You must have noticed that in this once great country we now have a "racism industry" which employs countless otherwise useless people to propagate its propaganda and to perpetuate itself. (There is a similar industry attached to discussion on matters concerning the gay community) These people are employed by the state and/or local authorities with grandiose job titles such as "diversity/multicultural advisers/outreach workers, etc. and spend their time trying to justify their existence and exhorbitant salaries - paid, by the way, by you and me as tax payers. It is, of course, in the government's interest to encourage the creation of such posts(usually advertised only in the Guardian) because the people who fill the posts become employers of the government who will, therefore, vote for them as a way of retaining their cushy jobs. Do you know that since this government came into office in 1997, despite assurances that they would reduce the number of people working for them, they have increased its workforce (civil servants) by almost 700 000.
As you have quite correctly noticed, anyone who tries to debate, even in an unbiased, impartial way, any question to do with immigration is immediately called "a racist." It has happened to me, a long-serving teacher who had taught young people of countless nationalities and a practising member of my church. These people HAVE to do this to justify their jobs, as I said earlier. We are being brainwashed by the fear of being labelled "racist" or "homophobic." When this sort of censorship occured in Germany in the 30s it was called "Natzism." |

My question: why do you let being called a racist affect you?
It's like a Salem witch hunt.
When you call a country like China (99.9% asian) a racist country, look at their reaction. They just shrug their shoulders in a "so what" response. It's time we do the same. |

I agree. People try to use the race card to cloud the immigration issue and turn the wrong people into the bad guys here. It is not about race at all, or about country of origin... It's about legality and paperwork.
I welcome any person coming into our country legally, regardless of their race or where they come from. It's the people who think the laws don't apply to them that I have a problem with, and that has nothing to do with race. |

There is a tendency of some, who do not have a valid argument, to inappropriately bundle their invalid points with valid arguments.
This is to try to confuse, and usurp a mistaken credibility for their argument. |

When what ever race is being discuss and the race knows that they are wrong and really has no good argument against what is being said then the race card comes into play. |

When you disagree with someone the best way to make yourself feel superior is to attack the other person, ie call them a racist.
It helps you avoid actually having a constructive argument if you just dismiss theirs as racism, xenophobia etc. |

Racism is used when the pro illegal side has nothing left to say. |

Because it is the only way that a PRO ILLEGAL can justify their fight.
It makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that that can throw that word out.
The truth is, ILLEGAL INVADERS have no specific race. They are Hispanic, Russian, Thai, hatian, Cuban Etc.
It is NOT a RACE issue, It is a LEGAL issue adn the Pro ILLEGAL people can not justify their stand so they play the "race" card. |

Sparky Says;
The people who try to make you feel like a racist want to make you feel guilty. They want you to feel like you are the one breaking the law. They also forget one really big issue and that is that immigration is not the issue, but ILLEGAL, yes ILLEGAL immigration is the issue. These people that jump a fence or swim a river to sneak into our country are breaking the law, they are criminals. So let them say what they will. To question this ILLEGAL immigration makes you a patriot not a racist. |

it's just a way that people use to try and get people to feel bad... Nobody wants to be called a racist so they use that thinking it will change your mind- if there is no valid argument.. to call someone racist is the only other step to try and get their way... Why let it bother you... if you know you are not a racist.. then don't care what other people say... they are only trying to get to you... |

Being a "racist" is is such a horrible thing that people don't want to be called that. When the pro-illegals run out of legitimate arguments, they pull out the race card to shut us up.
Illegal immigration has nothing to do with race since it doesn't matter WHERE they come from. I don't care if the illegal is from England, Canada or India - ILLEGAL is the issue, not race!
BTW, "Mexican" is not a race. The pro-Mexican illegals are sure quick to call everyone a racist when we generally talk about the Mexicans, just because 95% of illegals are from Mexico. |

When all of the name calling begns,it is usually the pro's calling people nasty names and many who become angered by this respond accordingly. It's not smart to let ignorance get under your skin! |

I understand fully with what you are saying.
I think the mere mention of the word immigration is like a red light to a bull or an excuse for some people to give you verbal abuse on here.
Never seen any of your discussions on here but I'm sure you are the sole of discretion when wording either your question or answer. Some folk are all too ready to use the race card at the slightest provocation .
Healthy debate is not allowed on here anymore. |

