Would I be able to get a work visa to work in the UK?
|
I'm from the US, and want to work in the UK. Do I need to be a professional in a particular area, such as physician, lawyer, etc., to get a work visa in the UK? I have a 2-year Associates of Art's degree, but not in any particular subject...would I be able to get a work visa? If so, what "Tier" would I fall under, and what kind of jobs might I qualify for?

As of April 1st 2009 you now need to have at least a Masters degree to qualify under the Tier 1 visa. So if you want to work in the UK, you would either need to find a job with a company in the US who would transfer you to their UK office, or go back to school and get an MA/MBA and apply under the Tier 1 |

You can apply for the UK Tier 1 (General) Visa. This is a points based system. You do not have to be a professional in any specific vertical to apply for this visa. As long as you can score the required 75 points in attributes ( http://tier1visashop.com/attributes ), 10 points for English Language Requirements ( http://tier1visashop.com/english-proficiency ) and 10 points for Funds maintenance ( http://tier1visashop.com/funds-maintenance ), you will be eligible to apply for the Tier 1 (General) visa. |
