Why do you think immigration is not a top priority for the majority of U.S. Voters?

Could it be that immigration isn't a threat to US jobs, the economy and our safety like some say on here? Are the 5% that think immigration is more important the yahoo users that constantly bash illegal immigrants in this section?

Voters Don't Rank Immigration As A Priority Issue

Despite reports that President Obama plans to begin a push for immigration reform, voters rank it fifth out of five priorities he has proposed this year in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Forty-one percent (41%) now see deficit reduction as the top priority while 26% see health care reform as most important. Eleven percent (11%) say the search for new energy sources should be the most important objective, followed by nine percent (9%) who say the president's educational goals are their top concern.

Five percent (5%) of voters name immigration as most important.

Most people have the true facts regarding illegal immigration.
They know the TRUTH about how much is paid into the IRS and Social Security fund that will never be recovered by illegals. They know the truth about public safety and the true statistics about the amount of non insured US citizens, welfare, public safety, incarceration, crime rate, Identity theft and tax fraud (Maddof ring a bell?).

Get rid of the illegals and the economy and education will improve. So will the health care industry that is being bankrupted by the non paying illegals. BTW where was this poll taken. I would bet it was not in the southwest or California.

It's funny how someone took offense to my comment about how some foreigner nationals would burn our flag in protest, and violated my answer. I'm guessing they took offense to my wording, but why wouldn't they take offense to someone disrespecting the flag of the United States of America?

Most people only have the basic facts regarding illegal immigration.
They do not know the TRUE cost in health care, welfare, education, public safety, incarceration, crime rate, ID theft, tax fraud, etc.
Most facts regarding contributions by immigrants is a combination of legal and illegal and is very misleading. It camouflages the true cost and makes it seems as if their contribution and the cost to taxpayers balance each other out. When in fact they do not.
So therefore immigration isn't a top priority. The economy is.
If the true cost to US taxpayers and the contribution of illegal aliens was really know immigration would be number 1.

It is estimated illegals pay about $7B a year into soc sec. It cost US taxpayers $3B a year for labor/delivery. About $3B a year in other health care costs: $28B a year in education.
That $7B doesn't begin to offset the cost of illegal aliens.
