Find answers to your legal question.

Will my immigrant status change when I divorce my US citizen husband of 4 years?

I am a permenant resident my grandmother petitioned me and my family when I was young. My husband did not petitioned me at all. I was already a permenant resident of the US before I met my husband.

Don't worry about that, nothing will change.

Well, like the others say, since your husband has nothing to do with you becoming a permanent resident, your status goes on. Now, have you been a permanent resident for 5 years? if so, you can apply for citizenship.

Although, I would suggest if you can call the immigration customer service and ask them about this. there might (i'm not saying there is) .. MIGHT be some implications since you got married to a U.S. citizen ...just to be on the safe side ..
