Why do you think the majority of Americans are against illegal immigration?

Only because of awareness. For years only the Americans in high densely populated hispanic areas knew what all of America is just finding out.

Up until the marches, most Americans were open minded and supported the amnesty to some degree. After the insults with flags and negative attitudes, it really changed everything.

All I want to see now are results, No more debating, and no more discussions. I want to see thousands being taking out on a daily basis. I want to see our state and national politicians being held accountable as well as the employers of illegals.

No more threats of fines; a minimum of one year in federal prison if caught.

The main reason that I have come to see is that they are taking most of our jobs, and along with illegal immigration being..illegal...it just really makes it a more populated country.

1) Most Americans are uncomfortable with the thought of their national borders being so uncontrolled and unsecure, as any other country would feel.
2) Illegal migrants (notice I don't use the word 'immigrant') drive down wages, sorry folks it's just a fact. There's no such thing as a job Americans won't do, only wages or work conditions Americans won't accept.
3) Many of these illegal migrants have no loyalty to this country or it's traditions; as evidenced by waving of Mexican flags during protests, etc.
**An 'Immigrant' wants to assimilate and show patriotism towards their new home. Many of these migrants arrogantly do the opposite... which leads to...
4) Many Americans see the Hispanic influence as threatening to their culture. There's nothing wrong with this. Every culture has the right to want to preserve it's self.
5) The fact of the illegal status of the migrants leads to a cascade of illegality. Driving without licenses, insurance, etc. All the criminality that goes along with the human smuggling, and the exploitation of the migrants themselves.
6) The massive strain on the public service infrastructure. Clinics are shutting down, schools are overburdened educating children of parents who aren't contributing to the tax base, more people using welfare services, and so on.

Does that help to explain why most Americans are not happy with several million undocumented slave laborers sneaking into our country??

The word "illegal" is a big clue.

I think most Americans want their laws to be respected and believe that folks who break their laws by illegally entering the U.S. are undeserving to stay here.

Why should a special group of people be allowed to break the law? Why should other nationalities be required to obey the law and not hispanics? Why should hispanics make up the bulk of immigration when we need professionals from other countries to augment our college grads? The answer is self-evident to the majority of Americans.

They enter the country illegally. What makes anyone think they are going to respect any other of our laws. When they get here, a lot end up getting welfare, which comes from taxpayers pocket. If an american citizen breaks the law, they get sent to jail. If they are caught breaking the law, they`re sent home(sometimes not even that), just to sneak back into the country again.

I'm against it solely because its my tax dollars that pay for their medical and educational expenses. If they were here legally, their own tax dollars would help offset the costs. The costs are also passed on to me as part of the annual increases in insurance premiums. Quite frankly, I'm damned tired of paying for someone else's care who isn't here legally in the first place.

Illegal immigrants are a drain on Government resources that taxpayers foot the bill for (Medicare, Welfare, WIC, et al.).

I have not the slightest interest in one's country of origin or one's skin tone. I do not wish to pay for someone else's healthcare when I can barely afford to pay for my own.

Half the country would say because it's illegal. I'm one of them. It's because if we toleraet illegal activites, then we start accepting other illega activies. We accept how employers abuse illegal immigrants. We accept identity theft. Even the immigration bill stated that they accept certain felonies. A Mexican AMerican stated that they are running away from a corrupt Mexican government, but they come here and skirt around our laws. He's saying that their behavior is what allows Mexico to become corrupt. That if they don't accept the law, that means the government no longer has to either. I don't want a society where individuals can choose which laws to follow. We have enough problems with Bush feeling this way.

Pro reform here....Many Americans are against it for a variety of reasons.And all are valid concerns.Believe it or not I share them.As most who are Pro reform do.I'll list a few of my concerns and see if we have a common ground here ok?

We can't have just anyone wandering into our country for health,security,and populace concerns.
Americans should have top priority for jobs.
No government benefits should be used for anyone but American citizens.
We must implement a common language so all can succeed at an equal level.
These are but a few of my concerns do they match yours?

Ok, for one, you are so misguided. And if any hispanic wanted to be respected in this country, and they were illegals, they would turn themselves in, go back to mexico or whichever nation they hail from, and apply for a visa. I am of Irish, Scottish, French, and German decent, and am a proud citizen of this nation, because my ancestors labored in their respective countries, purchased transportation to America, departed their homes with proper documentation, checked in at an immigration center, waited in line for up to days to check into this country, and entered LEGALLY, as opposed to the current "immigrants" who run like they are being pursued by rabid dogs, when all they had to do, was check into this country providing proper documentation, like immigrants of past eons did before them. Is obeying international laws to much to ask? Oh, and if it weren't for those Hispanics who enter this country illegally while also trafficking illegal drugs, maybe the Hispanic community wouldn't be seen as a cancer to our society. Oh, and us legal citizens have to pay taxes to America, if you want to be here, you have to contribute, you aren't "special" just because you speak Spanish. If you want to come here, LEARN ENGLISH, call me a bigot, but it's what my German, and French ancestors had to do, it's what everybody else in the world who comes to this country legally has to do, you all are of no exception. Oh, and the "low quality" education excuse doesn't cut it. If a Korean can learn and speak English fluently, you can too. Go to an American consulate/embassy in your home country, they can help you. And another reason AMERICANS are against ILLEGAL "immigration" is because you all become squadders in homes built for law abiding legal citizens. How would you like it, if I crossed the border into your country, didn't care to learn your language, began telling my friends to sneak into your country, take your jobs, live in houses built for you, didn't contribute to your country, sending money I made in your country to people who didn't live in your country, and cheated my way around your national pension systems, encouraged others to do the same, and began smuggling illegal goods into your country sparking a crime wave in your country? Send the illegals back to their own country's! Send transportation charges to their own government. If that government chooses not to pay, reduce that from the aid they receive from this country! Send them back first class, who cares, the bill goes with them. Perhaps that government will help stop them.....

I believe most Americans are against law breakers! plain and simple! America has always embraced people from other countries however! It was most always done through legal channels. The immigrants came here on old steam ships, passed the "Statute of Liberty" checked them selves into "Ellis Island" for a period of time. The Gov. actually tested them for illnesses. back ground checks and they appllied for "Citizenship" learned English and merged into the American culture. They earned their own way and were a respected part of our community. back them there was no free anything!

Now the illegals sneak into this country by the thousands daily! demand we give them free health care, education and demand that the teachers teach their kids in spanish!!! everything has to be printed in spanich at the tax payers expense! the drain on this country is beyond what we can deliver! they're bankrupting us all and to be frank the average American Citizen is fed up of not being able to send our children to college but, have to send the illegals children for free.

most don't even know why. most are ignorant. most don't know what the real problems facing the US. As for me, I'm realistic, we won't be deporting 12 million illegals, and sure as hell they aren't going to self-deport themselves (because no laws will be enforced in all cities and all states).
