Congress is debating options to deal with illegal immigation. Is mass deportation a viable option? How would it be done? How long would it take? Just curious about what others think.

The way it looks, the law makers Lawyers and money people want them here. They work cheap, they keep money flowing and and gets rich people richer,The American Way,right? We should make the"FREE STUFF"lines larger, give everything away that all the hard working American people have worked for. Then we'll go to there native land (swill hole)and start a" New America". Which in 100yrs they will migrate to.That way our childrens children, can give all there sh**.to there kids.Lets have the U.S. just take care of the freakin World |

they didn't come in 12 million at a time, send them back the way they came in. in groups, one by one, preferably, if you know who they are (and they are known) gang members, criminals, drunk drivers, trouble makers and rapists first. check out the rallies and demonstrations they are open about who they are. secure the borders tight, tight, tight and start - group by group, two by two, what ever. how many with criminal records or otherwise don't want to be found might even go on their own. flag the bad element and don't let them back. |

We do not need to round up any one person!!!!- Just focus on eliminating all services that sustain them here....Employment, social services, and housing, these services should be reserved for citizens or those legally permitted to be here.
When they have no means to exist here, they will sneak their way back home to the mother land with their flags flying high. |
|

uhateme I'm O.K. with that
 |
Not only is it possible, it has already begun!
Deportations are WAY up!
You can thank the illegal immigrant protesters for that. (I do.)
The laws are already in place. Check your history. It won't be the first time it's been done here. |

Yes. The Germans and Russians did it in WW II. Currently, our law enforcement officers (sheriff and police) are not allowed to arrest anyone who has broken our immigration laws. |

good topic to bring up ive been wondering this myself..
i think that we shouldnt deport ALL of them but just mainly the ones that cause problem do high demand jobs for low wages
and i live in NC and within the year there hads to have been at least 4 or 5 wrecks with a drunk ILLEGAL imigrant that has killed 1 OR MORE!! |

Denial of all benefits and work opportunity and increasing enforcement and banning sanctuary cities is definitely doable. How many would remain then? I bet it would be fewer.
What makes you think that that topic even needs to be raised now, when people are still using our border as a highway without regard to the law? THAT is what needs to be addressed. |

Yes its possible and we should start with the Arabs and i mean everyone of them legal or illegal . then we could start on the others and i'll volenteer my time to help round them up and deport them. |

Yes, of course it's possible.
We sent men to the Moon, landed them, and brought them back nearly 40 years ago. Catching and deporting illegal aliens is not rocket science.
The vast majority would leave all by themselves if we just cutoff all benefits and made it impossible for employers to hire them. |

Of course it's possible. It's a matter of will and assigning the resources to round up the perps. In my view, however, we shouldn't bother. We should do 2 things. #1 - if you are born in the US and neither of your parents is a citizen, then you are not a citizen. #2 - absolutely nothing - let them remain in an indefinite limbo as non-citizens, always wondering when the INS will swoop in and send them back to wherever they came from. And as to all this blather about no amnesty because of an $8,000 penalty I say BS. Half the world would be falling all over themselves to walk into the US illegally if they knew it would only cost them 8 grand. Some of these people pay many thousands to human smugglers to come here in banana containers as it is. |

Its not a viable solution unless congress also makes the border more secure. |

it could be done if citizens helped. it will probably take awhile but it could be done. |

I actually think it would be very possible. It won't be easy, but with the cooperation of the citizens of this country, I do believe that it is a viable option.
First of all, it would entail everyone sending in their I-9 forms into the government, and then the government dispatching "agents" to the businesses to match the forms with the employees. If the employee has no I-9, then they would have to produce immediate proof they are legal to work in the United States. If they can't, then bye-bye. It would also be a part of the employer to produce a home address for the illegal employee so they could go to their home and remove all of illegal status at the home. If there is a baby/kid that was born here, oh well. I don't think being born in this country should automatically give you the right to citizenship. The birth, if the parents are illegal, is the result of a criminal act. In a court of law, that doesn't hold up for any other crime. Why should it for this one?
It will cost tons of money, take a lot of man power, and it won't be easy. But I do feel that it is something that could be done. Another thing could be to go by school records. If the parents of children can't prove they are in this country legally, then they - along with the kid - are packed up and shipped out. Again, it will take work, but it is possible.
I do think it will impact the economy at first, but we will bounce back (we always do). |

No but I have never been for deporting them. You dont need to.
You simply enforce everythign to the letter of the law and include a few changes so that there are very harsh penalties for anyone who employs an illegal and you cut off all benefits to someone who is illegal ( this woudl require identity checking on everything. which we need to be doing ) and then the illegals will either have to leave if they can't take advantage of the system illegally. They will have to apply to do it legally like they should. which is fine. |

No it is not possible but we could get a big hunk of them. |

My Business Plan
 |
Its amazing that Congress can't put their collective brains together and find a REAL solution to the ILLEGAL immigrant problem.
The first priority, should be to secure the borders, and stop the flow coming in.
That is the only thing they should be debating right now. Period.
Why does Congress and the President think that there has to be a COMPREHENSIVE REFORM of our immigration laws.
Here is what I say to CONGRESS. Secure the borders, prove you can at least do that much. Then when you show us that you are serious, then ask the PEOPLE for permission to issue work visas. It is not their sole decision. It is up to the people. We are the DECIDERS in AMerica. not big business, not special interest groups, the people!!!!! |

