Why if there is crisis people can't just go and live/work wherever they want?

Well, have you heard of people coming from Europe to the US or people coming to the UK or Ireland for work, maybe it's time for Americans to do the same thing that Europeans used to do in the past thinking that America is the country where all the dreams come true... It's really getting better and better in Europe and I may even say, you can really have a comfy life here in Europe and earn 3 or more times as much as you do in the US... I wish there were no borders between ANY country!! Eg, buying a house in England is so cheap, actually, the prices of houses are getting low and low right now!! European Union is a great thing, maybe it's time to get rid of those borders between the US and the rest of the world??!!

geez, i didn't mean to offend anyone and i didn't want anybody 2 offend me. so don't tell me i skipped classes and stuff... i basically wanted to add that there shouldn't be anything like border in order for us to live wherever we wish! that's all!! also, if i want to live somewhere it's obvious i have to earn money there, so why not eg work in the EU wherever??!! i can't simply because i belong here and need permits and stuff...

In order for your Euphoria to come true, all EU countries must abandon their history, heritage and customs, speak ONE language everyone will understand and stop teaching history of each individual country since they will no longer be important in the future. You can mass-produce people to all think, look and act the same.

Even though you state that everything is better in Europe your logic is flawed. In order to have a world without borders you cannot forget about maintaining law and order in a civilized world. Everything would have to be re-written to accommodate all diversities because as it stands now, everyone is motivated by GREED...not just in EU, but also in corporate America. The middle class in USA has no power or cash now, but the majority of CITIZENS obey the law.

It's a known fact immigrants go where the FREE money is. You can call it opportunity for the immigrant but it is punishment for the Citizen who was born and raised in that location who must work and pay the cost for each immigrant to come and have their baby in your country, then pay for that baby's food, clothing and shelter for 18 years multiplied by however many empty handed immigrants show up pregnant at the hospital. You might want to re-think that one-sided "dream" for the immigrant and burden to the rest.

The only one who wins in your scenario are the nomad immigrants who think they have a right to T-A-K-E what others have in order to live a better life.

Knock, Knock, Im coming into your house because its nicer and you have more food in the fridge. Thanks I think I'll take that new T.V. Nice picture! Ok this is the insaneness of your idea. No borders? Huh. No doors then Eh? What are you really thinking? Whos laws do we follow with no borders? The Muslins who can rape thier wives every five days? Would you like that? You need to stop! Think before you type.

Sorry, lefty but I prefer to live in the USA where the borders are protected and third world radicals stay in there own countries. Unfortunately, we let Obambi's daddy into the USA and look at the horrible results. Europe is about the be taken over by Islam because of your open borders policy. Hope you like wearing a burkha, dear.

Do you work for George Soros?

no borders actually was the norm hundreds of years ago

of course, immigrants got nothing from the government [from other people's pockets] either. no schools [all schooling was either church run or paid by parents], no welfare [work or starve was normal], no free representation in court [pay own barrister or do without], no council housing, no redundancy payments, etc., etc.

and immigrants either learned the language on their own or didn't -- the consequences were theirs and theirs alone. discovering and observing local law was something immigrants either did or failed to do as well

are you sure you'd like to go back to that?

i'm afraid to break it to you but this is a global economic crisis not a US economic crisis. some countries in the EU, such as the UK where i live is in a much worse recession than the US. i think leaving the US is a bad decision for you because its not better anywhere else, the whole world is in recession.

It's a nice idea, but I don't expect that to happen in my lifetime. Right now we have borders and we have wars and people not behaving. If there were no borders because of the way people are, it would be chaos. In Europe they have managed to unite and to share their resources in a way by allowing people from other countries within the EU to work and study in participating countries. But Europe is not that big. The U.S. is already huge with 50 states.

I don't think that we can even consider opening borders between U.S., Canada and Mexico. There is too much imbalance. Mexicans already come over here and into Canada because they don't have enough opportunities. If we were to have some kind of reciprocal work and study agreements like the EU, how many Canadians and Americans would go to Mexico? Most of them would be heading north. And Americans would go to Mexico (as they already do) to build factories and businesses to exploit the cheap labor. If we did something like this we would have to equalize our money--most of the EU is now using the euro and gave up their local currency. How could we do this with the Mexican peso stacked up against the Canadian and U.S. dollar? Even in this crisis our money is still worth more than theirs.
