I am a canadian citizen. My wife is a british citizen. We got married last july in a religious ceremony in the UK. Before i can sponsor my wife though we have to get a legal marriage ceremony done, which ive made arrangements for here in Ontario. If my wife comes to Canada on a return ticket and tells the immigration officer that shes here to get married, in order so i can sponsor her, will the immigration officer at the airport let her into the country? They denied her entry once before because she was coming on a one way ticket.

This is what you have to say. I repeat do not say that she is coming there to marry you. She must say something like this. I bought a one way ticket to visit my husband. I do not have a ticket back yet because I thought it would be cheaper to just buy a ticket back while I am in Canada. Or she can just say she is visiting you. But really it is better to have a ticket back. She will need to go home though since she isn't from Canada. |
