The new report even bolsters claims by some academics that increased immigration makes the United States safer. A second study, released earlier this month by Washington-based nonprofit Immigration Policy Center, found that on the national level, U.S.-born men ages 18-39 are five times more likely to be incarcerated than are their foreign-born peers. And, while the number of illegal immigrants in the country doubled between 1994 and 2005, violent crime declined by nearly 35% and property crimes by 26% over the same period. The PPIC even determined that on average, between 2000 and 2005, cities such as Los Angeles that took in a higher share of recent immigrants saw their crime rates fall further than cities with a lower influx of illegals.

Why, if your story holds any credit, is one of every three people in our local jail on hold by ICE or NIS? For mostly violent crimes and drug trafficking? People we really need here in the states!

Oh and Tony... I've been told by several legal immigrants that in a couple of more years, they too are going back to their own countries to live a full, and rich life. The U.S. has been so kind to them to fill their pockets so they can do so.

Forum.. over these years the Federal Government wanted the cheap labor from illegal aliens. But they did NOT want to pay the costs of putting them in jail. When the illegal aliens did not claim to be illegal aliens, the Feds didn't say anything, and they simply remained in jail at the States Expense. But things have changed on a number of levels. The States connected and finally, the search for the illegal aliens in the States Jails began and lordy.. they found a whole bunch. State by state, the Immigration Service is looking for them, and that represents a large body of the criminals they are removing at this point.

But it is a fact too, that if you go to the Department of Justice figures and look at those figures, they are very serious number with a huge number of crimes including narcotics and guns. However, this article says it all. While the article Tony cites does not use outside resources such as Department of Justice, or State Justice files, this lady does. Decide, then, for yourself. It is a little old.. but things really got worse so it still applies. And keep in mind, a lot of this crime happened in the Mexican American Community at that time. It is very, very rapidly spreading.

A last point. The illegal aliens are bringing massive amounts of narcotics to the Barrio. Mix people and narcotics, and the number of murders shoot way up and things get very ugly. So no.. remove the illegal aliens and the crime goes way down.

You must live on another planet. crime statistics for illegals are in newspapers all the time and the numbers aren't low. In 1980 Fed & St facilities held fewer than 9,000 alien criminals. At the end of 2003 appx 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated. At $25,000 per inmate per year that is $6.7 billion per year.
In Maricopa Co. illegal aliens comprised 19% of those sentenced for felonies in 2007. Tucson Citizen, Aug 3,2008 edition.
Illegals accounted for 128 aggravated assaults.

No....and Blacks and Whites do not commit near the number of crimes as illegals do. A typical pod in a county jail is roughly 75% Hispanic 20% White and 5% Black. Yes. Really.
