The people who are most vocal against illegal immigration have absolutely no practical suggestions to make. All they say is send them home. Most Americans are not willing to foot the bill for that and some businesses would suffer. We need a practical approach to addressing the problem and Congress is trying to work one out. The millions of people in this country illegally have to be accounted for and we have to find an intelligent way to do it. |

We have. That's why this bill did not pass. |

That's why we are having protest this weekend in D.C. We are honey, don't worry! Real Americans aren't going for this amnesty bill. We will never settle for nothing less than Arrest and Deport, now! The Congressmen are starting to get the picture from all the angry phone calls and e-mails they get. |

EXCUUUUUUSE ME! What have people been screaming about to Congress about for months? Why do you think the amnesty bill stalled in the Senate?
Aren't you listening or are you listening to the biased polls that claim Americans want amnesty? |

I am. I bother my congressman and senators everyday and will continue to do so until they get it figured out. If they want to vote in any type of illegal immigration bill that includes anyhing but border security first then it's their political funeral come next November. |

Because the people you are talking about are the quiet hard working, respectful people in our communities and states that contribute to the economy and do not demand benefits in return. In fact they do not march in the streets demanding anything, they take care of their own families and pay their taxes without ever being heard, but oh are they being heard now! They are from every different walk of life all the way from the unskilled laborer to the highly skilled, high wage employees.
Sometimes marching in the street demanding things that you are not entitled to actually hurts your cause for example, the last two amnesty marches. |

Because most of the people "for illegal immigration" that you see on TV are not citizens. They have no rights in this country.
American citizens can and must put pressure on politicians and law makers in other ways. VOTING power, phone calls, letters, and any other means to let our voice be heard. Most of us work and have families, and don't have all the time in the world to stand on the streets and protest.
Are YOU part of the solution or part of the problem?? What do you do to make a difference in this country???
Most people I assume are like me, they only come on this website to vent. No one comes on here expecting their post to make any difference. The pro-illegals are set in their ways, nothing will change their mind. |

Good point. I have done lots of blogging and talking to friends and family but I feel that (especially since I live outside DC) I should do more.
My choices are: calling congressmen, picketing outside of capital, donating $ to groups that support this.
Would any of this help? What else is there?
I was thinking to call companies and ask if they are participating in the verification pilot program...

I am against illegal immigration and believe that they should all go home and wait in line like the rest of the immigrants, However if I had to chose between spending a nice day with my family or marching a parade against illegal immigration the I would chose my family, I have family that came over here illegally and I would send there sorry lazy asses back if I could, I think the simple fact that they can walk down our streets and not get arrested says something about our local governments. And if they are let go then we should go find them again it is unacceptable what is going on. |

Many people have taken a stand against amnesty for illegal immigrants. The tough part is getting our elected Representatives to understand that U S citizens DO NOT WANT illegal aliens given across-the-board amnesty. I support amnesty in the sense that illegals declare their status, attend training on how to legally be in the United States, return to their own country and apply for legal entry. Those who do not comply should be treated as the criminal they are and arrested. The employers who support the illegals should also be arrested. By arresting and collecting large fines from the employers who hire illegals we could build a large budget to locate and apprehend the illegals. EVERY ONE NEEDS TO CONTACT THEIR REPRESENTATIVE AND MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND THAT ALLOWING ILLEGALS TO REMAIN IN OUR COUNTRY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! |

Well i must say as an Immigrant to this country ,when i came here many years ago ,legal! i had to know the american history and do doctor checkups , speak the language etc. Do the citizen test and all that goes with it . I am now for many years a citizen of this country and it perturbes me to see how the system is dealing with this kind of stuff. It actually saddens me a lot ,to see that i work hard , pay my taxes and social securities and all that and they supposed to get a free hand on this . Sorry but when you voice your opinions here , people label you as a racist and other countries will give you the boot if you are illegal and send you back where you came from , Why can't this country do the same ? Or really check the background of these people so we do onot have another 911? |

your right, we are taking it to the streets this month. we do not want illegals here. is it fair to your parents who had to pay to come here legally. while illegals are demanding rights, burning our flag and wanting amnesty? i say no, it's not right to your parents and other legal immigrants. and you should be proud of your heritage, we're not asking for any immigrant to give that up. all we asking is come legal and pay taxes like we do. illegals are keeping wages down, kids are feeling it in school. and tell your parents thanks for coming legal, they are Americans. god bless.
i read some of the post, it's sad how people talk crap. i have nieces and nephews who are half mexican Americans. and they feel illegals should come legally. illegals think they should be on their side because of their mexican heritage, they say no, i'm American and i'm for America. don't listen to the ones who put you down. |

