Along with one's freedom comes responsibility. They are inseparable. Irresponsibility puts the burden onto those who act responsibly. Is that fair?

I don't... The issue for me is:

1) Minimum wage is a joke. It is not a LIVING wage. The only person that would do it is someone accustom to poverty.

2) Beyond our southern border, the governments down yonder should also create jobs with decent pay. I know it is hard for undocumented immigrants to be up rooted and away from their beloved families that they send money to. Take Canada, they have it pretty good there and you don't find them in the undocumented category.

Also, it is a real slap in the face for those who came here legally, if the cheaters (illegals) are granted amnesty. I would welcome anyone to America as long as they came the legal way, documented, learned the English language, etc.

To your last question, why is driving through your neighborhood at 95 mph illegal. Both are illegal and dangerous, get it?

IT'S LIKE THIS- as an american citizen you have a few things that an illegal immigrant does not have. first of all you have a social security card. this is to identify you. second of all, you have a birth certificate. this is also to identify you. third of all even if you have neither of those, your identity is somewhere on record with the united states of america so that they know who you are and that you exist. why do they care? well what if you start killing a bunch of people? what if you fly a plane into a skyscraper? what if you die of the ebola virus mysteriously? step one of the investigation/ of these incidences in order to prevent them from occuring again- is to know who you are. if you died of the ebola vir and i din;t know who u were, i wouldn;t be able to find the people you had potentially contaminated. if you had commited a terrorist act- well who helped you? i can;t answer that if i do not know who YOU are. Identity is just one reason that everyone in america needs to be legalized. once we know who you are, we can know what you've done. where you've been. not to the point of privacy invasion, but someone unknown to the american government could rack up millions of dollars in parking tickets nationwide and never have to pay them. sounds like a dream life, right? except my tax money is paying for your life. TAXES!! yet another reason to have everyone legally recognized. u and i both pay taxes but illegal immigrants get to benefit from things like brand new freeways and parks and all that crap, and they pay nothing for it. could go on further but i think you get the point.

It has nothing to do with the races that live in our country... but if they do not enter the country legally then they are not forced to pay taxes, and they work so cheaply that they cause legal US residents jobs because US residents are not allowed by law to work for less than minimum wage.

Illegal immigrants take advantage of our services that come from our tax money, but contribute nothing to the tax pool. They are an economic drain on the country! If they want to come here, they can take the time to do the paperwork and make it legal... if they refuse to do that, then they should be deported!

It is not IRRESPONSIBLE to keep illegal immigrants out of the country... it is IRRESPONSIBLE to steal tax dollars from tax paying american citizens to offer these people aid when they do not contribute!

I think it is great maybe you can sponsor two or three families and if you are living at home I am sure your parents would love to. If your family doesn't enough money you can share your things.

OH HI. they dont pay taxes. perhaps you dont have 200.00 dollars of your hard earned money taken out of your check every 2 weeks so some people can not work and have 5 subsidised apts apts. for their 3 wives and their 12 kids. dont get me started i was in a good mood.

The reason the new laws are being propesed by the senate is NOT because America doe not wish them to be here to start a better life, it is in the interest of national security and accountablillity that those laws are being considered. I myself am not a proponent of the 'get tough' laws, but i do see their purpose, they are being made to help account for all the poeple that are currently residing in the US. the first reason for this is national securtiy, and the Department of Defense has calculated that 'terrorist forces' could easily infiltrate the US through the borders, and bring along the death and destruction of 9-11 all over again. The second, more practical reason is accountabillity issues. Congress and to a lesser extent the senete, feels as thought it is 'unfair' to the legal us citizens that people should be able to sneak into the United States and enjoy the same benifits as them; while the Legal Citizens would still have to pay for Taxes, property fees, and social security. The latter reason in particular leads some people to believe that Illegal immigration 'robs' them of their money, jobs, and prosperity. Although a proponent of streamlining the legalizing of immigrants, i must admit that it is unjustified for those illegal immigrants to enjoy the same benifits without having to pay for them.

This is the primary reason why laws are being enacted to toughen security of the borders, not anti-immigrant sentiment, and i can assure you that any law that is proposed upon that belief will be quickly crushed by congress.

First and foremost, it's called ILLEGAL immigration for a reason. There needs to be control. Living in Los Angeles for the past 20 years, I've seen first hand how it bleeds our economy and resources to death. In the past two years, 8 (EIGHT) hospitals shut down because illegal immigrants would come in for colds, flus, cuts and whatever to the ER and no insurance was covering it. As a result, thousands of nurses, doctors and hospital workers lost their jobs. This isn't condusive to a healthy, thriving economy, it is the demise of one. It's just not okay to break the law, PERIOD. No one is saying "don't come to this country" we're saying "If you respect our country, than you will respect its laws and policies and contribute the way everyone else does." They don't pay taxes on the income that they make which is 25% to 43% in CA and how is that fair for the rest of us to foot the bill?? There has to be control. Also, I can't tell you how many times we see on the news that an illegal killed someone in a car, homicide or whatever and then flees back to Mexico only to leave the victims with the bill. Come on, this is just absurd. No other country puts up with this. And let's not even go to the place of stolen identity. I can drive to work and on the way, I pass about 4 places where people produce social security cards out of their vans and no one does anything. When you get your identity stolen, come back to Yahoo answers and see how you feel. :)

I think it's great to have a variety of cultures and races. However, i think that people should do it legally. If I decided I wanted to go live in Mexico (or any other country) without the proper documentation, I would expect to get thrown in the prison before getting deported. You can't just go live in other countries for the heck of it, so I expect the same laws to apply in the US.

because i go to jail if i do something illegal. In mexico you either bribe the right person or you go to jail. What's so hard to understand??? There is a border, they are told not to cross it and they do anyway. This land of freedom was bought and paid for by the blood of patriot immigrants, why can't they do the same in their countries? It's not that we don't want diversity, but the kind of people you are referring to are here ILLEGALLY! There are plenty of natural US CITIZENS who are supposed to be here that need our assistance. If people from other countries want to live here, they need to go thru the proper LEGAL channels. Supposedly there are an estimated 70 million illegal immigrants in the US right now, add that to the current homeless and welfare population of LEGAL US CITIZENS, and you should be able to figure out why that is a BIG problem. We can't even take care of our own citizens, why should we be expected to take care of people who are here illegally?????

also if you get hit by a car and an "undocumented immigrant" aka an illegal immigrant. they wont have insurants. which means that your will have to pay, making you have to pay higher premiums.

It's not a bad idea there are many benifits of having illegal immigrants. Infact if we were to loose those folks our econmy would go down the drain, we would be in big trouble if lost them.

We have allowed them to take part in what our country has to offer for a LONG time, and most of us kept quiet about the fact that instead of paying taxes they lived off of ours, and that our medical costs went up so that theirs could be free, and that they were allowed to stuff 20 people in a truck and we had to make sure everyone had a seatbelt. Things have not been fair for a long long time, but for the most part we didn't complain.

Now we have to sit back and watch as they burn our flags and rip them from their poles and place their flags in their place. We have to be quiet and hear that Cinco De Mayo is celebrated more than the 4th of July. We have to say nothing every payday as we see how much was taken out in taxes, knowing that it's so we can support over 12 MILLION ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. I don't think so. We don't have to keep quiet anymore, were done being polite and we have more of a right to freedom of speech than illegals ever did.
