Amazing, how majority of the answers complain about illegals working illegally and not paying taxes. Who is giving these illegals their jobs? business who also are trying to get out of paying taxes and getting good work for dirt cheap. these illegals are making these business peoples bank account's FAT, but no complaint's on that, HUH? THESE AMERICANS are also breaking the law, if they did not offer the jobs, the immigrants would not come. REMEMBER, when you point at someone you get 3 fingers pointing back at you! THINK ABOUT THAT, AMERICANS!

No, it is a crime to work without paying taxes.

It is a crime to undercut the accepted labor rate, and drive many American citizens into unemployment, simply because a dollar goes further in Mexico.

It is a crime to come to steal someone's identity and use it to get a job.

It is a crime to come here with diseases like TB and not get tested so you spread them in our country.

Because they break laws when they cross the border. It isn't just illegally crossing the border. They use the system and give nothing back. I have a perfect example. I HAD illegal aliens who were my neighbors..they TRASHED the house that they had bought...they then ended up not paying taxes even on the house so the house was auctioned off. They have only been in the house 2.5 years.

They commit many other crimes while they are here, JUST TO BE HERE:

1. Don't pay income taxes or document work.

2. Many commit ID theft..My husband is one of those people.

3. Illegals bring poverty with them...20 people to 1 house is NOT sanitary.

4. Illegal aliens send back millions of $$$ back to their country of origin.

No, It is not a crime to work, BUT it is a crime if they don't do it legally.

Yes, illegal means going against the law. Many people fail to acknowledge that many of our own are in poverty level and need jobs. Instead illegals are taking them. They should instead try to make their homeland a better place. By saying that its okay to be an illegal immigrant you're saying that its okay to break the law.

It's a crime to cross the border without permission. The ILLEGAL aliens are criminals because they are here illegally.

AND it is a crime to work here illegally - most of the illegals are working here illegally.

Besides, they don't pay taxes, they sponge off the tax payer, they are destroying our education and health care system.

It's illegal to work without proper identification. You must have a valid social security card, visa or whatever. The IRS wants to tax these millions of people. That's just the begining of the problems with the illegal immigrants.

Yes it is a crime to come here without following the proper procedure and being granted access. It is the same as breaking into someone's house and washing floors..it is illegal

its a crime to be illegal, becase it's illegal by definition. there is is not a crime to work. but it is crime to break immigration laws to enter the country to work. It's really pretty simple if you just take a step back and look at it objectively. I do not blame these people for what they are doing, but that doesnt change the fact that they are breaking laws.

Working is not a crime at all. Breaking the law by sneaking over a border or over staying a visa is illegal. Illegal, by definition, means against the law. Things that are against the law are crimes. Simple. People ARE welcome to come here - LEGALLY. There are people all over the world that have been waiting for years to gain admittance, because they are conscientious and law abiding and respect the laws of our country.

I came here and did all the paperwork, I paid an immigration attorney thousands of dollars. I got a green card legally and took years, lots of hard work, being interrogated and all the time paying. So, why should someone who breaks the law be allowed to get away with it and be given everything. I have paid taxes since I have been here and no one ever gave me a break.

It is when they work with out paying federal taxes, social security, workers comp insurance, state tax where that applies and all the other unnecessary deductions that everyone else has to pay. It is when they will do the task for the fly-by-night companies who are just too cheap to hire legal citizens. See its not just the illegal immigrants its the business owners too! They will be paying a hefty penalty for contributing to this issue. As far as legalizing from an immigrant to a temporary working citizen this is not illegal. Knock yourself out work as much as you want! Doing it the way this country has officially organized it run is not illegal and more power to you immigrants that are on the up and up!

It's a crime to take advantage of our businesses without paying taxes and doing the things that Americans have worked so hard for like education. Working is not a crime. Being in a country without proper documentation is. Using false documentation of obtain work is also a crime.

Entering another country is a little like visiting a home. If you are invited, you are welcomed. If you are not invited, but knock at the door and the homeowner does not answer the door, you cannot simply enter the house. That is a crime. Venturing into another country without obtaining a visa and without a passport or other documentation is like trespassing. Entering that country and expecting the host country to provide medical attention and schooling for your children and welfare benefits is an outrage. It is illegal and wrong.

The United States has been very tolerant of families who come to this country to work, but they are not obliged to accept the massive migration that has recently crossed its borders. The people of the United States do not want gangs, drugs, and should not have to pay for prisons to house the criminals who have entered the United States along with the decent families who have come here to work.

Something must be done to control the borders, and it would help if people from other countries would respect our borders and our laws and go through the proper processes to obtain permission to enter this country.

We have immigration laws. I know it's become a stretch to realize that in the land of the free and home of the brave......we have laws. We have rules. We have regulations and stipulations and boundries and limits. We have people here that want to work as well. No...working isn't a crime. You can work back in your own country though. I mean they haven't made it against the law there have they?

So being able to work isn't the issue. Enough jobs for all the people who need them and payment for those jobs being enough to live on is the problem. Guess what? It's a problem here as well and getting worse depending on where you live and how strictly they inforce the laws. I can't go into any country on this Earth and just go in and work. NOWHERE. Why are we expected to be any different?

I'll explain this the best way I can. If someone committed a crime against you or your family, it doesn't matter the crime, it could be anything from identity theft to murder, wouldn't you want that person to be found and brought to justice? How is the government supposed to do that when they don't even know who has crossed here illegally?

This is a reasonable question. You are probably young. We live in a tax based society. You have to be a member of this society to get a social security number so you can pay taxes etc. Our tax dollars provide an education, welfare for the needy, roads and civil servants ( to name a few). When someone is reaping the benefits of our system without paying in it puts a strain on the rest of us. We pay more taxes, with fewer benefits to go around. There are security reasons as well. Since 9/11 it is very important that we know who is entering our country. I am all for legal immigration. Peace to you.

Yes when it is too many people looking for too cheap wages and driving down wages for our own people so we have to pay for their living in aid they don't want to take.

Yes when they send their children to our overcrowded schools and their non English speaking children take a disproportionate amount of funds from our own children.

Yes when California spent $400,000,000 last year on birth care for illegals and their children who wouldn't be here except that their parents are here illegally aren't after that even counted in the numbers if they get food stamps and aid to families with dependent children.

We subsidize services for poor people who can't make enough to cover in taxes the cost of what they use in services. Their better life is at our expense. That is why we limit how many poor people we are willing to take.