The media portrays that the illegals are more untied. Where I live in Central California the anti protesters outnumber the pro, but the media only shows the anti on the evening news. |

They are standing up. The volume of calls to the Senate on the latest amnesty Bill before their House has been deafening. The question? Is our Senate able to hear it? |

most white people in this country are afraid to be labeled as racist so they basically email and phone their elected officials to tell them to vote the bill down. |

Illegals, always brand anybody that does not agree with them as racists and bigots and feel that they are doing nothing wrong, even though they are the ones DEPRESSING wages and Benefits for those who are Legal American Citizens. They don't realize politicians are using them to do it and will in fact keep them as low wage earners and continue to take advantage of them.
Americans Don't think their own Representatives are Listening to them or are doing what they are asking! Proof is the Scamnesty Bill that continues to come up without Enforcement and erodes the Sovereignty of The United States! |

Most people are against illegal immigration. The far left and communist like Ted Kennedy want all these illegals to be allowed entry. Who do you think stopped the first plan, the people against illegal immigration. Bill informed the people and they all called there polls. Peace |

most people won't stand up and say something about it because they are afraid that they are going to be called racist. well if it is racist to say that i don't want them here unless they go through the system the legal way, then i guess i am a racist. |

In case you haven't yet done your research:
There is no 'front door' so to speak to come in through! There is no 'visa' for the large majority of them! Why don't you try to find out about it by pretending to be a poor guy from there trying to 'make a better life' here in the U.S. and see what type of response you get! |

Because they rather complain and do nothing about it...
Im totally in support of the illegal immigrant being legal not citizens but at least so they can work and the main thing everybody complains about PAY TAXES... they show how muchm they wanna be here by showing a HUGE march and everything but people that dont want them should the same if they so believe in wat they say |

well, i'm right with ya sista, got any suggestions? i tired to report illegals in my town for working and i couldn't find anywhere on line to report or call. so what can we do? |

We all have full time jobs! I hardly have time to spend all day walking around downtown Los Angeles. Do you live under a rock? All those illegals who march around waving Mexican flags have nothing better to do with their time. |

Sorry, I'm too busy working like most of those illegals that you are talking about. If the welfare class would get off their lazy assses then maybe we wouldn't need illegals to do the work. |

I'm glad about the rallies June 14 -16th. I am going to DC on Saturday.
Mexicans can scream race all they want, I really don't give a damn. It is about reeping off the economy, and later on increasing our healthcare costs and taxes if they were to be allowed to become citizens and work here legally because companies will pay them legal, but crappy wages. What will happen in return? This will would then allow them to collect all the government assistance/benefits offered and earned income credits.
Does anyone think the thumbs down or reported abuse violations phase any of us people who oppose this reform? They can keep doing it and we'lll always keep posting what we believe in.
I make phone calls everyday and send emails from work to my state. |

G.W. Bush, who's brothers wife is a Mexican, probably illegal at that, feels that he is the president of Mexico and not the U.S., When I write to Bush I refer to him as Jose Bush, He is selling out our country and the stupid American people don't have the brains to see it. All we can do is hope for Bush to be removed from office, or the next election. Why don't O'Reilly promote a get rid of illegals parade. |

Classic class struggle within the Mexican community.
Why don't you take perspective on history and see how on the minimum, the economic ambitions of the US is actually affecting Mexicans? What do you want the poor to do - unless it's elite, wealthy Mexicans that are here illegally...
The reason most of us don't march against it is because we aren't threatened by them. Do you work in a meat processing plant or do you pick strawberries? Hmmm. No? Well, if not, let those who will do so. |
