Why is there so much hatred for Mexicans when Bush decided to address problems with illegal immigration?

There is not so much hatred towards Mexicans, but, the media hypes up the racists in America and those racists feel empowered to make a stand.

Many people forget what a good trading partner Mexico is, as well as a politically and militarily stable neighbor, who is also a US war ally.

The US also makes lots of money trading with Mexico.

All governments, our own included, are very corrupt. One of Mexico's main problems is their inability to attract corporate investment in their country.

Their isn't enough existing corporate infrastructure to attract big dollar investments.

In addition, Mexico's rampaging drug trade doesn't help much either. Interesting that these anti-Mexican politicians and citizens blame Mexico for America's problems, but are silent or non-supportive of Mexican initiatives to control the drug trade. Creating a stable environment for foreign investment is key to economic development.

The federal government successfully pressured President Fox to recall his support for a bill that would legalize the possession of small amounts of drugs for personal use. This would have freed up thousands of Mexican police officers and soldiers for the war against the big-time smugglers and drug lords. We did not support Mexico on that one.

During Hurrican Katrina, the Mexican Army sent two emergency kitchen convoys to the affected areas. They were given permission to enter because the US government couldn't feed their own people. The Mexican Army didn't ask anyone what their nationality was: if someone was hungry, then they were fed.

During Hurrican Katrina, the Mexican Navy sent a medical ship to Louisiana to provide emergency medical treatment to anyone who needed it, and that ship was busy! Again, no one was asked what their nationality was.

The US government never thanked the Mexican government for their support.

That is an example of a conscientous neighbor, and what do we do? We criticize, insult, and disrespect.

Ever visited Mexico? It is a beautiful and wonderous country. Millenia old ruins of step temples, beautiful coral reefs for scuba diving, quaint Maya villages to visit and the list goes on.

Enough with the anti-Mexico tirades already. Mexico, the Mexican government, and Mexican illegals are not to blame for the problems America has. Americans who are truly concerned about the direction our country is headed in needs to look inward. . .

we cant help that our goverment is so corrupt either. and that our goverment offers no aid to a lot of its people that need it.but we live here and yes we ***** about things that will never change.but were not running over and bullying our way in to another country, demanding they feed us and keep us up.because if we did we would go hungry, because other countries dont lay down and let illegals **** all over them, like the ******* who run this country.

I don't think that most people have trouble with Mexicans. It's ILLEGAL immigrants. I can understand them coming here but I don't want to pay for their health care, schooling and translating everything into Spanish.

Maybe all US citizen should boycott Mexico!!

I have no hatred for Mexicans, but I do believe that they need to come here legally. You can't just go breaking laws of another country. I hate to sound selfish, but we don't have enough jobs for our own people in our country as it is. At least not where I live. Why can't they go after their own government, America has enough of it's own problems.

I don't know how the Canadian got into our discussion, but I could say quite a lot about tensions between French Canadians and Anglo Canadians, not to mention poor treatment of native American minorities in Canada, much less your continued archaic allegiance to the Queen of another country.

I see it again, people saying that Bush causes hate for the Mexicans. I think someone needs to see what is going on in the world. Bush, whom I voted for is the Mexicans best friend. If left to him the borders would not be fixed and this is the only reason that I regret my vote. I still am a Bush supporter but I think that he would give all illegals amnesty if it were up to him and I totally think that is wrong.

The Mexicans are invading to take over the USA and make it part of Mexico.

The illegals make up about 5 % of the work force. The unemployment rate is about 4.5%. Keep in mind that the unemployment rate does NOT represent everyone who is unemployed. It only counts those who are collecting unemployment. Everyone else's plight is ignored. The unemployment rate if everyone was counted would be tremendous. We do NOT have a shortage of labor, we have a large surplus. The more illegals that come in and take our jobs at minimum wage or less (often less) puts more and more Americans out of a job. Most of these Americans are never counted in the unemployment rate if they do not manage to get unemployment benefits. Unemployment benefits are hard to receive.

Illegals draw welfare by stealing people's social security numbers and identities. That means there are a lot of people being directly hurt by these people as well. Innocent people are having their credit ratings ruined, having IRS problems, and social security problems. If someone who has had their social security number stolen gets married, if either spouse dies or become disabled then they can be denied their benefits.

My family moved to the US before WWII. Those of my family that didn't make it over got killed by the death camps. Our family assimilated to the American culture. We didn't expect the Americans to change to suit us. The illegal immigrants from Mexico are not civilized like that.

They not only changed the National Anthem to Spanish, they changed the words. They already burn our flag and hang our flag upside down. They waved the Mexican flag during a lot of their protests. Some schools have stopped hanging the American flag and forbidden students from wearing clothes with any part of the American flag on their clothing all to keep from offending the Mexicans. It's nothing short of an attack of our country, not only by the illegal aliens, but those who seek to appease them.

I am tired of the stereotype that Americans wouldn't do the work that illegals do. Illegals do all kinds of jobs for less than minimum wage which drives the wages down for U.S. citizens. Construction jobs are an example. There are lots of illegals doing construction jobs that Americans used to do because the companies can keep more of the profits if they pay less for the workers. All that does is make companies wealthier and Americans poorer. Illegals are stealing jobs that Americans have done for years.

In fact, this is not about individual immigrants and their families, legal or illegal. It is about a great national migration, a nation of people moving into our nationâ€™s land, in order to reproduce on it their own nation and people and push ours aside.

Thus, in orchestrating this war on America, the Mexican state is representing the desires of the Mexican people as a whole.

What are these desires?

(1) Political revanchismâ€”to regain control of the territories Mexico lost to the U.S. in 1848, thus avenging themselves for the humiliations they feel they have suffered at our hands for the last century and a half;

(2) Cultural imperialismâ€”to expand the Mexican culture and the Spanish language into North America; and especially

(3) Economic parasitismâ€”to maintain and increase the flow of billions of dollars that Mexicans in the U.S. send back to their relatives at home every year, a major factor keeping the chronically troubled Mexican economy afloat and the corrupt Mexican political system cocooned in its status quo. "

I don't know anybody that hates Mexicans.
We like Mexicans in Texas.
But, too many people coming over without controls is not good for security reasons.

I believe Bush is sincere in believing that his is the best solution. However, Bush's solution has a certain amount of smoke and mirrors which makes people mad. Smoke (national guard to the border) and mirrors (equating an increase in perpetually underpaid immigration in the future with the legalization of currently resident, qualified illegal immigrants who have been here long enough that this is their 'home'.)

I agree that the anger should be directed at the government, but I would choose our own government as the target.
