Why so much pity on aliens illegally present in the U.S.?

Gosh, in the real world, this is simple. MOST MEXICANS CANNOT GET A LEGAL VISA TO COME HERE. Whoever told you it's easy is lying.

In a typical year around 1 million illegals come in. It is silly to say that all million can get H-2 visa. The number is restricted to a small portion of that amount.

Hey, hotshot, if you think it's easy, open an office in Tijuana; Juarez; Reynosa; and Matamoros, and show those bums how to do it. They pay typically $2000 or more dollars to get in via coyota, if it's as easy as you say, they will be extremely happy to pay you that $2000 to get them in legally.

But, before you open that office, first ask yourself why people much smarter than you haven't done that. I can tell you. IT'S BECAUSE IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK.

Well if I lived in a place where I could not support my family I would do anything and everything to go some place where I could. And If you don't know the process, how do you comply. I have found that dealing with the goverment is impossible think of the IRS, and if you did not speak the language you would be afraid of not understanding, and doing something wrong. I am a caucasian and when I hear of this issue I think of the statue of liberty - Give me your tired your poor your huddle masses yearning to breathe free. I think that we all should remember that we all (or our family's)came here for a better life, and that is what America was founded on so how can we blame anyone else for wanting the same? And one could argue that America can't hold everyone, and thats why its our responsibility to help make the rest of the world a better place by promoting democracy. And I think that "pity" is a poor choice of words, it is actually compassion for our fellow man (or woman). If everyone would try to be a little more understanding of others the world would be a better place for all.

Because they do all the menial jobs. Without them even eating in restaurants will become a costly affair. They deserve a better deal. Most of them work 2 jobs to make ends meet and save money.

Perhaps they seem healthy to you because they are here benefitting from the food we have here. Have you gone to Mexico and seen how "healthy" they look down there?! And btw, I dont think they're asking for your pity, why dont you ask someone who is actually going through the process and ask them how "quick" it's gone for them??!!

first of all, getting a visa is not that easy. I mean how would u know? You're not an immigrant, idiot. You have to fill in paperwork and some other stuff that takes time.

They come to the U.S. to make a better living for their kids, some of them even come alone and send money to their families.

In the U.S., illegal immigrants are the ones that do the jobs that american people don't like/want to do, like working on the land, etc. And they do get taken advantage on, because some people don't pay them a lot of money. The U.S. is basically a country built by immigrants, and we should all have a chance to live a better life, is just that not all countries have the same priviledges.

Do you even know what you're talking about? Do you even know the process people have to go through to get a visa?

Have you seen ALL OF THEM? Because some immigrants that don't speak english over here are always working, women cleaning houses, men working the land and every other dirty job Americans don't want to do. Though that is SOME, not everyone. Because there are immigrants that work hard to be here, but there are others who just want it easy.

THOUGH I do agree with one thing, and that is that they should go through things legally. Most of the immigrants have to wait years to be citizens by doing it the legal way, so i think they should too. Because people let's face it, some of the illigal immigrants (those who want to have it easy) are the ones selling drugs in the streets or stealing from people. That's some of them, not all. Because that would be generalizing and not everyone is the same.

hmmm, interesting...ignorance is bliss, no? I'm positive that when our founding fathers came and wiped out the Natives as well as the Mexicans that were already settled in places like Texas and California they had to fill out some paperwork first.

Not all of them come in for six months and leave. Many of them risk their lives to get here because conditions back home are atrocious. That said, pity doesn't mean we condone it.

I am not aware of sympathy for illegal aliens, most citizens that I know seem to think that much stricter action needs to be taken to enforce the laws. It does not seem right to me that medicaid pays for the hospital costs for illegals to give birth and then the children born are automatically granted citizenship. Those who express that there is a need for illegals to be here because citizens will not to the work they do, no one should be expected to do the work at a non-living wage and that is a factor in getting immigration laws enforced---greed.

wow, i couldn't agree with you more. And when you say that kind of stuff people might look down upon you. In my opinion an illegal should either be sent back or have to work to get any type of citizenship. It would just make more sense that way.

They are getting pity because they are being blamed for a law enforcement problem. If the immigration laws were properly enforced, there would not be a mass of illegal immigrants here, therefore there would be no one to pity. Actually, someone else would be getting the pity.

Availability of visas varies with countries of origin.
Most are people that come here to work hard and send money to their families. Its hard to be overly critical of that.

No, they can't get an H-2 visa (as many have pointed out).
No, they're not here to be on "easy street" -- most of them work a lot harder than any of you do, and for much less money. And theyr'e always willing to take on more work. They come here because they can at least get a job that pays enough that they can send money to their family back home, more than they can get in their own country.
And telling them to pay taxes -- what a joke! Even if a magic wand were waved today that made them all legal, something less than 2% of them would owe any income tax...they don't make enough money. You folks DO know that you have to make at least $16,400 a year (if married) to pay income tax, right? That's about 7.90 an hour if you work a 40-hour week every single week. Many of them don't come close to that.

They just want a better life for themselves and their family, the US doesn't provide any legal way for them to come here and work, so they do what they need to do to survive. Instead of robbing banks or holding up tourists in Tijuana, they come here and work their butts off for very little money. They come from places with no educational opportunities, and no job opportunities. There are plenty of people here to hire them.
Why so much anger for people that just want a better life and (for the vast majority of them) hurt nobody in any way?

I do NOT pity them! And you're right, they only sneak in because they are a bunch of greedy,s.o.b.'s! That way they won't have to pay federal and state income taxes,if they are here illegally! And they apply for welfare,food stamps,and have their 30 kids at our hospitals and never pay a dime!

I think many of them deserve pity. Many of them are trying to find work, which is tough to do in Mexico because of an incredibly corrupt and inefficient government. They know they have a better chance of getting ahead here, so here's where they come. Several I have met have no particular desire to become American citizens - they just want the opportunities here. I can't honestly say I blame them.

I do, however, blame them for flouting the laws of my home. As far as I'm concerned, they're welcome here as long as they do it legally.
