Why hate immigrants?

I think it's a misconception - it's the employers who take advantage of them that we should be angry with, they take them on for peanuts (sometimes illegally and below minimum wage) which does take jobs away from those who are going through the unemployment system legally.

I have no problem with legal immigrants; only illegal immigrants. The problem is that illegal immigrants come here and by doing so, are breaking the law. They are working and not paying taxes, are getting free services for themselves but those same free services are costs the taxpayers millions and millions of dollars. I am not happy about paying for them to live here, pay no taxes and take their wages back home to help support their families while we take from our paychecks and pay for them while making it harder to support our own families. They get free health care while I pay a fortune to try to keep mine. This is not ranting, this is reality. Now NYC is allowing them to get drivers licenses, which is a risk to our safety, whether you believe that or not. Open borders, living here without documentation, free health care, drivers licenses and then some genius comes up with the idea that they should be permitted to get social security after they are here for only 18 months!! They have children who need education and guess what, our schools are suffering and our school taxes are suffering. We need more schools for more people, more services to teach English because most do not speak English very well. These people may be the nicest people in the world but we cannot afford to keep allowing illegal immigration. If they wish to be here, then they need to do it the proper way and follow the law, just like the legal immigrants do!!

I dont agree with Immigrants being allowed in our country, if they are not qualified to work. Look at how hard it is to get into the likes of America, Australia or Canada, if you are trying to do it legally. You have to be of benefit to them, so why should that not be the case here???? Illegal immigrants are bleeding everyone dry!!!

Instead we have people coming over living on the streets, and begging us for money, they left their own country to live a life of poverty here. I am not a mean person but i dont think it is fair that our country is full of immigrants, who dont work!!!! Yet they still can get benefits over here. My tax pays for them to live here. It is disgraceful.

In my company i have a wonderful girl who is polish and fantastic at her job. I think that yes bringing over qualified people to work is different than them coming over to beg!!!!

Bring in the workers but why should we have a load of foreign beggars on the streets, we have enough poor homeless people in Britain!!!!!

I don't mind if they want to come here to work. It's the ones who come from countries that tell them 'come to England for a free ride'. There was a recent article where a country published a paper telling people that England was some kind of 'mecca' for free money,health care and a house. Our country is a reletively rich one cos we and many generations before us paid into the system to make it like this.

Anyone who claims that people emigrating to this country are taking jobs are too lazy to actually look for one properly.

Britain has been emigrating to other countries for years. Look at the British Empire - if it wasn't for us emigrating there wouldn't be the Commonwealth Games. The difference is we went to other countries expecting them to give up their national identity to become more like us.

I hate hearing that immigrants are claiming all 'our' benefits, you can't claim benefits if you emigrate to another country, you have to show that you can support yourself before you are allowed to. Asylum seekers can claim benefits as they are usually fleeing persecution in their country. Do you really think that someone really wants to up and leave their home country to move to a bleak, rainy island and get racist abuse about it everyday. They do it because otherwise they would end up dead.

Immigration is a very important part of any country and will help a country to grow with new ideas. The problem is illegal immigration and asylum seekers. I have no problem with people wishing to live and work in this country but why can't they fill in the correct forms instead of crossing the boarder or overstaying. Any work done by these people isn't taxed which means all medical treatment is paid for by me and my taxes.

Asylum seeker have to travel through several countries to reach here, what is so wrong with Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Malta, etc that they couldn't stay there? It seems we pay more in benefits. If you were running from a country that your life was in danger wouldn't you be happy to stay in the first safe country you reached?

To answer your first questions:

I have had a job that was offered to me removed because budget restraints. I managed to get a different contract only to find the job had been offered to a "ethnic minority" two days after telling me the job was no longer in the budget (I even had to work along side him and he had no knowledge in the job he was doing). How can it not be racist to offer jobs to people of ethnic minorty? There is no such thing as positive discrimination only discrimination.

