Why don't illegal aliens have to pay out their medical bills just as American citizens have to?

The law required life threatening treatment be delivered to save lives at all costs.
That's as it should be for me.
Having a baby in the US, as an illegal immigrant or alien is one of those iffy thangs. Having a baby is dangerous biz. Apparently.
So they get the free treat. Your bills (I don't mean to demean here) may have not been considered life threatening and of course you were "tagable" as an American. They will help you. Ify can't pay, you don't get any credit but life goes on.
Illegals simply walk away from it all. 100,000 babies born at the expense of Calif. taxpayers in 06 to illegal mothers.
We need to stop people who are preganant from coming to this country unless they do so legally.
If they manage to get in ...their kids are not US citizens and they get deported directly. This is hard to manage but if we were a little less friendly to "family"j sorts up here and encouraged more workers, we would be much better off. This country can handle folks working for cheap as laborers but not running their own companies, having families and making babies and insisting we educate their kids in ...Spainish.

Because they have no money, supposedly, and the hospitals are required to treat them even if they have no money. I know, I did the same thing with my children. No insurance, and was required to have the doctor paid in full by the 8th month of pregnancy, and the hospital paid before being dismissed. Absolutely pitiful that we have to do this and the illegals get away with nothing.

a) Because they are seen as under priviledged, and b) because they can't be forced into paying... trying sending collections after them, how can you track them with no SSN?

On a side note, my parents lived in the state that I went to school in, paid property taxes and all that, had their cars registered in that state, but because my dad's income came from a different state, I was considered an out-of-state dependent and had to pay the out-of-state tuition, but some genius has proposed to offer illegals in-state tuition! I'm sorry but as bad as I feel for people in bad situations, that's just not right.

I would like the answer to that question myself,as far as I can tell its because we are supposed to feel sorry for the less fortunate so Americans can be politically correct. Oh! Haven't you heard? Our government is kissing their butts for their vote. They will buy those votes any way they can. One way is to provide better for them than they do the LEGAL, law abiding, taxpaying AMERICAN citizen. Find out who in YOUR state is pandering to those criminals, write, call or e-mail them and let them KNOW you are against it and that you will do everything you can to make sure they DO NOT remain in office.

They can get medical care through any ER in any hospital through the EMTALA law. That is why California has had 100's of hospitals close their doors. They had to cover the costs of all those illegal immigrants coming in for anything from having a baby to an ingrown toenail. DESPICABLE!!

Everyone is required to pay their bills. However, if you don't have a social security number -- the US equivalent of an identity number -- there is no way to track your movement.

They have no documentation, and therefore no proof of address, but the hospitals cannot turn them away. The hospitals will not report these people in order to avoid bad press, and even so most local police do not have the legal authority to take illegals into custody. I'd like to know how can they be paying out of the pocket ? An Er vist alone is about $ 300.00 not including any supplies or tests or X-rays- CT Scans- EKG'S - Blood work alone is another $ 300. The Er doctor fee is not included in the vist that is a seperate bill about $ 150 more. If illegal aliens are walking around with thousands of dollars in cash to pay all hospital bills how can that be possible from picking fruit or hardly making it.

I have to say I know some illegals that have to pay out of their pockets when they go to the hospital. So not all get good treatment either.

First of all there is no such thing as an American citizen, you see, there is no such a thing as â€˜Americanâ€™ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

Also, although some people would like to believe that America is not one but two continents North America and South America. If you think about it though the term U.S. of A. is a glaring example that this line of thought is incorrect, if America was two continents instead of one, shouldnâ€™t it be U.S. of N.A. (North America)? We say Columbus discovered..... ? AMERICA, not South America or North America.

That said, where do you get that illegals don't pay for medical care? do they have a card that say's "Illegal Free Medical"?
