Why is the US cracking down on the illegal immigrants harder than the people that hire them? Is it because?

the people whom hire the illegals are rich and therefore above the law?

Like the first answer said, its because the people who hire them have plausible deniability while the illegals know they did wrong. Although some of these places go along with illegals and will ignore it when the SSN comes back as bogus and the illegal gets them a new one the next day.

I think both should get punished severely. We don't have the money or the jobs to share with illegals or the greedy corporations and businesses who profit from them. Steep fines and jail time for hiring, and confiscation of property and deportation for illegals. The law should also be changed that at least one parent must be an American citizen for a baby born in USA to be an American citizen. These illegals who come across the border just to drop their kids and claim citizenship must be stopped.

Partially.

And partially you also have to prove that the employers knew (or should have known) that the workers were illegal. With identity theft as common among illegals as it is, that's not super easy.

On the other hand, it is easy to prove that the illegals are here... illegally.

Cracking down on employers is necessary but totally inadequate for two main reasons:
1. Most illegal aliens do not work. Less than 50% of illegal aliens do any sort of work whatsoever. Of those who do work, less than half (ie. less than 1/4 of the illegal alien population) work on any regular basis or in an ordinary job. The rest who work (or get income) work irregularly, like day labor, arrange some kind of business (like a lawnmowing or handyman biz), or derive income illegally (e.g. dealing drugs, fencing stolen property, etc). Since more than 1/2 of illegal aliens do not work, we cannot catch them solely by raiding employers.

2. Many illegal aliens have false, forged, stolen identification and employers cannot always tell that this is the case. For example, if an illegal alien has stolen a citizen's SSN, when the employer verifies, it turns up as "valid to work." Employers should not be penalized when they are deceived and defrauded by the illegal aliens. The illegal aliens should be prosecuted for fraud, identity theft, and required to pay the $10,000 fine which the employer is subject to.

You got it right...it's a discrimination...but on the other hand I hear of case that the employer went to prison for 3 months..but of course she wasn't that famous or that rich...so it all depends :-)

This shows you that its really about the people, not about the so called laws that are supposted to be followed by american too. See the govt is so quick to wanna show off by doing raids, and people keep complaining about undocumented like they aint humans.... but yet, employers are okay... only if they get caught I guess.... aint that a contradiction....? aint that a B*&^#!!! I think raids are done just for attention, to show americans what they wanna see... and all they wanna see is others in pain and not succeed in life... they get some type of joy from it and is really sad.....
