Why is racism still around?

Racism will end when the world ends and there are no more human beings.

But not wanting illegal aliens in this country is not about race its about the impact of their blatant illegality and its negative effect on our nation.

There is no major complaint against legal immigrants. It is those who do not obey immigration laws in coming here that draw such derision.

There is also strong resistence in the latino community to americanize themelves, unlike previous migrations of germans, irish, italians, russian, asian, pacific islanders, and africans.

I am not blaming the victim, but illegal immigrants need to understand the objection to them is not the immigrant part of their label, but the illegal part of their label.

Unlike latinos, my ancestors were forced to come here.

First off, a lot of racists oppose illegal immigration. That doesn't mean, however, that everyone who opposes illegal immigration is a racist. I think that's an important distinction to make.

That said, racism persists because people refuse to be educated. It's easier to lash out at people's differences than it is to make the effort to understand them.

As long as there are races, there will be racism. Stereotypes are created and maintained by the group stereotyped. If the stereotype was not perpetuated, it would go away.

EVERYONE is racist to an extent including Latinos. If you read the posts from the Latinos on this message board, their comments are some of the most racist here.

By the way, racism these days has nothing to do with skin color. It has to do with the behavior of a large percentage of an ethnic group. These days, most illegal immigrants are Mexican, and the parasitic BEHAVIOR of these people is what causes American citizens to be so angry and disgusted.

Bottom line: If you don't want people to hate you, don't do anything illegal and don't expect freebies from taxpayers!

By the way, it is dangerous to have people in the USA who do not speak English because during an emergency people cannot understand each other. It is also expensive because every business now needs a translator all because Latino immigrants don't want to bother learning English. If you don't want to learn our language, don't move here! If I moved to a Spanish-speaking country, I would learn Spanish as soon as possible!

Racism will always be around. People just look at people of a different race, and think of what their parents or friends said about them. If everyone were blind, then there would be no racism between different colored skins.

There is nothing racist about it . As Americans we have a right to not want to be taken over by another country or race of illegal aliens .
To tell you the truth , I've heard plenty of racist talk from Spanish speaking people .
They tell me they hate old white people and when they take over the US , they will do away with us and our white children .

Its not so much about racism as it is about illegal immigration. People just do not like the idea of illegal immigrants, and the truth is that the majority of illegal immigrants emigrate from Mexico. Racism is still around because every race is different, and some people can't seem to be able to accept (let alone respect) someone who is different. For those that call to criminalize speaking a foreign language, I think that's absurd! We should be broadening our culture, not limiting it.

And they immediately play the racist card! I read your question, and it breaks my heart that racism will always be around. People who do not understand something will typically attack it, make fun of it, and put everyone with that one thing that they do not understand in that category. I was guilty of it when I was in school, 3 grade and I will never forget it. She was a black girl that was new in school, and to make it worse for her she was the first in my elementary school. she was different and she became the one that I picked on, because I was scared and uneducated, and raised not to like black people. Thank God it happened to me(3years later) in return and made me realize the terrible pain I caused her. I am doing my best to raise my kids differently, and to be open and willing to learn rather than to judge. And by the way THAT BLACK GIRL became my best friend and we even dated for about 2 years when I returned to that school. It all starts with the parents and what values they instill in their children. So teach your children to love all people no matter of their color,shape,or even their eye color.

there is always going to be racism as long as parents teach there kids that some people are better than others.Most people are upset with the immigrants because they are violating our laws. We can't open our borders to the world.If people would enter this country legally that is entirely different.And as guests here they should be sent home for not obeying our laws. And one law should be to speak English.

I cannot answer for people who make racist remarks, as I am not one of them. However, I do understand the difference between legal immigration and illegal aliens. And, I don't want illegal aliens here, of any race or nationality. Just as I welcome all legal immigrants - of any race or nationality. There is much focus on the Spanish speaking groups, simply for the fact that it comprises the largest amount of both legal and illegal activity. The Irish have had their turn in the past, as have Germans, and Italians, and on and on...

It disgusts me also! Unfortunately we have to learn to live with the fact that there are so many small-minded, ignorant people out there with one brain cell between all of them.
Racism will never be wiped out, not when there are so many people with views like this living in the world, so many cults and organizations trying to hate against certain people.
It's sickening, foul, absoulutely in humane, but there's nothing we good people can do except live with it and count ourselves lucky we are one of the few people with brains and a good heart.

Fortunately, in my experience, such extreme racists are few in number. It just seem like those terrible excuses for members of the human race are numerous. Probably because their shocking statements seem to linger on our minds and souls and also get repeated or amplified by those who have an agenda.
I believe English should be the official language of the U.S. That is for legal proposes since it is extremely difficult to translate exact legal matters from one language to another.
That aside, speak any language you wish. It adds variety to our culture. Please do not fail to learn English or you will marginalize yourself to the edges of society and limit you chances to excel.
