You won't get into trouble but he is probably marrying you so that he can become a citizen. How well do you know him? He could even be married back in his own country. That happened to a friend of mine. |

they do it around here all the time. these illegals marry citizens so they become citizens. we had a woman here in dalton, get arrested for marrying them, not that they will arrest you for being white trash. the ones she was marrying , one right after another, was paying her 3000.00 every time she married one of them.my self, i dont want lice or crotch crickets bad enough to get close to them, have to use the same rest room as them , more less marry one of them. |

AS FAR AS I KNOW, WHEN YOU GET MARRIED, THAT WILL MAKE THAT PERSON LEGAL. |

NO, unless you also got them into the country illegally and have been hiding him/her. But, because the person's status is illegal, which means whatever ID was used to get the marriage liscense was false, the marriage probably isn't legal, and if the INS catches up with them, they can be deported.
THe people saying that it would make your spouse legal by default are wrong. THat only applies to people who entered the contry legally and played by the rules. |

No you should not do this. There is a huge possibility that you can and will get caught. Think about it, is it worth having something like this permanently on your record. It will affect your future in a very negative manner. |

Yes you can go ahead and get married ... just make sure he doesn't marry you for the wrong reasons ... |

Only ostracized, looked down upon, ,made fun of, and in general become the scum of the Earth, and another part of the problem. AND, if the INS thinks you're getting married to avoid your spouse's deportation, it's a felony. So if you don't consider any of these things "trouble" go for it.
Just realize, and it's not me, so don't get defensive with me. It's the American public in general, that is going to look at you with shame and pity because of your choosing a criminal for a spouse. |

I don't see a problem arising from that.
The INS sometimes checks on the validity of the marriage to make sure you didn't just marry so that the illegal spouse married to become a citizen here. |

No, you will not get in trouble, and by marrying them, they will no longer hold the "illegal" status. I'd check out the laws in your particular state, but it's fairly standard that the husband/wife and/or child of a US citizen is also a US citizen by default. |

Why do you want to continue to contribute to illegal immigration? Yes, you can. If I knew where you were getting married, I'd call INS on the both of you. |

You better be getting at least 5 or 6 thousand dollars for this since this is what illegals are paying these days to get marry. |

Yep. First off you would need a license to get married where both of you would be involved with producing fake identification documents for him. Fraud in a national and federal sense. He would finally be deported and you could go to prison for this illegal action. And it gets better if you're marrying for money just to get him status here in this country which would only be revolved anyway. |

YES YOU MAY GET IN TROUBLE! Don't take this lightly - consult w/an attorney! INS checks the validity of every marriage. They DO interview every couple where one spouse is applying for permanent residency status. If they discover that your spouse was in the country illegally when you got married, they can deport them and deny them entry back to the US. It CAN happen, and it HAS happened.
If you want to do this 100% legally, then your fiance has to go back to their country, then you apply for a fiance visa so that he/she can come back and only then you can get married. Getting a fiance visa usually takes a while - several months, up to a year. There ARE ways around that, but you have to consult an immigration attorney. |

no, you won't get in trouble. the state has can't dictate who u get married to, unless they find out it is fraud. if u want to get married u can just get the license with his original ID-whatever country- and yours and have a big fiesta. i will tell u if u want to apply 4 his residency, u will have to wait 2 yrs before applying to make sure its real for INS. so i say go for it and congrats my fellow american. and to all they ignorant people talking crap, u r just envious because ur happiness is war and hate. |

My first marriage was to an illegal immigrant, and no I did not get in trouble. After your marriage, you will go through the process of applying for his legal residence. He does not automatically become a citizen by marriage. The INS will go through a process to ensure that your marriage is genuine and not just a ploy to make the person a legal in this country.
HOwever, I do think you should ensure that this person is not just using you for this purpose.
Good Luck. |

You will not get in trouble. About 85% of you ppl here are complete idiots. I am married to an illegal, well, he is not anymore. And for all of you stupid racists, it always isnt a mexican, or latin american, and if it was, they are always not interested in becoming legal because it's easier for them to become legal without getting married dummies.
Whatever you do, good luck and lots of happiness!!! |
