Long time ago this country belonged only to the Natives, and then people started coming here, from Ireland, form England and so on. So look back to your ancestors and tell me where they came from.

And everybody's ancestors were immigrants. People born here aren't. |

Just because my ancestors were immigrants doesn't mean I am one. My earliest ancestor came in 1597 and the lastest to emigrate was in 1879. Others came in between those years. They all came legally by the laws at the time. They learned English, those that did not already speak English, and they contributed to the culture we call American.
By the way those natives you speak of came from somewhere else too. 10 to 15 thousand years ago they came across a land bridge from Asia into the Americas. |

The issue that Americans have, and rightfully so, is with ILLEGAL immigrants!!! |

We do. We're discussing illegal immigration.
PS American Indians are not indigenous to this hemisphere either. No humans are.
How far back in the past do we have to take this?
Why do people ask questions like this constantly fail to mention the concept of ILLEGAL immigration?
It's getting tiresome. |

This argument is old, tired and fruitless.
Yes our ancestors were all immigrants at one point or another unless you can trace your roots back to the land bridge.
But immigrants and illegal aliens are not the same thing.
My family didn't promote deceit in order to prosper as illegal immigrants do. |

There was no country when the aboriginal native Americans roamed the land, and when our ancestors built it into a nation, they established reasonable laws to guide those who came after.
Follow the rules, no problemo.
Break the rules, say adios.
Simple, really. |

I do understand that everyone is (or is a descendant of) an immigrant from somewhere else, depending on how far back you want to go. I only know my genealogy for three generations, so that includes China, Italy, and Germany.
But going back further, THOSE ancestors could have immigrated to China, Italy, and Germany from elsewhere. My family's records aren't kept well enough to investigate that.
If you're trying to tie this back to illegal immigration, try another approach. To my knowledge, all my ancestors were legal immigrants (according to US law at the time). My brother and I were born here, so he and I are Americans, not immigrants. |

There were no immigration laws, so if there are no laws, then how can one break what isn't there?

This country never belonged to the Natives (whatever that means). The "Natives" didn't believe in private property to begin with, genius. Even if they did, they did a poor job of defending their country, didn't they? This country was founded by and built by immigrants.........LEGAL ones. |

We're not talking about ancestors here, they're not even a part of this picture. It's not how this country was settled, it's that it is and now that we've established a great nation and made laws to be able to ensure it's growth and competition in the foreign markets, created communication, education, retirement, health care, job markets, etc. People want to come in now that most of the work is done and demand an equal share for none of the work. Please tell me that you can see that. |

I see it's 'Defend everything about your country to the whole world day'
oh wait
that's EVERY day
The more generous and magnanimous we are, the more we get attacked from the groups we give to
Doesnt anyone get that?
No nation has ever acted this way, for good reason |

So, that is an excuse as to why Mexicans can't do it legally? Give me a break. If you're born here, you're a citizen.
Our ancestors may be immigrants. Fine. I'll give you that.
... But YOUR ancestors got their *sses whipped for this land, and that's life. That's what happened, and in case you haven't noticed, that's the way that the world works.
If you want America back so badly, I suggest you try to fight for it. We had to. What makes your people any different? People fight for land and territory, and have been since the beginning of time. |

Yes, most of us are immigrants, but we came here legally. We need to control the environment to ensure our economy is stable. If we take too many immigrant, we would end up like france, where there is a high unemployment rate. Look what happen to the immigrant North Africans in france a year ago. Because of the stark poverty, they rioted. |

My ancestors came here from Italy 3 generations ago. They got on a ship, spent a couple of weeks enduring tough conditions to get here, spent weeks at Ellis Island, were processed through the system and became American Citizens. They worked hard, contributed to society, went to church, raised a family, paid taxes and voted in elections. That is how it is supposed to work. There is a huge difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien who snuck across our border, don't pay taxes, work off the books, get free medical care, have no insurance, take advantage of public schools and programs and are a drain on the already fragile system that sustains this great country. Does anyone really think that you should or would be allowed to just walk into Mexico and live there with No Passport, No Identification, No Documented Employer and get free food and medical and social services???? No you would be arrested, you would be lucky to be deported. I live in Texas, I have many Mexican friends and co-workers, I travel to Mexico on vacation, I even speak a little Spanish "hola"... I love Mexico, I don't have a problem with Mexicans.... If the same issues we are currently having was taking place on the Canadian border the outcry from responsible concerned Americans would be exactly the same. |

The oldest remains of Homo sapiens have been found in africa. The Human species first derived by evolution on the african continent around 200,000. From there they moved north east into eurasia. from there they moved west and north into europe and east and south into asia. in europe they most likely killed off Homo neanderthalensis around 24,000 years ago, another species of man that had already lived in europe for more than 300,000 years .
Homo sapiens continued migrating east through asia reaching and crossing the bering land bridge into north america about 15,000 years ago.
personaly, I'm decended from those humans that eventually settled in the iberian penninsula. Spain.
My wife is decended from humans that settled in northeastern North America (presently new england), ireland, and scotland. |

Legal immigration is NOT the same as “Illegal Immigration”!
Why is it “illegal aliens” are the only ones that can’t seem to grasp this concept?
I have two grandkids that are half “Mexican” and the other half is mutt like me. On the other side of their family, they have two grandparents that came to the U.S. legally, became citizens and even learned the language. They are great people and I enjoy spending time with them as well as sharing our grandkids.
Do it right, or not at all. |
