Why is u.s. citizenship the most sought after citizenship in the world? does anyone know?

Because you still have a beetter chance in getting a decent education and job, which makes a whole lot of difference compared to most countries. However, that is still no excuse for illegal immigration.

To Mr Sidwell: The USA does have its problems with education and the economy but that is no reason to trash the USA. Presidents Bush and Obama are not idiots but just bad presidents.

But no one is flocking to China, Russia, Israel, Canada, or any other country as compared to the USA. There are still very good opportunities here in the USA, especially if you are educated. You should take a survey on immigrants on why they flock to the USA instead of China before making such a bias statement.

You say look at the grammar, well you have a point there. I spoke to several US teachers and they told me that this country does not faithfully teach grammar. But when you make a statement like that, have some solid facts like references to back you up. The grammar you see in Yahoo Answers is very poor but not all of them are from the USA. Some are from the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. This is a problem reflected in the primary and secondary schools in English speaking countries.

Other than the grammar problem, we do have excellent universities and colleges â€“ especially in state and city colleges. They produce graduates that have contributed to business, medicine, and engineering.

USA is still the most sought citizenship, to the one who said China well that's ridiculous. It is only good for businessmen because of cheap labor, other than that no one wants to be in China for the rest of their lives. It is a totalitarian country. America may not be so free compared to when it was first established due to complex situations now but I will bet it is better in terms of freedom, people have still the say when it comes to choosing their leaders unlike in China where people are mere puppets.