Crime rates have increase with the movement of illegal immigrants into communities according to the police. They refused to intergrate in to the local comunity and set up getos, most refuse to learn English. The cost of having to translate forms into hundreds of languages is a large perscent of the local council, police, NHS, etc budget which effects us all.

A lot of the problem lies with the PC bridgade and there stupid ideas. Like banning Piglet (from winnie the pooh) toys from offices incase it upsets musliums.

If you do look at the immigration figures then a lot of people do feel it is a problem and are emigrating. The problem is that it's highly educated people that are leaving and uneducated people that are taking there place.

If the boot was on the other foot, I would be happy to live in France. Although the largest amount of illegal immigrants are from Australia, not really a third rate country.

Being "anti-immigration" is just a new way for racists to express their hatred and ignorance. They will try to dress it up and disguise it and attempt to legitimise it - but at heart there is nothing but xenophobia.

Because these people have never known deprivation and fear themselves they are incapable of empathising with humans who haven't had it so easy just by dint of where were born.

I am genuinely sickened and depressed by the attitude of some of my fellow countrymen and women when it comes to this issue. Let's hope they never have to know how it feels to be impoverished, homeless, lost - and desperate to just keep things together for the sake of their families.

It seems to be a belief that they are getting something that the person that hates them is not, so i suppose it is jealousy.
Most of these people will also not see a problem with someone from this country emigrating to another country which is very hypocritical.

I like the diversity that has been brought to this country.

I agree witht he first guy. THe thing is that they typically come from a third world country and refuse to stand up against a abusive boss. That is one of the real reason why employers go out of the way to hire them. They use immigrant work force to leverage a lower work condition as well as pay.

One of the most racist people are those who hire immigrants. They like the idea of bossing people of a different race.

I'm not so concern of the pay, but it's all the worker's right that we fought hard for that I see going down the drain.
They complain about how they are treated.
I tried helping them, but they expect me to speak for them with out sticking out their own necks.

I think you are right, there is no justified reason for hating immigrants. It surely is difficult for them. People who say that things like higher unemployment is their fault just use the immigrants as a sort of scapegoat for their problems. In my opinion, this is the wrong end on the way to find a solution for problems like that.
It is quite hard to imagine being in a position like that, I mean immigrating into a wealthier land or something (for me at least..) but I can see that the people hope for a better life and the opportunity to earn money for their families.

I don't hate immigrants but it was shown in 2006 alone that 2.4 billion pounds were spent on people who had come in to Britain claiming asylum, and we all wonder why the Police force cannot cope, the NHS is going down the pan and 25% of GCSE students in the UK leave school with no qualifications! Migration to the UK has to be stemmed and soon. Gordon Brown has said he is only going to allow skilled workers into the country; the people we need. Not any old low-life coming in to get free health care and a good job (or alternatively sponge off the state) Why on earth should people who disrespect us, bring down society and commit crime be let into our country. I know this isn't true off all immigrants but 35% of all gun crime commited in Britain is commited by Black afro-carribean Immigrants, 14% of all people in Prison are Immigrants and 27% of rape commited is done by Pakisatni, Indian and Bangladeshi people. This is why I disagree with immigrants coming in to our country and not playing by the rules, and please don't tell me i am wrong because I am director of border control and entry clearance for the UK Border and Immigration Agency.

They've depressed wages.
They've caused my taxes to go up because they pay disproportionately low taxes.
The only thing they seem to excel at is committing crime. Identify theft (to be sure) but violent crime as well.

i don't hate them I'm just sick of paying tax to fund those from abroad who come to the UK - if they have a job and a home of their own then great but in the UK every system we have is over loaded - everything from hospitals to sewers. we don't have the space or the resources to cope with more and more people every year . it's not the fault of the immigrant - it's the fault of our government allowing the gates to remain open for so long. those that are already here should probably be allowed to remain( unless they are already or they become criminals) but the gates should be firmly shut until we no longer have a housing and job shortage.
