Why now do countries have a problem with immigration?
|
because its immigration that built human culture and most people are descendant of a immigrant and it really annoyed me when a while ago there was a woman from america on tv saying that immigrants shouldn't come to america and america doesn't want immigrants when almost every person in america is a immigrant

This is 2009 not 1910. Immigration is no longer needed. WE do not have unlimited space or natural resources. We cannot hold the worlds population on one little continent nor can we financially support the worlds population with the number of legal citizens who work and pay taxes.
We are no longer immigrants and haven't been for a couple of generations. We are nearly ALL natural born American citizens at this point in time.
Take the time to look at the facts and think things through rather than jump to conclusions based on how you feel. You make decisions based on need not feeling. |

Maybe it has to do with strength in numbers. A friend of ours comes from a small village in Catalonia and the first and second-generation immigrants from North Africa spoke Catalan with mountain accent. Now that the community is bigger, the third generation speaks only arabic and the women wear head cloths.
Immigrants should really make an effort to learn the language and integrate rather than try and change things. Some, are so selfish and expect everyone else to change. |

Multiculturalism and diversity is only good for big media, and big corporations.
Multiculturalism and diversity is not good for the people.
Our instinct is to tribe. Try it.

To be honest i personally think that when a person has lost their job, or had a bad experience with someone who is obviously from another country - they come on yahoo answers and incite racism and hatred amongst other people. I have also found a woman on here trying to talk so much jack about other cultures, immigrants, etc etc and most of what she said was utter nonsense. Yet you find other people believing it.
You just got to ignore these people.
I can bet you anything the woman who said immigrants shouldnt come to america - somewhere in her background, someone related to he rmust have come from another country! |

In this day and age, if you pick up and move to another country legally, you are an immigrant. Immigration did not build human culture, but it is correct that citizens did. Per this country, Citizens built this country... not Immigrants, although Immigrants were involved in that process in a small way.
But there is a point here that is critical. In every country in the world.. all of them... you are an immigrant until you become a citizen. This country, as well as many others, are having a huge problem with people who come without an invitation, commit a rather large number of crimes, commit identification crimes galor, and steal welfare constantly from citizens.
Immigrants are asked to come to a country. Illegal aliens force their way into the country. The illegal aliens need to go home peacefully, and if they do, it would be very much to their benefit. |

Maybe they should just build their own country and stay where they really want to be> HOME. they all want to go home eventually. They don't want to learn the language or manners. speaking of manners they really do lack those as well. Why do they think it's ok to stop and chat in a door way, or isle where people need to pass. they are very territorial, won't step to the side to allow comfortable passing either. really they have evry bad manners. i am bi-lingual, but my parents taught me not to speak a language that no one around you knows, because it makes them uncomfortable. EVERYONE KNEW IT WAS WRONG> The illegal immagration is more like a swram of annoying gnats. |

Well it all started in 2007...why? because 08 was an election year, so Politicians had this great idea to blow it up and make it way worst then it really is. Immigrants have been coming to the U.S. (legally & illegally) for many many years. Things haven't changed much, but the Politicians wanted you to think so, so they can promise you that it would be something they would take care of if you voted for them. It backfired on many, especially McCain, and that's why they kept hush hush about it towards the end of the elections.
Another reason why people think it's worst then it is, is because of the racist groups that are out there spreading their lies through the media and other sources. I'm not worried about it one bit. Immigrants (legal & illegal) don't bother me. It's just exaggerated propaganda.

