That's a plus!

Because the UK govt caters to their needs. The govt accommodates their culture instead of telling them to assimilate. Same thing in the US. |

I live in Scotland because I love the country and its people .
When I came over , I lost about 60% of my income thanks to lousy payment in Britain , but I stayed . I'm German , by the way - I think that qualifies as foreigner .... |

Better paid jobs, free healthcare, better standard of living. Most people that move here are from poorer countries and there are a lot more opportunities here than back home. |

Perhaps because the UK is a great country to live in.
We have a mild climate, very few dangerous animals.
We have a buoyant economy, high wage rates, jobs for those who want to work.
People here are mostly accepting and even welcoming of outsiders, willing to help them assimilate.
Despite popular press reports, it is mostly a safe country to live with crime rates generally lower than most countries in the world. Violent crime is rare - that's why it's big news in our papers. In the USA or Iraq, an 11 year old boy being shot dead would certainly not make national headlines - it's an everyday occurence. Here, it's filling the media even after a week.
On a practical level, we speak English here - the second language of most people overseas.
UK has lots wrong with it, it's not perfect; but our problems are tiny compared with most countries.
If you think it's a toilet bowl, perhaps you could try your luck elsewhere if you have the skills to earn a living in another country? |

The UK is suffering the same fate as the USA. That's what happens when you let anyone in. Los Angeles is a toilet bowl also. |

If a person comes from a parched region of the world to settle in UK, to them it is paradise on Earth. Lots of greenery, lots of rain, lots of lots etc.
UK is not a toilet bowel and is, in the words of Wm. Shakespeare, "This green and pleasant land".
The people of Britain welcome people from other lands and are willing to help them settle here if they so wish.
Every single one of the inhabitants of UK comes from somewhere elese, including me. I am a Brythonic Celt by race and my ancestors started arriving in UK about 10,000 years ago.
Wave upon wave of folk have come to UK to settle down and make it their own. This same process continues today.
What is the favourite dish of the people of UK today? It is a dish called "Chicken Tikka Masala". Not very English then! No indeed and it is a dish which was developed here in UK by an Indian chef and based upon an Indian dish, which I think is called simply "Chicken Tikka" or some such. So, it was created by a Briton [a British Indian] so it's about as British as it gets.
Britain has been and remains the receiver of culture from across the Globe. The Queen at her coronation held the Orb [Globe] in one hand. This signfies Britain's global enterprise and interest. This interest also includes the peoples of many lands, some of whom come from our former British Empire and the British Commonwealth. They have every right to visit their 'mother' and to stay as long as they wish, to put down their roots in the ancient Island of Britain. Build up their enterprise, raise families and do what-so-ever they wish. Worship the gods and goddesses, walk free, speak free and think free. This is their land, their new home.
WELCOME TO BRITAIN
God bless them all, every one! |

They come here (UK) to rob and steal from the British and the Labour Party approves of it . If you are a British citizen living on this island then you are a second class person . The Labour Party are a disgrace who are hell bent on destroying this country . We need to stop all these foreign scroungers coming here with their horrible kids . Did you know that any immigrant living in this country can claim for their kids even if they are not living in this country ; its a joke . Smell the coffee mate ; they come here because they know that the British people will pick up their bill . You can bet one thing ; our Grandfathers and our Great-grandfathers would be turning in their graves if they knew what these loonys are doing to this country . Send the scroungers back to their own country and take their horrible kids with them , i say . |

Because it's a great place to live.
I'm sorry, but bottom line, you have the choice to leave. But if you go, please don't say you were forced out. If you want to stay, then stay, but at least try to get involved and try to change things.
And well said Mr Sceptic and Clive H. |

Because if the UK is the toilet bowl, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Lebanon are the septic system and the sewers.
Sorry, but there are worse places, still. |

compared to the places they are coming from, this is paradise.
I dont think its fair on us (british born n bred people), because we will run out of jobs, and the immigrants will take benefits that havent been earned, etc etc. but you must understand that the government regimes these countries have, do not take pity on anyone and would and could kill people for having views which are not the same as politicians etc, free speech is not a thing every country has, even in these modern days.
so you have to try and see things from the immigrants point of view.
Plus the fact that, where the state may not seem like it gives a flying rats bum about everyday working people, it does maybe give preferance to the people who have nothing, like homeless, immigrants, unemployed, etc. |

They watch too much TV thats why. TV does not show it like its like and once here they are trapped in financial poverty just like us. Like a spiders web.
The programs exported to these people just show people well to do sitting in Starbucks all day and chatting and driving 4X4s and generally looking good because they really are just actors. And the poor are made to look like idiots - that is to say when you see the poor in the films you think its because they are really stupid. But they are really actors too. Thats why they come here.
I always say TV is dangerous if you are not too clever. And no one can filter all the rubbish they see.
Once here they start dreaming of how to get back but its very hard. I feel sorry for them.
It is the same thing that the TV does here. It shows just the dark and poor side of them and makes us feel good enough to think that we are better than them which is rubbish really because some of them live on acres of farmland inherited from their grandparents and they leave it all to come and slave here. And they think that they have blundered after a while. And they have. |

It's true that a lot of Brits are emigrating becasue they don't like how the place is being changed by some of the newcomers. Popular destinations for disgruntled Brits are Canada and New Zealand. |

Because they get loads of goodies that are denied to us ordinary working Brits.
Systems that were set up to take care of the British worker during lean times are now just taken advantage of by the poorest immigrants from all over the world whilst the British workers get nothing.
As a result millions flock here to take advantage of free healthcare, social housing and the like while Brtish people leave in their droves because they can't make any sort of life for themselves in the UK. |

This country is a toilet bowl because of all the immigrants who live here.
They want to live here because of all the free stuff there entitled to.
It makes me sick to be honest.
Would we go to Afghanistan and get a free house and money each week? |

I have given serious consideration to retiring to either Northern Ireland or to Scotland, since the land is totally beautiful and would make an excellent place to build a nice size home., and from what I have heard, most of the people that live there are very friendly to American's.
I really don't care to live in the UK though, almost as many problems there as in the cities in the USA. |

The country may be bad in your eyes but some people are coming from countries where their living conditions were like the gutter beneath the toilet bowl so to them this is the united kingdom of heaven!
I know what you mean about this country but it could be worse.
Can you imagine turning on the taps and nothing comes out? Can you imagine all the electricity in any random county being cut off randomly at any time of day to supply electricity to another county? |

Why is my country a toilet bowl? It's given me everything I want. Security, money, a roof over my head, the freedom to print stuff like this, as well as giving the same thing to millions of others.
What gets my goat is those that live here but don't love the country, those that just want to take from it but not to give to it, those that want to change it from what it is, those who would destroy it, and those that give it no respect at all.
Why would any one from the rest of the world want to live here, ask them, most of them are just down the road somewhere, they'll tell you straight off, 'I'm better off here, I live better, earn more money, and the Man doesn't touch me, he let's me get on with it, and no one shoots at me'.
Could have gone on, why bother, please don't knock my country, I love it, have a dig at what goes on here, to me that's different, but so am I. |

The UK is quite a popular country to work/live in with lots of people around the world I'm sure.
But from my point of view there are far to many immigrants. Its about time we started to have strict restrictions enforced upon imigrants. |

I'm sorry everyone but to say that IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE u have to live in a really rich area. I live in a boring area with hardly any teenagers my age around and it's so shit. I mean the only reason for which i hate most immigrants is because of their ignorance they're all so dumb and stupid, of course there are exceptions but they all seem the same, they act the same even. Plus when you get too many foreigners in a country it loses it's identity so yes to foreigners but not too many. |
