Although immigration is a legitimate issue, an issue that deserves serious consideration, a lot of the public obsession with illegal aliens is due to frustration in their own lives.

Wasting taxpayer money is never acceptable. However, I feel that it is more justified for our taxpayer dollars to go to our own citizens rather than to the citizens of other countries who are here illegally. Personally, I would love to see an overhaul of our social services to force people off welfare who are not really entitled to it. However, I do not think we should be supporting the citizens of other countries with our services that are intended only for our own legal citizens.

I dont think its acceptable for anyone to abuse the system, but I personally feel that if a legal citizen decides to abuse the system, odds are they have at least contributed in the past. Illegals have not. Welfare/ unemployment is for citizens of the US. Not anyone who wanders in the country illegally.

I think that since were in the middle of this immigration crap, we should cut off all the handouts to illegals, then turn around when thats done and kick the citizens in the @ss who are abusing our system.

Because it's our money to waste. I'm mad at all waste, and I use to work for the government and see it first hand. Since when white collar worker are the people who abuse the system the most. This country is carried by the middle class. The poor do not pay enough taxes to carry their expenses and the rich is not large enough to pay for running our government. If you look at the felons found in various zip codes, the highest level of felons are in teh poor neighborhood and drops down to sero at the middle class neighborhoods and then goes back up for the rich. As for why they get more coverage. Illegal immigrants abusing our sytem is far more clear cut. They should not be using any of our resources. I do agree we need more covereage in abuses in our entitlement program by some of the poor. Corruption performed by military contractors. Financial impropriety by some of the rich and all the other waste.

I agree that media coverage is severely skewed, usually toward the right wing conservative, and we should all be upset about this, because it is obvious, after reading some of the comments on this site around immigration, that many are uninformed. We must remember that the major television networks are owned by big corporate conglomerates that control airtime, programming us to their liking.

No, illegal immigrants shouldn't be given a free ride, but are they? Can they recieve adequate health care? Hell, I'm a fifth generation American of Mexican decent, and I can't even get adequate health care without having to go into debt. Can these recent immigrants get on welfare? No! But, how many Americans are exploiting That system, and have been for years now?

And why aren't we discussing the white collar employer who seduces immigrants with an abundance of work. Maybe if we'd start to put dignity back into the factory, by providing all the benefits that a union would, more Americans would want to do the work. We should all be applauding these recent immigrants for being the platform this country stands on.

The recent immigrant has always done the dirty work: The Italian, the Irish, the Southeast Asian, and the Mexican. And of course, we are all indebted to the Black American. And let us not forget applauding the original keepers of this land: The Native American.

So you think someone that is a citizen here and has worked for years and paid taxes and gets a bad break is not worth helping? But someone who invades the country and works under the table deserves the same help or benefits?

Even people that are citizens and work for low wages that need help with medical or food stamps deserve the help. It is not always someone's fault that they are not making enough money. It is someone's fault that they do illegal actions and invade a country and take what they can grab.

At one time I had no problem with illegal immigration - so a few illegals show up earn a paycheck and send some money home - what's wrong with that? But everything has changed and the illegals are now the single biggest drain on our economy and growing at a rate that is incomprehensible. I heard an official stat recently that said there are 12 million illegals in the U.S. and for each one we know about there are nearly 100 we don't know about. Each one who comes in illegally brings several family members some of which brings in more. It must be dealt with in some manor.

The programs are in place for Americans, however. They are not in place for illegals. If my kids waste food from our refrigerator it is very different from some stranger coming in and taking it.

You can complain about illegal aliens.
You can complain about citizens.

You can compare illegal aliens to other illegal aliens, and you can compare citizens to other citizens of the same country.

You CANNOT compare illegal aliens to citizens. Illegal aliens have no rights as a citizen in the country. Illegal aliens don't belong here in the first place, much less thinking they deserve to be compared to legal citizens.

Deport the illegal aliens. We (as does as any large country) has our OWN issues to deal with, some of which you mentioned. We don't need to ADD to them.

