Basically, I have planned to visit China either at the end of this year or the beginning of next, but at my old job I was confronted by an extremely rude and unreasonable customer that was verbally abusive and because I was already stressed out since my mother was in the hospital due to near-fatal heart attack, I lost control and tossed a shoebox hitting her in the side of the head. Although the police officers found no marks and no clear signs that she was in pain they told me that she wanted to press charges against me. I went to court and plead guilty and now I'm on informal probation for 3 yrs. Although my case was not very serious, I worry that I will still be denied a visa to go to China or anywhere else for that matter. I have been told to apply in person at the consulate office dressed nice, be polite and tell my story honestly and I should be fine?

Hmmm. Well all three of your answers are very different. I do appreciate the advice though. I'm afraid of marking that I don't have a misdemeanor on the application and if they find out through a background check they will think I was hiding it, but at the same time if I say yes I have a misdemeanor they might just deny me right away. Damn this thing is ruining my life.

Here's the truth. There is no background check performed at the Chinese consulate. Those girls at the windows are too busy to to put on makeup let alone spend $100 to conduct a background check on you.
I recommend using a visa company. If you go there in the way you propose you will most certainly be rejected.
Good for you, I hope the shoes were in the shoebox. I have no tolerance for belligerent entitlement attitudes customers..

You'll probably be denied a Visa in China no matter what.
Put it this way. I know a person who had a 4.0 when he graduated college. He applied for college in a Masters program in China and was accepted. He knows the Chinese language (whatever form they speak in Beijing) from teaching himself. He minored in Chinese cultural understandings, but he was still denied a student visa.
He buys his on the black market. Pretty much puts a little cash under the table at the application processing center. |
