Fortunately, my ancestors entered New York in 1784, New York in 1917, and Washington DC in 1938... the family has the documentation of entry into the United States.
I AM ASHAMED that my government can't get off their @SSES and enforce our current laws. |

No I would never be ashamed of them......they gave me a better life!!! |

Bergen

No. I had no say in the matter. It's not like I asked them to migrate illegally. I had no control over it. |
|

WellTraveledProg
|
No, I wouldn't be ashamed. What my ancestors did is their problem, has nothing to do with me.
And keep in mind that there was no such thing as "illegal" immigration until the last century, in the 1800's if you came here, you could stay here -- it was that simple. |
|

Niecy

There are better reasons than that to immigrate legally. |
|

Seriously??? No one should be ashamed of their ancestry. It makes you who you are. We all have black sheep in the family! |
|

Mr. Payne
|
No I would not be ashamed. |

Niña Boniita

Nope I wouldn't be ashamed. I would be ashamed to learn that they were racist though! |

I wouldn´t be ashamed to learn they were illegal but i´d be ashamed if they were openly proud of it. |

Yes. But to be honest with you alot of our ancestors have done worse than that. My mothers side is incestuous. I'd rather they had been illegal aliens. |

I can beat that - we snuck into the English colonies after barely escaping Germany. Sided with the English King in 1777 and had our lands taken and farms burned. Came back in the mid 1800s and became cattle rustlers. Then worst of all - someone ran for Congress! After that we reformed and became respectable citizens - served at Normandy, Vietnam and Kosovo. |

I hope I would not judge someone else for their actions without thorougly understanding their situation and motives. Not everyone necessarily has the opportunity to immigrate 'properly'. |

no. but guess what my family that came here to the states are now permanent residents and naturalized american citizens. |

.I wouldn't be ashamed of any of my ancestors, but I see where you are going with this one.
But in all honesty,I can not be responsible for anything done that I have no direct part in or
knowledge of. Of course its always better to do things the legal way.
People need to get off this we were all illegal kick.....
Its simply not true. There were no laws against immigration when my ancestors came to the new world.no laws= no laws broken= not illegal
My ancestors came here in 1702,they were merchants from Germany, not thieves or criminals. They settled in this country and helped others like themselves carve out a nation out of nothing. My legal ancestors paid for this land with their sweat and blood and were legal Americans. |

Since the great grandfather that first came here died long before I was born and came thru Ellis Island, such can never happen to me. |

The people you are speaking about aren't concerned with propriety. Sorry. |

no, but I would be ashamed if they were illegal alien on the dole...but then I am an American, my ancestors came thru Ellis Island..so I have pride, unlike the illegal aliens in our country! They all come with their hand out crying poor pitiful me.... |

If you think about it, everyone has ancesttors that are illegal aliens. The world population was not born in the United States. People should be proud of their heritage regardless of where their ancestors came from and they should be proud that their ancestors cared enough about themselves and their families to try to make a better life. |

I had a ancestor who came here here the English ruled this country. He was wanted in London because he was a Duke But he wanted to be king but England already had one. So I guess he would be considered an illegal. He also was a criminal for plotting against the King. Yes I am very ashamed of him. |
|

Tina Louise Smith

No ,my step-dad was illegal. |

I wouldn't be ashamed cause it doesn't matter where you come from, who you are, or where did your ancestors come from, cause we all are humans and we all know that we have love in ourselves. |

my their why would any one grow up their kids to be ashamed of their heritage.that is just wrong SO WHAT IF A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY WAS AN ILLEGAL ALIEN?!WHAT IS SO EMBARRASSING ABOUT THAT?IS THAT PERSON A SERIAL KILLER A BANK ROBBER AN EMBEZZER A RAPIST A BOMER?NOW THAT ARE THING TO BE ASHAMED ABOUT.be proud of whom you are and be proud of the courage and hard ship your relative went through to make life better for all ihs family that includes YOU. teach your children ,grand kid about there home land the culture ,the history ,of how it use tobe back in the day up til present time show them the changes the sacrifices you all made to give them a better life tell them how it was at the begging wat you all did to survive to give them a better way of living .they will surely appreciate you after .the tale has been told be pround of who you are .because if you dont know where you came from how will you know what you will be! |

my God, you pleple have a lot bigger things to worry about then illegal aliens. Can we PLEASE get of this freakin' subject.
Why don't you instead worry about a possibility that you might get nuked since more the half of the world hates you. Of course, I don't wish you that but WAKE UP for Christ sake! |
|

Ronnie
