its cheaper for companies to employ over seas. The government needs to do something. What I suggest is some sort of tax/penalty on US based companies that outsource their workers to other countries for cheap labor. If it costs these companies just as much or more for outsourced labor then they would hopefully start hiring with in the country again.
side note how frustrating is it to call a costumer service line and get someone with a heavy accent you can barley understand...WTF????? |

I agree with you!! It is not them (not always), companies have the choice to keep jobs here but they would rather have cheap labor.. Then have us keep our jobs.
A little heads up to you Ryan! There are plenty of us with college educations who are still loosing jobs because other's are going overseas! But I am sure you are just a know it all college student that has not hit the real world yet!! |

IMMIGRANTS -v- ILLEGAL ALIENS
IMMIGRANTS filed , waited and paid their dues to get here, they pay taxes and most became citizens and vote
ALIENS cross the boarder secretly, most do work but most don't pay taxes , none vote.
It's like sneaking into the theatre watching the movies for free, and then demanding a refund.
NEITHER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH JOBS GOING OVER SEAS. High insurance rates ,labor costs , law suits and taxes do. |

I don't blame immigrants for our jobs going overseas. I blame in no small part Unions and oppressive Federal taxes. I blame illegal immigrants for costing us billions of dollars in medical, legal (prisons and law enforcement) untold lives, and education spending. I also place a fair part of the blame for the re-emergence of diseases that we had all but eradicated in this country such as such as tuberculosis. |

THeres nothing anyone can really do about that. Any company that can save more than half their costs by gonig over seas they will.. its reality.. The world has to globalize .. The times of sittin on top with a big gun and callin shots around the world are well done.. China is on the come up.. their economy and lifestyle are on the rise.. next super power? |

When a plumber, carpenter or other tradesman is waiting to get what he is really worth in order to take a job, his competition should really be other tradesmen in his same situation. Today, with many immigrants all sharing living quarters,(10 men sharing an apartment), the cost of living for these guys is minimal. They can therefore accept the same job the other tradesmen were competing for at a cheaper price. This is great if you want a job done. Unfortunately, others are waiting for that job in order to pay their bills and put food on the table. Living in the border, I see that plumbers, roofers and carpenters who I used to know have all moved North to look for work because of the daily border crosser competition. They just can't make enough to compete with cheap labor. Immigrants are the ones that keep certain services dirt cheap and the tradesmen unable to survive. That why some people complain.
It's not that people who are here legally are being lazy and refuse to work as janitors, it's that they need to make enough money to pay bills, just like other professional people. They had simply been holding out for the right price and then along came MR IMMIGANT and accepted the job for peanuts on the dollar.
I AM NO RACIST. I am a 4th generation U.S. Citizen with Mexican roots, raised in the American way. |

That's who 'The Man' wants us to blame. It's simply a process of creating order by chaos. We lose more and more sovereignty with each breath we take. It's only a matter of time before their ('The Men') quest for a global police state becomes reality. |

The reason these jobs go overseas is because they will work so much cheaper. In mexico, some of the workers get $3.00 an hour for a job that if in the US would cost the company $20.00 an hour. The jobs the illegals are doing in the US are mostly on farms and they work way below minimum wage for back breaking work, get no benefits, and when the job is over, they cant collect unemployment. If americans were doing these jobs the price of food would skyrocket. There is more to it than just outsourcing jobs. The US exports its products overseas. The economy is a global issue. What affects the US, affects the world. If we experience a recession, it affects all the industrialized nations. |

Well, see it this way: your home being invaded. Someone breaking into your home and suddenly they can live there for FREE. That is what they're doing crossing our borders illegally. The cause wages to decrease and then send most of their earnings back home to Mexico. The companies love cheap labor! That means more money in THEIR pockets. Makes me sick. Not to mention, Mexico has a huge crime rate! Ever heard of the kidnappings? 1 child is kidnapped every 3 seconds! They bring the crime here, if you have not noticed. Take the New Jersey schoolyard killings for example. They are illegal too! so WTF
AND... quality of life is decreasing in the US... its getting worse for Americans who do not get paid enough as it is! Is that fair? They take all government benefits and WE have to leanr to speak spanish? Why not chinese? or german? or Hindu? The jobs most people have pay well below what the wages should be, due to the illegals. It's geting more expensive to live in the US, especially in certain states, where the tourists flock to, like NY. Oh, don't get me started on the garbage they leave behind. |

