Why does Obama support Turkey coming into the EU ?

He has to say it publicly to keep US military bases in Turkey. He knows it's not going to happen, but has to show some support to Turkey if he wants them to keep US bases there.

Because he wants help from a Muslim country with Iraq/Afghanistan/Iran and anyway he will not have to suffer the consequences of Turkey entering the EU.

Turkey is an ally of the US. It doesn't cost the US anything to support it, as they really have nothing to do with the EU. Obama can support this, tell Denmark they should take in more Iraqi refugess after the mess the US made in the country and lots more. Sticking their noses in where they don't belong is an American past-time.

Also, it would probably be better for the UK to leave the union. The sooner the better. It started out as a good idea, free trade between countries, whereas now it has turned into some kind of monster we really have no control over. Europe's nations are losing their sovereignty.

Turkey may be an ally of the US ? but it has nothing to do with entering
the EU..totally different subject and countries.France and other members of the EU do not want Turkey to be within,and for good reasons! Humans Rights is one big part of the denial, failing to comply to be able to join, even if on the global picture it appears to be so..
I am also totally against Turkey entering Europe !

He wants to be everyone's buddy and since he is going to Turkey (and they want membership) that is the side he is taking. And since he is gracing Turkey with his magnificent presence and they'll fall all over themselves to marvel at him there too.

Turkey has done pretty much all it needed to to gain the EU membership. They will however get stiffed and align with Russia and most of the Middle East.

Turkey is caught in a viscious circle of bad Human Rights and economic toil. If they could join the EU there could be some standards set. But on the other hand what does Obama know about European affairs?

Britain will be swamped to the rafters with Muslims if we are still in the EU when Turkey get in, and i personally believe that THAT is the whole idea in getting Obama to approve, so that Gordon Brown will have he's dream, in wanting to make Britain the Islamic banking centre of Europe......The people are forced to submit to the domination of Islam, so that the rich can get hold of Islamic money.....Sound about right to you?....British national party mate....its the only true hope this country has. We are being torn apart for money, and by our own parliament.....((No surprise there then.))

The UK hasn't left the EU, if turkey was admitted into the EU then it would have to meet the standards set out and if they did i wouldn't see this as a reason to want out, i would welcome my Turkish brothers with open arms, they also have a pretty big army
