Why should illegal immigrants be treated unfairly and unequally?

I don't think immigrants should be treated any differently, for the same reason I don't agree with the term "illegal immigrant" If somebody needs to come to this country for a better life and to work hard for themselves and their family, I don't think that this should be considered illegal. However, because of the ignorance and racism in the US by many US citizens, this is what it has come down to.
In addition, it makes me sick to see what other people have answered to your question. Somebody even wrote that all Mexican's are lazy. Not only is this a complete stereotype as you cannot say one comment about an entire race of people, but that is the mose ignorant and disgusting comment. How many times have you said " yes, its friday, I don't have to work tomorrow" or "I don't want to go to work tomorrow, maybe I will call in sick?" You do not hear this from most immigrants, they are happy to have a job and happy to go to work. I see way more laziness in US citizens than immigrants. I am a teacher and know thousands of illegal immigrants. I have never met one that I thought came to the US for a free ride. I don't know where this stereotype came from at all. Every immigrant that I know doesn't really want to be here, but is here due to economic hardships or catastrophic events in their country, 99% of the time caused by the USA. IF you are in a life or death situation, you are going to do what you need to do to survive. Most americans will never understand this as most have lived very sheltered lives and have never been starving to death, or been living on the street. If this happens, the government takes care of you and provides you a home and food. Not for illegal immigrants though. Even legal immigrants are unable to go on welfare, like my husband.

You're wrong on quite a few levels. First, look at the word illegal. It means AGAINST THE LAW. THerefore , they are breaking the law when entering the US.
Second, US citizens aren't allowed to enter foreign countries to live without becoming citizens. In fact, the laws are stricter. Jail time is included.
Most Americans have no problem with immigration. Immigrants just need to follow the rules and go through the proper channels to become citizens.

They allow us into their country as tourists, to spend our money in their economy, now if we were to flood their country and stay there, it would put a heavy buden on their economy, since us legal citizens have to pay higher healthcare costs, because illegals get free or unpaid for health care, and they take jobs from legal citizens.

It's like comparing apples and oranges, we treat tourists fine, so your argument is mute.

Sure lets just open our borders and allow all the people in. With out medical testing for typhoid and aids and bird flu or what-ever other disease that is happening right now. And then let them all just come and join our workforce and our welfare system. As it is we have a job shortage. Oh yeah, and wouldn't it be great to just let all the terrorists in when they want. The only reason Mexico's president allows you guys to leave his country so easily is because you all steal our money and send it to them. The only thing that is keeping your country from starving to death. Why don't you get all that you've learned from going to our schools ( FOR FREE) and take the knowledge back to your own country and fix it! So you're wanting equal rights for illegal immigrants as set forth by U.S. law? The same government whose laws they are willing to break to enter the country.

I believe what most people having a problem with is the number of illegal immigrants not paying income taxes, but using the roads, schools, and amenities those taxes pay for.

Let me put it this way, although I do not have children a portion of my paycheck goes to schools to educate others' children, but why should a portion of my paycheck go to hiring a Spanish-speaking teacher to educate illegal immigrants' children, when the immigrants themselves do not pay the same portion to educate their own and others' children?

I would absolutely have no problem with immigration through the right channels, but reaping the benefits of our country without having to help financially support it like the rest of us, I think, is wrong.

If they thought they were ALLOWED to come, why would they be "sneaking" across the border?? If they were "allowed to stay", why would they have to hide from la migra and get fake ids and such??

Illegals are BREAKING LAWS, increasing crime rates, hurting the economy, putting a financial strain on our education and health care systems, decreasing house property values, not learning English and refusing to become citizens! Yes, we absolutely should treat illegal immigrants as fairly and equally as we treat any other criminal or law-breaker. Unfortunately we aren't doing that, instead we're codependently enabling their crimes by knowingly hiring them, renting to them, and so forth. If we were truly fair, we would deport them all. Justice should be applied equally to all criminals, and we shouldn't be allowing people to break the law just because they're Hispanic.