It came from pro ill immigrants wanting to change the subject from illegal immigration, to racism ...so that they would not have to answer some apparently hard questions.
On racism: Sticks and stones can break my bones ...but words will never hurt me. If you believe that then you can forge ahead in your conversations on the subject.
I myself witness that every time one brings up the subject of ill immigration, everyon in the room heads north or south.
Very few people are undecided. The majority do not favor ill immigration but many waffle by saying, well we need to be nice about it. That same group hates hearing the fact of loss, crime, degradation of society etc.
It concerns me that Americans have become a group of "head in the sand" types when tough issues come up and need to be dealt with. |

It is not racism. That is ignorant and silly.
The term 'xenophobia' describes someone whom hates // fears // is prejudge against foreigners. "If they to want a stupid comment, then do it right" , That is what i say. :]
It is simply not.
A logical conversation on that subject is not even xenophobic!

hard for some people to leave race out of it especially when most of the illegal immigration is from Hispanics. Your right about there being pros and cons to it. People like to only see one side of the argument. |

For the same reason the rotten corporations and stinko politicians bring them in. Greed, profits, low wages, and the little man be damned. They ultimately control the media so they can influence and manipulate public opinion.

I know and I truly believe it is wrong to label every anti as a racist...as it is to label every undocumented immigrant Mexican as it is for those antis to only be against Mexicans. You should see many of the answers posted on here. They only bash Mexicans and nobody sees the wrong of it. Has it really become the norm that it is not even considered racist anymore? But I completely get what you understand. As a pro, I try to bring up points other than racism because I understand some antis are truly talking about immigration. There can be ignorance on both sides you know. |

Because certain political groups are using the legitimate concerns of ordinary working class people about immigration to push a racist agenda.
In effect such groups are not interested in genuine, rational democratic debate and are contributing to the problem while stopping others from putting forward rational and fair solutions. |

this is an example of something that happened to me,i was working in a farm, and the owner that hates illegals, when they were not working for him, were fixing a fence, a border patrol agent came and he looked at me then he looked at the owner and not knowing he asked him for his papers because the color of his skin, when the agent left this person was angry because his of Mexican decent but he was born and raised in the us. and stated that if he were white this wouldn't happened and this person had already gone to several wars,it feels different when you're the one being attacked and its not the same he is the type of person who would die for this country and has demonstrated several times, but people still keep profiling. |

HMM I dunno but when I see a video on Youtube of a 12 year old kid who's not even illegal and everyone's posting comments like "get the f**k out you fat s.p.i.c" and "go home w.e.t.b.a.c.k we don't want you here" you tend to kind of get that impression ya know???

It is not in the least racist to want to have an open discussion on immigration.
But when the debate is hijacked by racist parties like the BNP, who claim to want to debate immigration, when all they want to do is to stir up racial hatred, you can understand why there is confusion.
Racists oppose immigration, but not all those who oppose immigration are racist. But some are! |

I agree.. It's because of Capitalism. Yes. You heard right.. In our society it's not the one with true talent who wins, it's the one who uses that talent first (Bill Gates, the founders of Google and Facebook, are not stellar geniuses - they simply got there first).. So in our most cherished country (USA), it's all about beating the Joneses - the proverbial rat race - get there first.. In this race, people use tools... B/c it's a race, rarely do people (all of us) psychoanalyze the tools - they don't have time so they assume the tools work. The "race" card (no pun intended) is one such tool.. People use it blindly, just like you use your tools (even if you don't admit it). |

There is a concerted effort by the mainstream media to portray all of us in the anti-illegal alien movement as anti-immigrant, racists, Nazis, and bigots. All lies. They can't win an argument with us about illegal immigration by debating the facts, so you resort to slander, libel, lies, and distortions. We favor legal immigration, but we adamantly oppose illegal immigration. We believe that the illegal immigrants in our country should not be rewarded with “a path to citizenship,” but should be arrested and deported when caught.
Try as they might to push their pro illegal alien, open borders agenda, the American public is too smart to be fooled by the media lies. We have defeated the Senate Shamnesty bill, and the Bad Dream Act, and we will continue to be victorious in our battle with the pro-Amnesty media elites and their allies in Congress. Below is an excellent reply to the pro illegal alien media types who attack all of us in the anti-illegal alien movement as anti-immigrant by Tom Tancredo. Go get 'em Tom!
Tancredo takes offense at Telegraph editorial
