Twenty-three people suspected of being illegal immigrants were detained Thursday morning after a suspicious vehicle was stopped on Interstate 10, police said.

A Department of Public Safety officer pulled over the suspicious vehicle on westbound I-10 near Wild Horse Pass Boulevard around 4:50 a.m., DPS spokesman Lt. James Warriner said.

Once the vehicle stopped, the 20 people inside scattered into the desert. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents responded to detain the twenty suspects and transported them to a central Phoenix facility, ICE spokesman Vincent Picard said.

DPS officers later found three others wandering near the original stop location and transported them to the Phoenix location.

You are correct about American corporations violating state and federal laws by exploting workers here illegaly. The meat packing industry has used Mexican workers to bust unions, lower labor costs, speed up assembly lines, lower required food safety standers, reduce employee whistleblowing, avoid keeping long term employee obligations. And now they depend on illegal workers and pay off elected officials, or as they say "lobby" even as the rest of us have to pay.

Crossing the border is not a crime (by itself) per se. It is civil.

The part of the transcript you use make the question and answer appear as if the subject is about crime when the topic question directed was about Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

But the notion that you're going to fill every prosecutor's time, every law enforcement official's time, and that's literally what he's talking about, on immigration, he doesn't answer the other question, which he has been criticized for, by the way, in Maricopa County, because he is not going after murders, armed robberies, other more serious crimes, because he is so focused on this one.

I do not think that Secretary Napolitano believes illegal immigration is not a crime but in fact without other charges the act of crossing is nothing more then a civil crime.

As for what your post header says "23 caught after fleeing from vehicle on I-10". Read the three word of the first paragraph. It says "suspected" and although many if not all turn up illegal I doubt that you or anyone else will care about this enough to provide anything later to show that they are ever declared to be confirmed illegals. The system will just roll on and you will just find another story to post, changing what?
