I have no problem with LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. I have a huge problem with ILLEGAL ALIENS. There is a HUGE difference. It does not make me racist to want people that entered or remained in the US deported. I would be racist if I wanted only a specific race deported, however that is not the case for me.
When I invite someone in my house it is one thing. When someone breaks in to my house it is another. The United States is not the welfare department of other disadvantaged countries. We don't need poor people from other countries, we can't even take care of the ones we have of our own. |

The government does send them back but that is not necessary. They are not here to become Americans. They are here to take whatever they can get. Once we secure the border and eliminate employers who hire them, they will go home. You're the racist if you think we don't have the right to demand immigrants come here legally. We offered amnesty in 1983 when 3 million were here, very few chose to become citizens and now we have over 12 million illegals. Amnesty without secure borders does not work. |

I'm racist and I see no reason to re-examine my thinking. Everyone is racist. Thinking otherwise is just a snotty egotistical move.
I don't think people should be allowed to come to our country illegally. If they want to leave and come back the right way, I see no problem letting them in, but as long as they keep border-hopping, I'm going to keep telling them to go home.
Social Security has enough problems without trying to handle all the illegals in the country. Now New York is trying to pass legislation to give illegals driver's licenses. Why give rights to non-citizens? Why help people who shouldn't even be here?
They need to go back. Their legal relatives can stay. None of them should be here illegally, any more than people should commit illegal acts. They're illegal for a reason!
This applies to people of all ethnicities: Latino, Black, Asian, European, Middle-Eastern. |

Am I a racist? Let me ask my first generation born in America (parents immigrated here legally FROM MEXICO) WIFE! She says I am not. By the way, her and her parents, as well as all of our friends who are here from Mexico LEGALLY all say yes and yes. My wife and in-laws are also responsible for around 50 deportations between them. They are more anti-illegal than I am.
You see, you have such blinders on that you cannot see the difference between IMMIGRATION and ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Considering my mixed heritage, being racist would also have me hating myself.
Why are we so opposed to legalizing illegals. THEY ARE ILLEGAL! They ignore our laws! Legalizing them jumps in front of those who are trying to come here legally. Get a clue! |

Unfortunately, I think many employers want to keep these people illegal because they don't have to pay them as much if they aren't citizens. This, to me, is the biggest problem. If these people would go through the government and report how many immigrant workers they need, the government could get a handle on how to best deal with the situation.
If all of them are given amnesty, we have no idea what the effect will be because we don't even know who or how many are here. Plus they will just keep pouring over here. I think you are wrong about the race issue. The same thing happened years ago when the Irish came over by the millions. You don't realize how it upsets the applecart when approximately 5% of our population is undocumented. That is why soveriegn countries have immigration quotas so they have control of who is here. All countries try to control immigration. To make my point, Mexico automatically imprisons anyone who is caught there without proper documentation. Are they being racists? |

First off, the United States is not NEGATIVE about immigration - that is self evident in the sheer number of different cultures and ethnicity that make up the population of American citizens.
America has always had a large population of LEGAL immigrants - they followed the rules and battled the red tape and became naturalized - in short, they learned the language and became Americans.
How can America, or any other country for that matter, sustain a nation of laws when millions of people literally flaunt these laws and the country turns a blind eye? Yes, America certainly isn't blameless - amnesty once and now we face the same concerns once again. What did we expect?
Personally, I believe that some kind of legislation which would allow the illegals now in this country to become citizens should be passed - but not until we have secured the border - other wise, history has shown that we will just revisit this problem again at a later date. This solution assumes that these illegal immigrants WANT to learn our language and customs and become legal, US citizens - and lately, that's really debatable. |

if a person wants to come here they apply for a visa and come legally. if they don't come in this manner, if they come illegally they are criminals and should be sent back. to have them come illegally and then be rewarded for coming illegally is ridiculous. if that is how you feel then why don't we just say to everyone in the world, "come here you don't need documents from where ever and there will be no consequences. that is completely insane!!!
there are rules for immigration for good reasons. according to you if we don't just let all of these people in, and allow them to stay, whoever they are, we are racist!!!

It is about too many people we are subsidizing for education and health care and other services because they are too poor to pay enough tax to cover their services, and the fact that this means education and health care are now failing our own people.

The problem is not so much the fact that there are immigrants, it is the fact that everyone in the world wants to immigrate to the US. Now, if there were unlimited amount of resources this would be ok but since there is not it is not.
The USA was not originally made of immigrants, it was made up of native Americans. True there were immigrants later but that was when the land was mostly un-developed. |