I just got back from a family reunion where I had a chance to visit with my sister-in-laws father-in-law. He told me when he immigrated from Germany to the US in 1953 he couldn't learn to read or write English fast enough.

He didn't fly the German flag above an upside down US flag! He wanted to be American. Not a German living in America!

So people leave Mexico because it's sh#tty down there. And what do they do? They bring all that is sh#tty with them making America sh#tty too.

Having to live and work in Mexico for 4 months I made every attempt to speak, read and write in their language. Why not I am a guest in their country. What I didn't like is how I was constantly corrected for not speaking the language correctly. It was so frustrating, I stopped trying.

So now... when a Mexican speaks English to me and it isn't gramatically perfect. I simply tell them I can't understand them and walk away.

So... give the Illegals a job fighting as soldiers in Iraq. When the war is over... then they can become citizens. In the meantime...those that can't fight can build a wall separating Mexico from the US. Just make sure they are on the Mexican side of the wall while it is being made.

We all have our own idea of whats right and wrong dont we???I dont know how to fix it but but I pray someone figures it out soon!! We do waste tax payers money.I cant even begin to tell you the # of Americans I have seen on welfair, disability,cashing in food stamps and then dressed to the hilt on the weekend ready to Party!If your that ill or handicapped to not be able to work how do they do some of the "things" they are able to do!?!My husband owns and operates a pinestaw business,is from Mexico and yes is LEGAL and we have tried faithfully to hire citizens and NO LEGAL white or black citizen will do the work they do!Pinestraw,Vidalia onions,cotton,tobacco-NONE will do it!I see Mexicans going to work so ill they are passing out from the heat,lack of food and needing medical attention.They are not the ones crying,they want to know where the next job is so they can provide for their LOVED ones,not fighting mad because the goverment was late issuing "their CHECK".Business' are are sending trucks to mexico recruiting people and crossing them illegally with false promices of great jobs and even helping them to become citizens and when they get here work their tail off for these business owners the rest of the country is cussing...send them back its their fault my life is terrible...wake up America,get educated on all the fact and when did we all become so quick to judge??I think we better open our eyes we are loosing the lives of so many precious men and women defending our country and no end in sight to that.Mexico is our F!R!I!E!N!D!S we may need to call on them someday!Why are we making them the enimy when in REALITY their not!They are working jobs here no one else will do but are vital to our economy,theyre not the ones yeilding bombs and trying to destroy us.Do the research and look up just how many illegals are actually serving in our millitary,its astounding and no one sees that side of them ...because they are different!I just feel we need to take a look at the whole picture and not be so quick to hate!At this point in time mexico is our friends but with so much anger we show them they might just bite us in the *** someday.After all isnt that what were teaching them is the American nature?Lets pick our battles a little more carefully and put our heads to better use and find a civilized awnser for the ones who truly do want to just be our friends and make a better life for themselves!

You are 100% right, but I am going to add another detail: illegals are force to get an ID. Tax Payer sort of thing, to pay all the taxes that they might owe, but they can't not use this number to get a job, and plus, from millions applying, probabbly three or four get some tax money return, so you are a freaking illegal inm, and you have to pay taxes, and you still can not get a job, and plus the inmigration reform die in the senate today, but the goverment and the riches oversee this type of things, they just milk inmigration workers up; and that's cool, but I love to say this; THERE'S ONE WATCHING ABOVE.

Some of the money isn't actually wasted. If the money is spent on education, then it is a great investment, especially if the parents don't pay enough taxes to pay for their children's educations. The taxpayers should be glad that the next generation from these families will be more likely to grow up educated and productive.

The same goes for health care. Let people, whether legal or not have good preventive health care now and we'll have fewer serious health emergencies in the future.

Lets us not forget good old Clearchannel Communications. And as for saying that you want all illegals deported, where do you want us to drop you off?

That is definitely a logical question. I don't believe it is fair either because many of the individuals that have immigrated here have to pay the federal income tax, even though they maybe using a false social security number. I think it is because society is is concentrating a little too much on the whole immigration issue and blowing it out of proportion.