If we would just enforce all of our immigration laws, we might not have many left to deport. No jobs, no reason to stay here. |
|

Wade M
 |
Is it possible, absolutely.
Mass deportation is not viable.
It should be done on a case by case basis. Catch one, deport one and fine the Mexican government or whatever country they are from. Force their government to start paying for it's citizens crimes.
We are basically all in favor of legal immigration. We should catch them, fine their country, send them home, let them apply for legal immigration if they want to be here.
If their country can't keep it's citizens in it's borders, we should charge their government fines to cover a portion of the costs of border control. Why should our taxes be paying the whole bill?
..and all the guest worker program amounts to is importing slaves. Humans worked very hard with nothing to show for it but barely enough to scrape by on. The guest worker program also forces other companies to lower wages to compete with the companies that use these hired slaves. |

OK so 12 million seems like a larg number - but how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time...break that 12 million down by state, then county then city. It isn't like we need to spread the resources to accomplish this task evenly across the US. Start forcing our cities to stop welcoming illegals. What is this new term? Sancturary city? How many of us live in a city that has begun to call themselves that? Didn't you elect these people that are doing this? Why is it that the governement is geting away with being so afraid of them? This is OUR country we can make the rules. When are we going to do it? We need to start screaming louder IN PUBLIC about this. The same way they are. Why aren't our voices being heard? Because we aren't screaming loudly enough where it matters....let them realize how many votes they will lose from LEGAL voters..
Not only that but SUPPORT the border patrol....does anybody remember those 2 agents that are in jail right now because they shot a drug smuggler coming across the border? Why is it that they are in jail?
How about we start supporting the organization that patrols the border on their own?
We aren't talking about being racist, that is what they want everyone to think to take the focus off of their crime. |

Citizen hot lines and a government with a spine. In fact, state appointed militias and man hunts wouldn't hurt. |

If we can put people on the moon, then you know its possible. Will take time of course but with Americans turning them in and getting them out, its possible. Only problem I see is keeping them out. If they cannot secure our borders its a loosing battle. All they have to do is shoot to kill when they come across, same thing Mexico would do to us. That will stop the the problem, pronto. |

sure is possible but the congress they will never agree
to spend $289 billion to deport 12 million of illegal immigrants
then they have to deal with million of lawsuit against
the congress for violation of human rights
and even the congress begin to deport them
it would take years
in other hands legalized 12 million illegal immigrants
for the congress is 12 million of new taxpayer
plus 12 million of new voters...
so deport 12 million of illegal immigrants is possible
but is inconvenient for our government... |

Its not practical but anything is always possible. To carry out such a plan would be like trying to plug a worn out dam. You plug one hole and pump out the water and another hole pops open and the same water that you just pumped out comes rushing in again. The problem has grown to such proportions because it was not effectively managed at the start - and it only grows worse each day. We are in very real danger of losing complete control of our country. The ultimate solution has to start at the beginning of the "pipeline." Mexico, which is the main source of illegals, must provide the incentive for their people to stay home. Another action that we should implement immediately is stiff penalties against any American company that hires illegals. Penalties must be so harsh that there is no second offense. Jail sentences for employers on the first offense would have a dramatic effect. Dry up that source and we will see the rate of illegals slow. Deny any and all health and social benefits to illegals. Enforce laws regard identity theft and the sale of false documents. Harsh actions for a harsh situation. While all of this seems to be closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out - we have to do something and these steps are as good as any to start with. |

Please stop add fuel to the fire about mass deportation. Very few if anyone wants mass deportations. On a one to one basis, we do deport illegals, and very few object to that, so
why do illegals and their supports act like it would be the end of the world if we enforced our laws. They would have to come to terms with the fact that we have the right to set our immigration policies not the illegals and their supports. |

Well, first you gotta find them. 12 million is MORE that the total population of Colorado, Nevada and Arizona combined and more than the population of the country of Denmark. That task alone is impossible.
But, if you started rounding them up, where would you put them while you were processing them. How many new jails would have to be built...how many law enforcement officers, immigration officials and security people would have to be hired.
Then, of course, there is the task of transporting them from where they are back to where they came from. How many buses, how many airlines seats or planes would we need. How much money would the taxpayers have to shell out for airline and bus tickets for the "criminal" and his or her escort.
Then, while you are busy deporting them for the next 10 or 12 years, their relatives are coming in. When you return him or her, he or she will only turn around and come back.
The problem is at the borders where they come in. Not enough border agents, not enough monitoring of the borders. But the biggest problem is the companies that hire them. It is against the law to hire undocumented workers and always has been.
So, if the government would enforce the laws already on the books by stopping the illegal hiring by arresting, fining and closing down those businesses who hire them, the problem would be solved in a heartbeat. That will never happen. Big corporations, meat packers, agribusiness, sewing factories, farmers and otherd depend on this cheap labor force....and the government knows it. They have done nothing for 60 years! And, they aren't about to start now. |

No, I don't believe it is possible.
I mean, a new proposed bill calls to collect back taxes from illegals, and we can't even keep track of Americans' taxes most of the time - let alone track down illegal individuals! |