Owners of companies are the ones taking their companies over seas to operate their companies at half the price.illegals are not only taking away jobs in U.S but also causes crime and eventually having the tax payers support them through government programs |

I'm lost myself about the securing our borders because honestly, those are the jobs that the americans don't even want nor do they think the job gets paid enough and mainly probably due to a high volumn of cheap labors crossing the borders. I'm talking about hard labor work, not office jobs.
As for office jobs, many large corporations are going abroad to setup operations because it's so dirt cheap compare to having their operations here. In fact, many countries provide incentive to get these companies in there. One software programmer will cost a company here about 100-150K usd but with this amount of money, you can get 4-5 programmers in China and maybe even more in India. That's a great incentive already for companies to setup operations abroad.
No matter what, large corporations likes to incorporate their businesses in the US since this country is have plenty of laws protecting them, not to mention free market. In my opinion, I don't see how US should give tax breaks to these companies that has operations setup abroad. Instead, US should impose heavier taxes or even not give the companies tax credit for foreign taxes paid. It is highly unlikely for a company like Intel to even consider incorporating in those countries because of the lack of laws and protections. Maybe it might be different 50-100 years from now.
Just my two cent. |

Most new post NAFTA "jobs" are low wage service jobs.
Good paying jobs are being outsourced. What's left is low paying service jobs that are given to illegals at slave wages. Our kids have no entry level jobs left and many trades have been flooded by illegals driving wages down to where a living wage is impossible.
Social services meant for US citizens are being bankrupted by illegals.
Greed on the part of government, special interest and big business are the culprits. Selective enforcement(or none at all) of federal immigration law by our government is also to blame.
Good jobs going away are caused by the highest corporate taxes in the free world coupled with NAFTA style exploitation of workers by the corporate elite.
I don't blame illegals, I blame our government. |

I agree with you, but it's always easier to blame the weakest link. They are only 4% of the population yet they are made guilty of everything that is going wrong in here. There's crime?sure it's the illegals, no jobs? blame an illegal, bad schools? it's the illegals fault, no healthcare? illegals fault too. They are even blaming them for the down in the housing market!!! Go figure...

immigrants work for less money and companies a less likely to hire people who want higher wages. if we stop from going over seas, it would ruin trading with other countries. politics are messed up. |

The problem with immigrants is not about taking jobs.. It's about the amount of money they cost the U.S. and the problems they present.
I don't think what you are suggesting has anything to do with why most people believe the borders need to be secured. |

Number of skilled jobs taken by ILLEGAL aliens: 10,353,442 |

Our jobs are not going overseas. There are plenty of jobs for those who are educated. I do not feel sorry for those who never realized the world economy changed and stayed behind.
People just blame immigrants for their problems because they refuse to accept responsibility for their actions. |

That's a dumb question. Its not the immigrants fault either. If I lived in Mexico I would come to the states too. We pay taxes while the immigrants don't. They use the same things that our taxes go to. Illegal immigrants cannot be rejected by hospitals or schools. This is stupid. The only positive is that they bring cheaper labor. Americans are too spoiled and want more for nothing. (not all but most). We don't pay for people who live in other countries. And besides if you don't like idea, don't purchase items from that store. And besides you have to tell me that if you could make and extra 100,000,000 a year you wouldn't. If you say other wise you are a lier |

IT'S FUNNY HOW YOU GUYS SAY ILLEGAL ALIENS BECAUSE IN REALITY THE TRUE NATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES WERE NATIVE AMERICANS. SERIOUSLY, THINK ABOUT IT HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE DESCENDANTS THAT ONCE MIGRATED.. THE ANSWER IS PROBABLY THAT MOST OF YOU. IMMIGRANTS COME HERE AND TAKE THE JOBS AMERICANS DON'T WANT. |

Illegal aliens are not so much my concern personally. They are typically taking the lower-paying jobs. My concern is about all the H1B folks who are taking the better paying jobs from perfectly qualified Americans. Theoretically, there is supposed to be a control on this practice, that employers are supposed to hire foreign workers in specialized fields because there is a shortage of Americans to fill those roles. However, this has not been the case. In our current environment, you can go to any office of any large American corporation in IT and find that Americans are actually the minority in the office place. I know that is the case where I work. |