926 Hate Groups in America, and their focus: Illegal Immigration
The number of hate groups operating in the United States continued to rise in 2008 and has grown by 54 percent since 2000 — an increase fueled last year by immigration fears, a failing economy and the successful campaign of Barack Obama, according to the "Year in Hate" issue of the SPLC's Intelligence Report released today.
Extremists are also exploiting the economic crisis, spreading propaganda that blames minorities and immigrants for the subprime mortgage meltdown. Tough economic times historically provide fertile ground for extremist movements. |

Its a matter of knowing who's who in your "house." Wouldn't you like to know who's coming over to your house? That way you can weed out the drug dealers, the murderers & rapist, all the bad seeds basically. How would you feel if all America's criminals just got up & freely entered your country knowing that you didn't feel safe anymore, that your children weren't safe anymore. Its a matter of safety, its not to keep immigrants out. Yes we as Americans all realize that that's what makes our country so great, you'd be an idiot not to know that. I want to feel safe in my own neighborhood & not have to worry that so many drug dealers & murderers came through the borders last night, or today, or tomorrow. And no not everyone is a bad person, some things I don't agree with myself but those are the laws & I abide by them. There's a lot of street gangs, drug cartels coming up from South America & entering the United States through Mexico, MS 13 being one of them that has pretty much become a global thing with possible links to terrorist. |

Because all countries have the right to be xenophobic, defend their national cultures, languages, and other way of life. No immigrant has the right to change the internal workings of the country they are immigrating to. Immigration is to benefit the country they are immigrating to and not the immigrants. If you do not like it then don’t immigrate to that country.
Whether immigration benefits the country or not is not up to the immigrants but only to the country.
U.S. Citizens are not immigrants. They are descended from immigrants or naturalized. The Native Americans are the indigenous people, which had they land stolen from my European ancestors. |

This annoys the hell out of me!
It also annoys me that people complain about immigrants not paying taxes!
There are Americans, and apparently our own government, not paying taxes!
Ridiculous!
And honestly, how many people can say that if they could get away with not paying their taxes, they'd do it anyway?
Not many.
Otherwise, you'd stop trying to get the maximum deduction on your income tax because it wouldn't matter.
And the same republicans who are complaining about immigrants not paying taxes are the ones who complain about the democrats wanting to raise taxes...
No one wants to pay taxes.
Period.
I fully understand the problems with illegal immigration.
I also see a problem with people not paying taxes, yet being able to use services our taxes pay for.
And the crime that is associated with illegal immigrants in gangs and drugs.. I live in Phoenix, so I know..
But really, I don't want to hear a negative blanketing statement because immigration is what made this country.
Some people do want a better life.
Not everyone is involved in drugs or criminal activity.
But dont complain until you make sure you, your neighbor, and your elected officials are paying their taxes.
Dont complain until you go out of your way to report crimes that you see commited by anyone.
Dont complain still you stop buying the drugs that contribute to some of the crimes that happen.
And it annoys me even more when people expect immigrants to assimilate.
Diversity is a good thing!
Yes, when living here, if you cannot speak English, you have a problem, and you need to learn English.
I absolutely hate not knowing Spanish, but having people who shop at the store I work in who only speak Spanish come to me for help.
I cannot help them... but I'm not the one in a foreign country.
They should learn English.
But at the same time, I should learn Spanish. Why? Because that will make me more competitive in the job market, and just benefit me educational.
Anyway.
They should assimilate enough to be able to function in society, but they should be able to keep their basic traditions.
We should stop being so scared of anything different.
Embrace it.
You'll be better for it. |

Major Disaster
 |
Because there's a limit to everything!
JUST BECAUSE IT HAPPENED IN THE PAST IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A GOOD THING FOR THE PRESENT!!
Why the hell do people keep using that same bloody argument?
IN THE PAST we used to hang draw and quarter people,
using your stupid bloody reasoning that means we should still be doing it ----" BECAUSE IT HAPPENED IN THE PAST"
Some places like the UK are among the most crowded places on the planet.
Why should we have to keep letting them in?
It's sheer lunacy!
Would - YOU - like to live in a country that's becoming one vast TOWN ??????? |

Immigration has been around since the dawn of time, don't pay to much attention to the idiots, (they know not what they are doing) whenever countries aren't doing too great ie with jobs, economy, etc. The first thing the right wingers do is blame it on immigration, its just the way it is. |
